Great location, close to temple square and good shopping/eating areas. But possibly the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Beds were old and worn out, blankets were coming apart, bathroom not clean, elevator door closed on our luggage and would not reopen - needed to get help. Let's be honest, it's time for an update or it's time for this hotel to be closed or sold. The breakfast was the highlight of our stay, the courteous staff and good food made us want to go back the next day, we did. Oh yea, the pool was closed for repairs, that did not go over well with the kids. Many hotels in the area, so you have many options to choose from.

I was here for a nurses convention and was quite impressed with the overall facility. It was convenient to everything, the staff was pleasant and helpful and the rooms were clean. (nurses look) I enjoyed the breakfast each morning and the shuttle to and from the airport was prompt and the driver courteous not to mention FREE internet as well. I would highly reccommend.

Great staff. We were there for our 4 year anniversary. We went out for a while and when we returned, there was a Happy Anniversary note and a bag of candy. Great experience.

The restaurant currently serves breakfast and lunch only. For dinner, sandwiches and salads are available in the lounge. But there are several good restaurants within a couple block radius. The free parking (open covered) is a plus. As is the free breakfast.

The good: the staff was very friendly, it was quiet and the hotel was very clean. The parking was also free which was very nice. It is in a really nice downtown location.The BAD: Very uncomfortable beds, 80's decor, hair dryer had a short and kept turning on all by itself, the shower knob was broken, the toilet didn't work very well. The pool and fitness facilities were closed for repairs. The breakfast was free but you basically get what you pay for in that regard.Overall for the price, I would NOT stay there again.

Nice room beds were really comfortable. Needed some mainanence (carpet coming away from door threshold, bathroom needed an update). Elevators were slow and stairs were on outside of building and hard to access. The pool and hottub/ sauna were in good repair and good size. The temperature of the pool was very comfortable. Breakfast was hot and delicious. An older hotel overall stay was good.

I don't usually review a hotel but the public needs to be warned about the Shilo. Travel agency did not send our reservation so the desk staff treated me rudely. The entire hotel smelt bad. The lobby and elevator were dirty. Then there was the room. It smelt terrible. LIke backed up sewer. I sat down at the table and my arm stuck to it. Everything felt sticky. The entire hotel made me feel like it was unsanitary to touch anything let alone sleep in the bed. We didn't last an hour in this pig sty. It truly was a relief to get out of the place. We left after an hour and called travel agency and demanded our money back. We went down the street to the Marriot. PUBLIC BE WARNED. REALLY GROSS PLACE TO STAY.

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Very close to Temple Square and State Capitol. Downtown district appeared very safe for walking in evening and lots of restaurants nearby. Servers at their Sunset Cafe are great and the included full breakfast was good.

Booked a king suite, got 2 queens. Asked for nonsmoking, room smelled of smoke. Asked twice for a crib, never got one. No towels at pool, asked twice never got any. Pool was nice but hot tub was green. I think they are under staffed. Good location and complimentary breakfast was nice. Dissapointed, not worth 120.00.

We were just two blocks from Temple Square and the Family History Library so we didn't need to use our car to go back and forth to the hotel. We arrived early, but the staff were very helpful in booking us in without a long wait. We loved the complimentary breakfast.

I stayed one night here with my husband and mother while we attended a concert. It was clean, convenient to downtown. The complimentary breakfast was great....good selection and great quality. The parking garage behind the building was a bit of a walk for my elderly mother, but it didn't cost us anything to park. In all, I was pleased with the hotel, and would most certainly stay again.

The Shilo Inn is conveniently located near the Mormon Square and across the street from the convention center. A major shopping district is within walking distance, about a mile from the hotel. If you need a grocery store, Whole Foods is less then 2 miles from the Shilo and easy to get access. During the weekend there was very little traffic in town making walking very easy.

The location of the Shilo Inn is great. We walked to dinner and to the nearest Trax Station. Our beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was a hot breakfast of our choice from the in-house restaurant. This is an older hotel so the carpet was pretty old. The pool was clean but very deep for our littler kids, although it had a very large hot tub that our littler kids enjoyed. The bathroom was big and the hotel was one of the quieter hotels we have stayed in. The outside view elevator was broken. The staff was helpful and friendly.

The staff was rude and unhelpful. The pool was semi-closed for a bacterial outbreak. One of the elevators was out of order, the ice machine didnt work, and the room service menu was out of date...items that werent offered or made were still listed.
