Location. Lots of broken items. Hotel located in great location, competent staff and cleaner rooms. The lack of proper maintenance of this hotel is apparent from the large gaps between the mirror & vanity in the bathroom, to the broken door frame to the room and the saggy old mattresses. It was apparent to me that the present owners are not reinvesting enough money back into the property.

This hotel is now called the Shamrock, and it's very conveniently located for Shannon Airport. However, the rooms close to the lobby and those on the parking lot side are noisy due to people coming and going at all hours in lots of tour busses. There is no air conditioning, as in most of Ireland, so noise is especially problematic in the summer when you need the windows open for air. Sandwiches in the bar were very good; we had to leave too early to get breakfast.

Basic but OK for a night or twoThe hotel was easy to find and in a quiet location next to Bunratty Castle and the Folk Park and a few shops. The room was very basic but reasonably clean. Could do with a refurb and paint. I would say it was OK for a night or two, but unless you are used to basic living, its suitable for nothing more than that.

Good location between Shannon and limerick. One of the rooms smelled of smoke. An older hotel that was updated several years ago. staff very friendly. Rooms a little on the small side but clean with nice firm beds. Would not be happy to pay full price.

Good Value but in poor repairWhile we had a very enjoyable stay, staff were friendly and it was very good value for money - the bunratty shannon shamrock hotel is in a very poor state of repair. Our room was definitely in need of some tender loving care - it was very clean but the bathroom was not up to scratch - toilet seat broken, toilet paper holder broken, base of bath section cut out and not repaired, sink had crack in basin. There was no information booklet in the room and when i enquired was told hotel was under new management this seems to be the case since prior to Nov 08 and it is now April O9 plenty of time to get act together. We had a meal in the bar while we were there and it was good value for a family of 4. We didnt have a meal in the restaurant but breakfast was served there the next morning. The decor definitely in need of improvement but again staff were helpful and there was plenty for breakfast while I cant say it was brilliant it wasnt bad. I would go back again especially as it was good value but would like to see improvements made to the decor.

too much moneythis hotel absolutely stinks of damp throughout and the rooms needed updating 20 years ago. we were kept awake all night thanks to a disco that was in full flow until the early hours, we didnt shower due to the grotty bathroom and were only too pleased to get in our car and get out of the place. a total rip off.

Nice cosy hotel set in beautifull surrounds, furniture very dated with some of the chairs in the bar litteraly falling apart. staff for the most part were very friendly and helpfull but i have to say that the service in the breakfast lounge was very poor to say the least.

Arrived to find that restaurant was closed, so now meals or breakfast available. Told would reopen Thursday, in fact opened Fri/Sat but then closed bar breakfast for the remainder of the stay.Room was cleaned daily, but tea/coffee facilities poor and not stocked, took 3 hours to get a sachet of coffee! Unable to order coffee/tea during the day.Noisy at weekends particularly, There is a nightclub open Fri/Sat which I wasn't aware of.Room was next to some plant outside which kept sunning all night. On the plus side the leisure facilities, pool sauna etc are good.

all in all we were happy with our stay but despite paying 5 euros for breakfast in room, our not receiving it at 7am as requested put night before put us under huge pressure for our flight (09.30) ryan air insist on two hour check in and our breakfast didn't arrive until 07.25 which meant we really had to swallow it down fast, instead of sitting and enjoying it as we'd planned. we were travelling with a 10 month baby and our late departure from the hotel caused us no end of stress.

We had an early morning flight and we got no sleep. We were treated to shouting. singing and laughing throughout the night. We think they were wedding guests.

Lovely Hotel right next to Bunratty Castle which we visited the next day. Myself and my teenage son only stayed one night, we ate in the restaurant, food was fantastic, as was breakfast the next morning. Staff were very helpful, locked our backpacks away whilst we visited the castle, and then booked our taxi for us to go back to Airport. Room was very clean with all the usual things you find like hairdryer, refreshment making facilities etc. Would definitely stay there if visiting Shannon again.

I have only given this a 3 for the quality of the room because there were certain \"housekeeping\" activities that needed doing but it was clean, very warm and quiet. Overall the hotel was good value for money as long as you're not expecting luxury.......I would certainly stay there again.

Disappointing. My non-smoking room had a strong smell of stale smoke. Bathroom, although large, smelt of the drain, had black mould on the ceiling, cracked marble hand basin, low quality shower. Much of the veneer wood furniture was chipped, felt a bit old and not well maintained. Perhaps I was in an older section of the hotel? Web site says all rooms have wireless internet, not true, I was told I could only get wireless internet access in the lobby. However, the staff were friendly and the hotel lobby is nice, and the room was spacious.

good value for money at 69 euro. Room was okay but smelled of smoke. Very convenient for shannon airport
