As a warm and friendly, privately-owned hotel, the Selandia offers great value for money, an excellent location and good service. (10/07 MK) It is a traditional red brick building with uniformed rectangular and arched windows and very typical of Copenhagen. The Selandia is located in the heart of Copenhagen, adjacent to the central station. The area the hotel is situated in has in recent years undergone considerable regeneration and is now a trendy district in which to live, with many bars, coffee shops and restaurants. The location makes it convenient to most of Copenhagen's major attractions including Tivoli gardens, the longest Pedestrainised shopping street in Europe - Storget, cinemas, restaurants and the direct airport train link at central station.

The hotel serves breakfast only, in a room adjoining the lobby. It is a large, open planned room with classic white tables and chairs throughout, and nature-influenced colours helping create a cosy and relaxing space.

The hotel smelled of smoke and is an unattractive buiding. We decided to leave the hotel and stay somewhere else.

I found this hotel to be clean, comfortable and efficient. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was ample and varied. The location is within easy walking distance of Tivoli and the train station, where it is easy to get transportation to the rest of the city. We were able to find street parking easily, so I never asked whether the hotel had off-street parking available. As is typical of European cities, the area near the train station tends to be where the professional girls and the strip clubs are located. They were only noticeable after 10pm or so. I walked around in the evening and did not have any problem. The neighborhood itself is urban but not particularly run down. I parked my car on the street and did not have any problem. I bumped into a couple other tourists who also parked their cars on the street and none of them had trouble. For being in an urban area, the hotel was quiet. The hotel itself felt secure My kids are grown. Would I have stayed here if my kids were smaller? I probably would, since the kids would long be in bed before the seedier side of the neighborhood would beome apparent. In my opinion, the proximity to Tivoli and the train station is worth it.

Very friendly day clerk who was EXTREMELY helpful. Good security. Room small and a bit worn-looking, but it was clean and the bed was fine. Everything worked. Had a nice hot shower even at 2 a.m. The Internet in the lobby was sluggish. It would have been nice to be able to print my boarding pass for my flight the next day, but this was not available. The location was perfect for my purpose -- I only had 18 hours in Copenhagen. The breakfast set-up was very good, and the breads and rolls were AWESOME. (Re the Thank you Card, I am not sure about it, but I think I did not get one, certainly not at the Hotel.)

The staff at the front desk were outstanding and very efficient. The location was excellent as it is in the heart on the city.

The location is quite convenient, but a little seedy. Just walk past the hookers and the drug users and you are within easy walking distance of major attractions and the tourist information center. The breakfast was quite good. The staff was very friendly, very helpful, and spoke English. We opted for a room without bath and toilet facilities. Those common facilities down the hall were completely adequate. There was no air conditioning, but in early May we didn't need it. If we go back to Copenhagen, we will stay here again and get the same kind of room.

Nice clean rooms. There was a lot of noise from the street outside. The location is near to the central railway station, but is also in the red light district.

Very friendly staff. No frills, but you don't visit Copenhagen to stay in your room.
