We were ecstatic that we actually were able to check-in early at the SELECT INN Monticello in Monticello, MN, so we could attend a wedding and not have to return later before attending the reception to check-in and unload our luggage. We were pleasantly pleased with the accommodation of the desk people and their friendliness. The room was cozy and overlooked the pool area. The pool area was awesome for those who wanted to swim or visit the jacuzzi area. The continental breakfast was a nutritional and filled our breakfast needs. We had a pleasant stay and will stay again at this motel.

Really friendly. The stale smoke smell was overwhelming in the room. Liked everything else but that was harsh. A very friendly, economical hotel in a great location if you are heading toward Albertville. Everything was great, but the stale smoke smell (at least that was our guess) was quite overwhelming in our room. Once you were in there a while you got used to it but anytime I left and came back, whew!

I would not recommend anyone to stay here. I am very concerned that it is a breeding ground for pests, infections, and some serious security breeching. Here are some of the things we encountered during our stay: -side entrance doors propped open by rug -water damage to ceiling and at base of walls (potential black mold problems?) -floors not vaccuumed in rooms or halls -picked up garbage in plain view off floors in our rooms -rooms had a horrible, foul smell to it -dimmly lit rooms -relatives next door had sheets changed because of fecal/blood stains -dirty, stained towels -shower drain backed up, husband showered in standing, dirty, hair-filled water -pool area--FILTHY! full ashtrays (I believe it was a non-smoking area, too), dirty tables-sticky, and bottles and cans still on them. -did not smell chlorine in the pool area so I question if it had chlorine in it -saw two employees during stay, a desk clerk and a bartender -complained to desk clerk upon checking out--he didn't even offer an apology I think this is the only hotel in Monicello with a pool which is why we chose to stay here because we have young children. However, I would highly recommend that no one stay here for that reason. It is dirty, smells bad, and very unsafe. I would look to Albertville, or Becker to say if you had to be near Monticello and wanted a pool. We will never stay here again, nor will any of our family.

Nothing. Dirty room, carpet, sheets, towels, dirty fridge, no high speed connection, rude front desk, horrible! We stayed at this hotel one year ago last summer and felt it was fine. This summer, inexcusable. It was disgusting. Filth and dirt everywhere, stained towels, food crumbs in our clean room, counters dirty, it looked like it had not been cleaned or maintained at all since the last time we were there, very disappointing, we have 3 young kids, it was the last night stay of a wonderful trip, a treat for them to stay in a hotel and it was so disgusting, I didn't want them to swim in the pool, there was filth all around, but how do you stop a 3, 4 and 6 year old from jumping in, we promised them this treat. I have never been so grossed out and was disappointed. That place needs to be torn down it's that filthy.

Called to review the ammenities by phone prior to booking. The staff were rude and sarcastic. It was a family function, and all agreed to give it a try anyway, due to location and price. We had 4 rooms total; of these 2 rooms were booked wrong/missing. Confirmation of bookings/rooms was presented, yet poor customer service to fix the problems. One room needed to be a smoking double room, and they offered to put in a roll away, and then wanted to charge for it. The other room was promptly fixed when mention of better business bureau, in fact there was a room "found" when there hadn't been one before. The hotel itself is old, in desperate need of some inside remodeling (paint, carpet, furniture, windows, etc), and has a bad odor. The screen in my room was bent as if someone had tried to climb in/out it. Didn't feel too safe.

Dirty rooms, toilet didn't flush--manager blame us for it when maintenance person said they had same problem day before. Sauna out of order, No HBO or high speed internet as stated. Late night skinny dippers in pool area woke us up. Place is in need of general maintenance. Couldn't pay us to stay there again.
