DO NOT STAY HERE! First off, the beds in our room felt like plywood with a sleeping bag. The room was not very clean,it had an awful odor. Great view but I would have traded it for a more soundproof room. It's hard to sleep when it sounds like elephants are herding over head! The pool would have been great if it had not been leaking stagnant water from the ceiling above. Our car "bottomed out" attempting to use their parking garage. There was no sense of security, especially when the doors to get in the hotel from certain areas are supposed to be accessible only to those who have a room key but they were never locked. Not even at 12:30 at night. Their parking is dark and their are no security cameras. But, there are signs everywhere reminding you that they are not responsible for theft or damage. Better to stay across the street at Comfort Inn. No pool but they have great pillow top mattress' and clean pretty rooms. And if you squint you can see the ocean!

I love staying at this hotel. The ocean view is amazing. I love leaving the windows open and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. In the lobby they have free fruit, cookies, coffee and popcorn. The room we stayed in was a very nice size. The bed was comfortable. I wish the sink area was a little bigger, but other than that everything is perfect. I will definitely stay here again.

We found the room to be spacious and well appointed; the beds were comfortable, wireless access good, bathroom in good order, microwave, fridge, and a good clean environment. This place is located right on the beach. All the rooms have a full view of the water. At night they leave on a flood light so yu se the wave crests in the dark. We left the windows open for a breeze all night. They have FREE cookies, popcorn, fruit and coffee in the lobby The restaurant onsite has wonderful evening meals and a to die for chocolate cake. There is a cafe just down the street called Grumpies that has a great Monty Cristo and Fish-n-Chips.

We were very pleased with this hotel and think it is perfect to stay with friends or family. We were greeted by a friendly staff who served us hot cookies from the oven! We were with friends and had 2 very clean rooms next to each other with incredible ocean views. Although small, we did enjoy the pool. We had just one night here, but wish we could have stayed longer!

It was conveniently located in a very nice town with a great view of the ocean. There were no chairs to sit outside on and we had very noisy guests below us. There are many things to see and do in the area.

The beds were hard as plyboard, NO dvd player, you couldn't even hook up your own! food in restaurant way too pricey. Stayed one of two nights , went home in disgust. view of ocean was perfect, beach was big and accessable.

The view was spectacular!!!! Most of the staff was very nice and helpful . The on site restaurants were delicious and priced about average. The room though not new was very clean. Last but not least the parking stinks. Over all we had a great stay.

Wonderful place for kids and family. Room with kitchenette was just right except housekeeping needs improvement. Will stay again.

The rooms were clean, but a little cramped. No place in bathroom to put toiletries. Carpet could use a little cleaning, but all in all a good value. Were there for a wedding so didn't spend much time in room and the weather was glorious so spent a lot of time outdoors.

The room itself was good; it was clean and had all the necessities. Bathroom was also clean and decent looking. But hand lotion offered in the guest kit was of horrible quality - it had unpleasant chemical odor and made my skin feel dryer instead of softer. Room service food was terrible. Poached eggs, omlet and hashbrowns were overcooked and salted "to death". All the food and coffee were rather cold when brought to our room. Now about Shilo restaurant. It was almost empty, but we were made to wait before we were seated. It was very dark in there, so we could hardly read the menues. The table was steeping to one side. Very strange variety of music was played to satisfy the DJ's taste only. "Extra small" oisters were Jumbo Size - 3X2 inches and tasted very strong - on the verge of rotten. "Herbed" rice was bland to the point of impossible to eat. And they charge you extra for a small dinner salad. We did not feel welcome at that restaurant at all. We picked this hotel because it has room service and a restaurant on the premices. But our encounter with both of these services spoiled our stay at Shilo Inn very much.

The view was great and the staff was accommodating. However, the room was terrible. It was old and dingy. There was an odor. The carpet had been wet, probably from ocean spray coming through the gap under the door. I wouldn't stay there for the price.

Stayed here for the Newport Marathon, which ran right past the hotel. Beautiful view (if only the weather cooperated). The hotel staff didn't seem too excited about the online booking and offered to match or beat any online rates if we called them first next time. Even though we booked far in advance they gave us a room with an obscured view in a high traffic area, whereas our friends who booked the same type months after us got a great room with an even better view.

The Newport Shilo has it all. Great view, staff that goes out of their way to make your stay nothing but the best. We spend many weekends during the summer at Newport, stayed at many properties and Shilo is head and shoulders the best ,with sunsets that are incredible. No matter what the view, if the staff isn't helpful and friendly it can leave you wanting. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you stay at this property. It definately has it all, from a comfy bed to warm cookies. Do yourself a favor and stay a day, weekend or week. Its simply the best.

Room location was great, but all else lousy. Wonderful food in hotel restaurant & cafe, but VERY smoky - had to leave! If all you need is location and room to sleep, would be okay if price is cheap."

Little disappointed with room as it did not look quite as nice as the pictures--would suggest calling motel ahead of time to ask about that. Overall though the room was comfortable, the staff friendly. Watched whales from our room window, took long walks on the beach and through the town of Newport. Drove to McMinnville--saw Spruce Goose and enjoyed seeing the wine country--especially Anne & Amie's Winery. Had great meals at Panache and Georgie's in Newport. The Oregon Coast Aquarium was very nice. The hazlenut Rogue beer was good along with the food served at the brewery. Finished vacation by following 101 to Astoria and into Portland--beautiful!!

Newport is a beautiful city and you cannot beat the friendly town. This hotel needs work on the plumbing. When anyone flushed a toilet in the area, it sounded like the ceiling was falling in. The noise was awful. The bathroom needs a complete work over and the bedspread was stained with who knows what. Made me think maybe everything was dirty. Not a great experience.

Great, free fruit, cookies, coffee, and popcorn in the lobby at all times. Fridge and microwave and free coffee in the rooms, which were huge. Very comfy bed with lots of pillows and AWESOME view!

First off the assistant manager that checked us in was Amazing! He knew everything about the town: where to go, what to do, how much the specials are, it was uncanny. The room was ok, a little small, no dvd player with the tv so you had to watch what was on the shilo network. It was nice though.
