Don't book this hotel! Way overpriced. Service issues. They charge for everything and it feels like you are being scammed for tips. Bad service at the restaurant. The hotel smells like urine! Access to the beach is confusing, blocked and a little dangerous. Don't ask for anything, the answer is usually..."sorry, but..."

This was a great location on the beach and a decent room. The lobby and lounges are deceptively nice, highlighting the fact that the rooms are a bit old. The bathroom was a bit small but the balcony was nice. My only complaint is that they initially tried to put me in a room without a view or balcony when I had paid for a deluxe room. They gladly solved the problem when I said something, so it was no big deal.

My family visited the Shelborne and had a great time. The hotel was charming, right on the beach and near the boardwalk which took us through South Beach. The staff was very nice and gave us great suggestions on places to go at reasonable prices. The rooms very lovely. The food in their restaurant was fresh, delicious and plentiful; and we loved eating by the pool and in the warmth of the sun. My husband's company often travels to the South for meetings and he is going to suggest this place.

We stayed at the Shelbourne with high expectations based upon the information on the web site. When we arrived (Memorial Day Weekend)the staff was overwhelmed by other Guests and the inability to control crowds. There was extensive trash throughout the Hotel, noise, nudity and open use of drugs in the rooms and the Grounds. When we complained we were told that because it was "Urban Festival Weekend" nothing could be done. This Hotel should have maintained order on their property - there was no excuse. The website does not accuratly reflect the condition of this property.

Nice lobby and bar, friendly staff. Having stayed at other south beach boutique hotelsI was not expecting much. The room was very clean with nice modern furniture. The bathroom was tastefully remodeled also.

Booked the Shelborne on a special package and loved it! I got a special price, free breakfast and a free upgrade to a beautiful room right on the beach! The staff were very nice and helpful. The room seemed like it was brand-new. The resturant and bar are and are real nice and affordable right near the pool . The had two different clubs and we were near everything in South Beach. We both got great tans and relaxed: it was just what we needed. I'll rate it an A+!

I've been in South Beach several times now and this is one of my best experiences, yet. The hotel was great, the staff was very nice and the room was beautiful. It seemed like it was brand new and I thought that I got a great value for what I paid (that's very important to me!) I loved the pool and the bartenders were great.

Gotta say -- i did my research before i went to SOBE and Shelborne was WORTH IT. worth the stay worth the money -- I loved living there it was the best location the beach was 2 secs away..it was close to all the bars and clubs (couple blocks away) We got to chill at the pool as well as at the beach loved it.

I loved the view of the room the feeling you get when you walk in. The colors of the furniture and the design. The security.

THE ROOM DOES NOT LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THE PICTURES! We were supposed to check, but checked out when we got there. Ursula (Asst. Mgr) was not accommodating and very rude. She told us the car needed to be moved, but did not give us useful information on where to park. She told me valet could park it, but the valet guy was not there and she argued with me that there was a man there. Until finally she asked the doorman and he said the guy was not there. We went to check into the room and the key card wouldn't work. They asked maintenance to open the door. My kids were scared because the hotel floors were dingy, dirty and dark. Maintenance opened the door and the room was old and again floors were dingy, kitchenette was old and room was stuffy. We did not stay.

We stayed here and for the most part it was ok.. althought we had problems with the bar tender.. he was soooo full of himself and rude!!!!!! he made it uncomfortable to go down to the pool area and lay out to the point where we avoided eating at the resturant because of him!!!!!!! i wouldnt really recomend staying here.. the pics are better online than in person.. the hotel does not have chairs like most other hotels.. and the secutiy is lacking a little.. the rooms were cute but the paint in hallways was pealing and looking a little nasty.. have stayed at nicest hotels in south beach for sure.. but it was a last minute trip we planned two days before we left so it was the only option.. there was also a lot of little kids running around with no parents watching them.. when i go to south beach its not usually a family place..

The hotel was in a great location, but there was a slight odor in the entire hotel. I did not get the ocean view room I paid. After much protest, I only got a partial ocean view room. There was no ice machine in the hotel and the front desk staff was not very pleasant. The bathrooms are very small and the shower faucet didn't work very well. The beds were very uncomfortable & squeaky and the walls are very thin.

Location. Room was old, smelled bad, carpet wet, ac quit, TV was not working properly. Very small, bed spread and furnishings old and dingy, there was no remote for the TV and the channels wouldn't change. Then we took our shoes off and realized the entire carpet was soaked! $30 for parking and they were rude to us. They have a beautiful lobby but that's where the luxury ends. I would NEVER stay at this hotel again!

Like the other writers noted DO NOT GO BY THE PICTS....rooms are dirty, floors has vomit in the hallway, room floors stained, toilet dirty, dresser warped and bubbled up, pool cold, stinkin, old, NOT accomodating at ALL....RIP OFF, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY,,,,its a wonder the place is not shut down yet?....

Location and lobby. Parking, lack thereof and lack of planned accommodations. Staff nice and friendly. Parking is a disaster and they had no inclination to help.

i stayed at the shelborne in november 2008. i am very pleased with the service and the hotel. since i came in i was greeted with a smiling face. front desk was awsome...very nice and helpfull. i requested a room with a view and it was given to me without any problems. concierge and bellman staff was also very helpfull. room had a great view and though was not very big, i enjoyed the ocean very much, since i woke up. it also had a fridge and microwave, which helped a lot. i would definetely recommend this hotel and will come again soon!
