The hotel across the street sucksafter I raised heck they gave us a decent room

The hotel was showing its age, many items needed updated. We stayed during March madness and the tv kept going out. This was a big deal to us in the evenings, we are a big sports family. Loved the trolley pick up in front of the hotel. The breakfast buffet at the hotel was bad. The pool and hot tub were bad. Won't stay there again.

We always go to Gatlinburg every 4th of July, its a family tradition. This year with the economy we didn't think we were going to be able to go. My husband searched the internet and was able to find a great deal with Orbitz. The hotel is an older property that could use a makeover, but we can not complain for the price. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. They have two out door pools and one indoor pool. The cafe at the pool has delicious food and excellent service. The hotel is at the top of Airport road and it is too far up to walk to the strip, but we are always able to drive and find free parking on River road. The only complaint would be that the shower pressure was very low you are not able to adjust the water temperature. It goes from scalding hot to freezing cold. But otherwise it was a wonderful place to stay for the money.

I understand you get what you pay for, I paid * a night for this hotel so I thought I would get a half way decent room, when my husband opened the door and we walked in, I could swear I stepped back in time to the 70's. The room was so out dated, there were food stains on the ceiling right as you walk in the door. I was very disappointed because the description sounded great and when I saw the pictures of the hotel on this site, I was very impressed. Even though I paid * a night for this room I could have went to a motel 6 and payed 20.00 less and would have at least got a updated room.

the main area very nice, but then you are directed to the other side, which on the outside looks run down. No maps offered so you could not see there was a really nice outdoor pool on the back side of the lobby (that I found when I was looking for breakfast). I was on the other side of the road with a rinky dink pool. The website stated free cont. breakfast, no that's a lie. Indoor pool looked very nice, but had no time to swim in it. The room was clean, which is a plus. go eat breakfast below hotel at the log cabin pancake house, it is the best you will eat. Also, the texas roadhouse was very good. One more thing, bring your good walking shoes because this hotel is at the end of the road with a steep hill.

The hotel was VERY dirty wth cracked electric outlet plates, burned out lightbulbs and peanuts on the floor from previous guests. We left two days early! Next time, we'lll pay more and stay somewhere else.

We needed 2 queen beds/ all they could give us was either queens in smoking/ which was terrible or a king and we had to pay for a nasty looking cot for each day. We stayed 2 nights and couldn't stand it there/ no internet service, bad cot, that we decided to leave and the girl at the desk said all I would have to do is notify Orbitz and I would be reembursted for the other nights, it would not be a problem. I couldn't check orbitz with no internet service, so I'm out the money for the additional days and the cost for a new hotel room.

This motel is several blocks from the downtown area. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. The room was to the outside of the motel which we did not know until we got there. If it wasn't for kids running and yelling down the halls we would have had a better stay.

Not really a family type lodge. It was great if you did not mind staying at the hotel for dogs(they were having a greyhound convention and all the dogs stayed here), but not really my type of lodge. The pools were very cold all the time and the hot tub was turned up to turbo. This is good lodge for a couple looking for cheap lodging, it is walking distance from the main parts of gatlinburg and the trolley picks you up right in front of the lodge. The rooms were very modest and very small not really disigned for four people.

- The pool and hot tub were amazing.....The hotel is close to all attraction, I walked everywhere. The room was nothing special, just an average hotel room, but I feel it was a very good price for what I got. They only down side I could see is that I was in a room across the street from the main hotel and pool. When I went swimming or hot tubbing (which I did nightly), I had to go outside and cross the street to get back to my room. I went in October and it was cold, imagine running across the street dripping wet at the end of October. Would defently book again.

The hotel looked nothing like the pictures on the computer. The hotel needed alot of fixing up. The rooms were not nice at all. The hotel was very disappointing compared to the other hotels in the area.

The bed was horrible, the pillows were very thin! My whole body ached the next day. Very dated, shower fixtures were falling apart. We called the front desk for pillows & they said they had none. The only thing that was good was the cleanliness. But I'll never stay here again!

this was a very restful place, i found the creek outside our balcony very relaxing and enjoyable, thank you

The Sidney James Mountain Lodge was adequate, but not worthy of the $$$ a night we paid. Our room was over the laundry and while clean, it was very dated. Oddly shaped, very small TV, no amenities to speak of. Coffee maker was in room and supplied. Quite a walk from the main street up hill. I won't stay there again because I like a little more bang for my buck. Doesn't look the same as the advertisements lead you to believe.

The room that we received was in a half basement, between the laundry facilities, and an office. It should have been a room that was only used when they reached full occupancy. Pictures look much better than reality.

This hotel is old, not one of those brand new hotels and kept up as well as can be. The hotel desk service people and maids were very nice. The price for our stay was definitely sufficient. There was one ceiling tile that needs to be changed in the bathroom, but all and all, our room was just fine. The brook was directly behind us. We could just sit on the balcony and listen to the running water from the brook. This place has an inside and outdoor swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and a little mom and pops Cafe. We could walk to the shops and restaurants on the main street of Gatlinburg. You can choose to ride the trolley, walk or drive your vehicle. The price for our stay was worth our stay for 1 week. I would recommend this hotel for families, couples and individuals.

We got a room that was ok but then we asked about upgrading and the staff was wonderful. They let us go and see what the upgrade was like and gave a wonderful deal on the upgrade. Every time that we talked to any of the staff they were super nice and polite and they went out of there way to help us. We had a wonderful weekend away and plan to go back and stay here again.

No internet access in rooms. No breakfast but there is an overpriced cafe onsite. Needs updated to keep up with the other motels on the same road. Very old and outdated.

We booked our room at Sidney James based on the pics from website. When we arrived, we checked in, paid and were off to our room. The smell was very musty, the tub was brown/black in the bottom, the kleenex holder was completely rusted and only attached to the wall by the two bottom screws so was hanging open permanently, counters were badly stained, drains in sink and tub were rusted, tiles were broken, dresser had a broken drawer that hung open, carpet was dirty, just plain unclean. Not at all what we expected. When we went down to talk with the clerk, we were offered another room. This one was "updated." We looked and it did appear cleaner; however, the wet, musty smell was overwhelming from the minute we opened the door. We were refunded one of our nights but not the other and were told we could speak with the manager the next day. He did not offer even an apology, instead began yelling, and telling us they could not put a pic of every room on the site. Very rude, antagonistic, used profanity, and we were told "Sue us, we have good lawyers." I understand that every room cannot be pictured, but I do expect a fair representation of what I am paying for. This one was way off. We wound up paying about the same per night to stay somewhere else that was infinitely cleaner and more pleasant, and as always, had a great time with our family in Gatlinburg!
