This was a great hotel. It was very very close to all kinds of sightseeing in Edinburgh and literally only a few minutes walk to the castle and all the other famous attractions. Close to great restaurants and wonderful shopping. I used simply the bus to get from the airport to the hotel and did not take a taxi at all and had a HUGE suitcase. They let me check in at 8:30 in the morning for no extra charge which was wonderful because I was severly jetlagged. All in all, an excellent hotel. I didn't even get to use the spa or pool, which looked incredible.

Hotel rooms let this hotel down, for the price we paid the rooms were not what we expected, broken tiles in the bathroom, very small bathroom and a view of the car park.We could not book massage etc even giving 5 weeks notice.I wont be back .We even had to pay to use the car park.

Hotel staff was friendly. They happily changed my room when I was unhappy with the small size of the beds. The room we asked was supposed to have two double beds, but they were actually twin size. At first, I was not happy with the room that I was given. The room was supposed to have two double beds, but actually had two twin beds. I asked to be moved, and the staff immediately put me in a room with a king sized bed. They were very nice about it. On another note, I'm not really sure why this hotel was considered 5-star. I've stayed in hotels that were 4-star, and they were much nicer and less expensive.

Everything you could wish for in a 5 star hotel. Staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. We had a lovely relaxing break.

Stayed here for 2 nights, positives - very clean and excellent facilities available, swimming pool and gym facilities are complimentary. Good location, princess st and castle are short walk away negatives - very very expensive, spa not complimentary and pricey. Breakfast is not complimentary too (expensive - £16 each continental breakfast, £18 full breakfast!!), this should be for the price you pay. They have their own multi-storey car park which cost £8 for 24hrs. For rooms with the edinburgh castle view you gotta pay more. Overall probably one of the best hotels in the city, but for me not value for money

The Sheritan Grand, Edinburgh, Scotland was in a terrific location and is beautifully appointed with every amenity! I would recommend the Sheritan Grand, Edinburgh, Scotland in a heartbeat to anyone traveling to the UK! With an excellent location and friendly staff, it is ideal for business travelers, groups and holiday trravelers with and without children. The concierge was also very helpfull with his recommendations for a wide range of restaurants.

Clean rooms. Reasonable location. Long wait times for hotel staff to answer phone. Hotel is about ten minutes walk from the Royal mile. Good number of restaurants and grocery stores around the hotel. Room was not what I would expect for a five star hotel. Staff took a long time to answer calls to the front desk.

Rooms are spacious and clean. No free anything! Not even breakfast. You expect higher standards from a five star location. The neighborhood has some very suspect neighbors. Bottoms up show bar, a sauna that offers Thai massage. You also expect free amenities, like WiFi, business center, or breakfast. Nothing free offered here.

Good restaurants and great location. Didn't think it was a 5-star property, after staying at the 5-star Grosvenor House in London. Great location and excellent restaurants on site. Close to Princes Street and Edinburgh Castle. Friendly staff and helpful concierge. Great value.

Great location and amenities. I'm 6'08" and had a room with two single beds. Great location and amenities but not wild about the two single beds that I was given. Beds were not too comfortable as well.

Excellent location for a walking tour of Edinburgh City Center. Could not get a room with anything other than twin beds. The Sheraton Grand has an excellent location to sightsee in the city center. It has an easy elegance, not too stuffy, with a very friendly and helpful staff - right down to how to play the par five holes on the golf course they arranged for us!

The pool and spa. No free internet! In this day and age, unacceptable at 5 star level. The rooms and general state of the hotel is by no means what you would expect from a 5 star hotel, more like 4 stars. The spa makes up for it, although you have to pay extra to access most of the facilities. There was no free internet access which is not acceptable in 2008 from a 5 star hotel.
