I was impressed with the modern, upscale appearance of the lobby right off the bat. It appears that the hotel has been recently updated, and the staff was nice and got me checked in very quickly. Room was decorated in the same modern, clean style as the lobby and was a nice size. Even though it is a very large hotel I didn't see a lot of people coming and going, and the halls were fairly quiet. The highlight of the hotel for me was the pool area. The patio area was spacious and had many types of sitting areas, and a few cabanas. There was a variety of people from families to groups of (I assume) people meeting for business. My daughter thought the pool was a bit cold, but that was our only minor complaint. The bar and restaurant is just inside the door - very convenient. We grabbed the free shuttle in the morning, and I would advise that you plan an extra 20 minutes to your schedule as the shuttle stops at several hotels before arriving at LAX. As a frequent traveler to the LA area I'm always looking for affordable, fun and stylish hotels to stay at. My daughter thought the hotel was similar to the Chamberlain in West Hollywood (aesthetically speaking). If I need to stay at a hotel near LAX again, I will certainly chose the Sheraton Gateway LAX.

Public spaces werewell kept. Room air conditioning was horrible. Conveniently located near LAX. Non-Valet parking is horrible. Room was too warm and AC was inadequate! Bathroom needs updating. Television system is horrible - not just bad but horrible! Bed was nice but insufficient choices for bedding - i.e. blankets/quilts/etc. Very nice view. People and staff were very friendly and professional.

The elevators at this hotel were very slow; the remote control for the tv was not very functional and delayed in the changing of channels and volume; the employees were not knowledgeable of the available amenities at the hotel. For example, when I asked the employee who checked me in if the hotel restaurant offered a sunday brunch, he said no. But there was in fact one when I saw it for myself. And, when I asked the operator if there were towels available at the fitness center, she said no. This lack of knowledge about an employees' business amenities does not give a good impression on the hotel. In addition, overnight parking fees were outrageously high.

I asked the concierge one question and he rolled his eyes and didn't really answer my question. I believe my question was something like; is there something to do around the hotel? He then directed me to of course an expensive tour which the hotel gets comission on and I was not interested in. Then later that day I meet a nicer concierge, but he defintley was pushing the same tours. I found out you can use the transit system in L.A. but these people will refer you to a 50 dollar cab ride (one way) into the city because they don't know anything about it. I found this to be stunning, either they are playing stupid to get commission from these cab companies and tours or they are just plain stupid. Knowledge is vital; the hotel should invest in this. One of the bartenders in the hotel was simply rude to everyone. He was an older white man and was just awfully sarcastic and rude to both the staff and the customers. However, I must admitt everyone else I came into contact with was great! I however never stayed in a hotel where they made you pay for the internet service, but of course they did.

My family stayed here before we flew out of LAX following our vacation. The shuttle to the airport was excellent -- very prompt and less than a 5-minute trip. We were also very pleased with the frendliness of the front desk staff -- we had just finished our cruise and arrived earlier than expected, and the staff when out of their way to accomodate our early arrival. Some hotels insist that you adhere to the 3 p.m. check-in time, but this hotel is big on customer service. We were pleased. Restaurants are very pricy, but there is a Subway within walking distance. A couple of minor problems -- the elevators did not work properly at all times of the day. We waited for upwards of 20 minutes on the 5th floor to get a down elevator. Later, a group was waiting exhaustively in the lobby for an elevator when the doors finally opened, a group exited, and the doors closed (and the elevator left) again before a single person could get on the elevator. Also, we took the trolly that stops outside the hotel to Manhattan Beach and were extremely disappointed with the service. On our return trip, the trolly was more than 30 minutes late from the posted stop time. Then, when it arrived, the driver said it was too crowded and we'd have to wait 5 minutes for the next one. 30 minutes later, it finally arrived, but the driver exited and took a 5-10 minute break. On the way back, we had to bypass stops where others similarly stood stranded by this shoddy service. After eyeballing other LAX hotels, we decided this was the best option and will stay there again on our next trip. We'll do without the trolly, however.

The hotel staff was extremely helpful and nice through my entire stay. The room I originally booked was not ready when I arrived, but the staff went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. The room was clean and peaceful and the pillows were amazing. I would not mind staying again.

Beautiful rooms, great bedding. Shuttle route to the airport too long. Goes to 3 hotels. Convenient to the airport. Nice lobby area, nicer rooms. Set your own alarm did not receive my requested wake up call and just made my flight. Leave early for your flight if you are taking the shuttle, because it goes to three other hotels before heading for the airport.

