Description:
Historic hotel built in 1923. The original hotel had 33 European style sleeping rooms with no private restrooms. Renovations were completed in 2005 and the hotel reopened in 2006 with 14 modern rooms with private bath and 5 traditional. For the 5 remaining traditional rooms without private baths there are 2 community baths. The hotel is a two story rust colored buildingwith multi colored trim work around the windows and doors. Parking is out front on Main Street and on the side of the building. The property includes a garden with gazebo for outside fuctions and includes a covered picnic patio area with picnic tables. We also have our own banquet room that seats up to 90 guests for a meeting or luncheon. Attached to the property is Pop Shaffers Restaurant. Open Tuesday-Sunday 0700-1500. The restaurant was completed in 1931. They offer room service to hotel guest along with catering functions in the banquet room and garden. We also have added a fire pit out side for our guests to enjoy a night outside next to the fire ot to barbeque. Also added is a workout room and a gamn room, which has pool tables and other games for our guests to enjoy.

Location Description:
The Hotel is tucked in the corner of Hwy 55 and Hwy 60. Mountainair is turning into an arts community. Within miles of the hotel are the Salinas National Monuments, Indian Ruins, ancient cities that have been weathered but show the strengths of an amazing exsistance that was there some hundreds of years ago. There is also a local trail with horseback rides. Establised in 1923 by Clem *Pop* and Lena *Ma* Shaffer. They are said to still mingle with guests over 40 years after their deaths.
