The Shangri-La Golden Flower Hotel was a very comfortable, and roomy hotel. Each night when they turned down the bed they would place a bookmark with nice sayings from the book Lost Horizon on the pillow. We have kept the bookmarks and use them. They remind us of the beautiful times we had in Xi'an and at the hotel. The restaurant's staff was also very helpful and courteous and had great food. The evening buffet was fantastic! They had American as well as Chinese food. The gift shop was more than the normal hotel gift shop. The location is fine but it is too far to walk to the Walled City. Taxi's are cheap and easy to get.

Altgough my booking was only for one night, I actually stayed 3 nights at the Xian Golden Flower duo to an illness.I would like to express my appreciation to all the staff at this hotel who helped make me feel as comfortable as possible while I was ill. Everyone was Professional and genuinely friendly at the Golden Flower. I wish to give special thanks to Duty Manager, who went out of her way to ensure that i was well taken care. This level of service is truly outstanding.Xian shangri-La Golden Flower will from now on be My hotel whenever I go to Xian.

We stayed one night at the Shangri-la Golden Flower while visiting the Terracotta Warriors. The hotel was reasonably clean and comfortable, though definitely no more than a three-star level by international standards.However, we were very disappointed by the service we received at the Xi'an airport. When we arrived, we went up to the Golden Flower counter at the airport to see whether they had a hotel shuttle. There was no shuttle, but a man in a Shangri-la uniform wheeled our luggage over to the taxi stand. He arranged a taxi for us and told us it would be 170 rmb for the trip. While we were riding in the taxi, he called us again and asked us if we wanted to contract the same taxi driver for the following day's trip to see the Warriors. We declined. Later, we found out from the hotel front desk that the metered taxi ride should be no more than 100 rmb or so at most. Obviously the man at the airport counter was colluding with the taxi driver to pressure hotel guests into using his services at exorbitant rates. Very disappointing.
