Mulligans Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and you can also find snacks at Bogey's Lounge or espresso and pastries at the Sheraton Ferncroft's specialty coffee bar, Cafe on the Green.
Convenient to Routes 95 and 495, the many sights of the north shore are within easy reach of our hotel. Visit Salem, home of the witch trials of 1692, and the Peabody Museum, which features the glory days of the Salem sea captains and even Nathaniel Hawthorne's House of Seven Gables. Discover the beauty and charm of picturesque Marblehead, the yachting capital of the world.
Nearby Cape Ann offers glimpses of Gloucester's striking fishing fleet and the artist's colony of Rockport. For the more adventurous, skiing, boating, horseback riding, fishing, and ocean bathing are also only minutes away. And of course Boston, with its restaurants, great sports teams, and entertainment and historical venues, is just a short drive away as well.

Date of Stay:

the sheraton ferncroft hotel room was much nicer than i had expected. It was a large room with a flat screen tv, couch and granite in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and it appeared to have recently been remodeled.
Date of Stay:
June, 2009
The hotel was very nice. It was too far from anything, it was out of the way to stores, restaurants.

Rooms are DIRTY..........stains on comforters, smells like dirty feet (mabe mold?). shower curtain needs to be replaced along with ceiling tiles. Water park water was colder than normal and the hot tub was below average temp. It just felt GROSS being here. Mixed up staff members (each had a different way of doing things). Room came with water park passes (we were issued wrong color) so had to make a change with those. Reservations were for 3 days, went out for the day to find that our room keys didn't work, went to front desk "we had you checking out today". Thank goodness they didn't give our room away with all of our personal belongings..ie computer. Handicapped entrance is hidden way in the back of the hotel that doe not meet ADA. This stay included use of the health club, so after the cold water my husband and I went there to use the hot tub, I was told by that staff member that I needed a special pass from the front desk...............the bed is comfortable but the sheets are very rough. Had to use a blanket to sleep on, YUCK! ......THIS STAY WAS A BUST AND A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!! The soft serve ice cream at the water park was outstanding.

I have stayed at Sheraton's often throughout my life. The entrance, lobby, and hotel appearance is very nice...seemed clean and modern. I had asked for something to be done prior to my visit, and it was not. We faxed what we needed to, but no one followed up, after promising to do so. A lot of young front desk staff. Been in service all of my life. You know when someone is trying to "put you off". "Oh, you have several hours to handle that, you can do it later". Missing the whole point of-it was supposed to be done already, so I would not have to stand there & wait w/2 fidgety kids. Room was ok, needed a little update, could have been a little cleaner. I notice details, as a former waitress..some stains on comforter, some white something on wall (shave cream)? I just think if I notice, they should have. Rm service was fast and very good. Bruschetta too garlicky-don't get. Staff overall was very friendly and professional. Water park was a blast and to have a room to go to is a must. You need to take a break, and it's so nice to be able to do that. People on my floor were incredbily noisy until late. I was so tired, did not call to complain. Maybe ask for a floor "not near" any big groups. A lot of kids come to Water Park as a group and stay at hotel. Food in water park very pricey but fun and convenient. Water Park is clean and well operated. The hotel is "stayable" to be able to do the water park. That was our focus. I am rather picky and would not stay if hotel was any lower quality.

We stayed over after a wedding. Though everything was fine and we would stay there again there were a few problems. The elevators were not wowking correctly and the check in area was not orgainized well.

Although we had to pay extra for the water park, my children enjoyed it very much.

Had an issue with the heat when we first arrived. ENded up having to replace the heater. TOok about 2 and a half hours, but they fixed it. Staff was very friendly and they comped our passes to the water park because of it. Only drawback: Not being able to check-in earlier than 4pm. Rooms were nice and the facilities were very nice.

We changed rooms twice because of cleanliness, showers that didn't drain and no ceiling tiles. This hotel needs major renovations. It is dirty and in disrepair. My room stank of mildew. Very poor housekeeping and maintenance in rooms, elevators, everywhere. This is the worst place I've ever stayed - a very poor value for the money. This is a huge low for Sheraton.

There was an evacutaion at 1am. The announcement made over the hallway loud speaker, was very quiet! We were the only ones on our floor to actually leave the floor (4th floor). I think this was due to the fact it was so quiet. Then when we followed the emergency exits, they lead us down to a lower level with NO exit. We then became a larger group and had to walk back up 2 flight of stairs and travel through the entire hotel still not knowing what was going on, and find an alternate exit. The door on the first floor was locked from the inside. Which made us travel up another flight of stairs. Once we reached the lobby we were allowed to wait inside and the front desk had no idea what was going on, provided no information and looked more like deer in headlights than anything else. One front desk worker was even running around rather crazed. Needless to say I will never reccomend the ferncroft again!

We stayed at the hotel to enjoy the new water park. The kids loved the park (ages 12 & 13). The room was clean and newly updated. We called and asked for extra blankets and a cot which arrived within 10 minutes. Plus our room was ready when we arrived around noon. I highly recommend the water park for a family adventure and the hotel also provided a comfortable stay. I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical after reading some of the reviews, which is why I am taking the time to write this review.

Hotel was getting much needed renovations, but during our stay the power was out for several hours one day and we didn't have water for several hours another. The rooms were in HORRIBLE shape and smelled of cigarette smoke. They really should have closed during the renovation or at least offered rooms at a VERY reduced rate.

Easy access to the highway. Liked the location, close to Boston & the Northern Shore. The Sheraton Ferncroft is in desperate need of remodeling. It appears that Starwood has not invested any capital in updating and improving the hotel The front desk staff was very accommodating & friendly. The front lobby was very attractive. Guest rooms were very spacious. The pool & gym seemed very nice, but did not use them. The location was perfect, easy to drive to Boston and easy access to the highway to drive to Salem, Gloucester & Rockport. The plasma TV's were nice. The guest rooms are in need of updating. The hallways looked although they had not been vacuumed in weeks. The hotel has potential, but Starwood needs to invest some capital to make improvements. It would of been a convenience had the USA Today been delivered to your hotel room door. Based on other hotels I've stayed at it appeared to be a no frills hotel.

The hote was getting a much needed facelift. The Lobby was unusable. The furniture was beat-up & old. The only saving grace as the staff. This was a rip-off. Sheraton should have closed during remodeling. By staying open, they forever lost this customer
