Description:
- A charming hotel set in the middle of a palm grove,
Shali Lodge is located within a five-minute walk
from the center of Siwa town. Built in traditional
Siwan style, it includes 16 rooms, a restaurant
and a rooftop sitting area overlooking the
surrounding palm trees and gardens. Shali
Lodge welcomes travelers to the natural comforts
of Siwan hospitality. Simple yet elegant rooms
furnished with palm frond chairs, tables and
beds complemented with colorful Bedouin
carpets.
- The lodge is conveniently located in close
proximity to the archeological sites of the area.
The old town of Shali, built in Salt and clay, is
only five minutes walk from the lodge, as is
the neigboring market-place, where visitors
can shop for the unique and colorful handi-
crafts of Siwa.
- Shali Lodge*s restaurant is regarded as one
of the best in town. Meals are served in a
variety of indoor and out door settings. In the
evenings, a breezy rooftop tarrace overlooking
the surrounding palm trees is the perfect place
to dine, or to simply relax and enjoy the
splendor of Siwa's star-studded sky.
- Dishes include Tajin Macarona, Vegetable and
Beef Couscous, and our special Date Crepes.
Relax on the terrace, shaded by date-palms that
sprout through the floor, or in the den down-
stairs, strewn with cushions and warmed on
crisp nights by a wood-burning fire. Special
orders can be arranged for groups who wish
to enjoy a slow roasted local free-range delicacy
offered in the hotel or as a safari dining.

- Shali Lodge features 16 rooms. Eight were built
in 2001 and another eight were finished in 2007.
Building follows traditional Siwan houses style
using the same building styles and techniques
that had been used in the oasis for centuries.
Ceilings are made of palm beams, while doors,
windows and fixtures are made of olive wood
from annual tree trimmings. Furnishings are
simple, yet of the highest quality, drawing
exclusively on local materials and designs.
Contemporary plumbing is used throughout.
There are 9 single rooms, with a queen size
bed, 5 double rooms, with a king size bed and
2 triple with a king size bed and a single bed.

Transportation:
- Take the Cairo ? Alexandria desert road. At the
101-km make a U. Turn left to take Tarik El Geish,
which is Al-Alamein connecting road. This road
intersects with the Alexandria. Marsa Matrouh
road after 134Km. Make a U-turn in the direction
of Marsa Matrouh on the Alex Matrouh highway.
18 kilometers before Marsa Matrouh look for
*Tam Oil* gas station. Stop there to fill up, it is
the last gas station before the village of Siwa.
Follow the directions to Saloum. Make U-turn
less than 1 km after Tam Oil. That leads you
to the ring road around Marsa Matrouh.
Continue along the ring road until you reach
a military police checkpoint, immediately after
which there is a U-turn to take the road to
Siwa. After approximately 300 km, there is
a military police checkpoint, not necessarily
manned. Once you have passed the Siwan
door *Welcome to Siwa* continue straight
ahead until you find the Siwa polica station.
Turn on the left of the station-You will find
yourself on the market place, the Old fortress
of Shali on your right. Turn on the left on the
market place, a small coffee shop should be
on your right, and continue straight ahead in
the palm tree grove. You should find Shali
Lodge on your left 500m after the market place.