Very Large and comfortable Hotel rooms. Great location if wanting to stay close to LAX airport for a quick overnight connection - The 24/7 scheduled 15 minute shuttles can return you back to the Airport in 5 - 10 minutes. I did a 4 hour city tour from the hotel - so with an mid afternoon stopover and an early morning flight the next day I managed to see a good chunk of LA. Subway (Food) is next door.

The hotel was very clean and the service was excellent. Beds were exceptionally comfortable and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast buffet was delicious (extra charge). The only downside was that there were no restaurants in walking distance and the giftshop prices for drinks, snacks etc. were very expensive.

The entire staff was so nice and helpful. This place was awesome. The beds are very comfortable. The staff was also very accomodating. This was a wonderful place to stay. Also, with it being so close to LAX, the noise was minimal. I was pleasantly surprised by this.

Good, close to airport, which meant having less standard amenities. Cheapest parking that's close by was in the E-Z parking-lot behind the hotel. Or park for 2 hours at a time in the street behind the hotel next to the curb that's not marked red. Parking violations are enforced. Peaceful rooms, not noisy. Black/Dark-colored furniture. Easy on the eyes. Didn't like the fact that there is no fridge or microwave in the room. When I asked the staff at the front desk to get me 12 packets of sugar in the room, I left and came back to find that they left 13 packets of sugar :) Careful with the internet fee... they tried to add it to my bill at check-out, since I tried to login, and chose not to pay for the non-free internet access, but they still recorded that that was a use of their internet. I told them that I didn't use the internet, so they removed it, and I didn't have to pay for it. I would advise you to record the times you access the internet and double check that with your bill.

Everything i needed. Very courteous and accomodating staff. Will definitely re-visit. Bath/shower was a bit scratched up which didn't fit with otherwise good fit-out and decor

The overall appearance seems nice until you look closely. The beds are as hard as a rock and the bathrooms are in need of some serious updates. There was a red kool-aid looking stain on the carpet and the quality was definitely lacking. The staff was nice and the modern decor was alright. There is no "hotel" parking unless you count the lot across the street that is used for all airport travelers and is of course way overpriced. But then you could use the valet parking the hotel offers for double the price! I would not stay in this hotel again.

Room is very clean. It was perfect for my wife and myself in a 4 night stay. Parking garage price could be improved but it seems to be a L.A. commom problem everywhere you go. I will stay again in this hotel in future.

1. Compared to previous trips I have taken...I missed not having the option of the free, no-hassel breakfast I have enjoyed at other locations. 2. I asked for a breakfast in room between 6:30 and 6:45 (one of the options on the order card). I took a shower at 6:15 with the intent to be ready for breakfast at 6:30 and there was a knock on the door at 6:18. My meal was early! 3. The price on the order card for my omlet was $13 but I was charged $18. When I called it to attention of the server, he said the prices went up and the order card had not been replaced yet. To me that spoiled the experience of the meal. By the way, the food was good, and hot.

Location. Parking is bad. The hotel is a run of the mill 3 star business class hotel with a focus toward business travelers. The room was average and so was the staff. The valet parking rate is terrible and they charged us for internet usage that we didn't utilize and will be contacting our credit card company to reverse the charges.

The lobby looks great, but the room is not so great. The bath tubs were all cracked and chipped. When I request for a different room, they told me all the bath tubs were similar with the cracks. From reading the last review about the elevators problem, they are still having elevators problems. In fact, they closed all the elevators and ask everyone to use the service elevators. Same problem from the previous review about the room key didn't work. I only had one room key and the only key I had didn't work when I try to open my door. The most disappointing part was the wall is so thin, you can hear people opening and shutting the doors in the hallway. You can also hear your next door neighbor talking and watching TV.

I have been on many trips. Personal, and for business back when I worked in telco. This was one of the most pleasurable. From booking, to the hotel. Everything was great. I know they had a fitness room, pool, and business center. I did not use them, so I can't rate them. The staff was helpful and pleasant to deal with. From valet to room service, front desk to bell hops. I loved the location. While close to the airport, I did not have the noise I gotten from many other places. I loved the car rental return was a few blocks away, and the highway around the corner. Everything was nice and easy. On the pricey side for some I suppose. The gf has more travel experience than me, and would not deal with valet, internet, or some of the other things I choose to pay for. But it's a vacation, and I expect to pay for those things. I am not nickel and dimeing on my vacations. I am there to enjoy. So charge it up on the card baby! They did have two restaurants in the hotel. I did not eat at Shula's, but the other was a bit on the pricey side for what was offered. I simply did not think their food was worth it, and they had a short menu. I do not mind paying 10-15 a meal, but I expect it to be good, and I would like a bigger selection or variety on the menu. Keep in mind, we were traveling as two adults. No kids. So that I am sure can factor in when you have two more mouths to feed in regards to cost. However, I was very happy with my trip, and experience.
