Having paid for a return airport shuttle bus promising delivery to hotel door, we were disappointed that this property is deemed to be too far out of the CBD for this service. Its location also meant frequent taxi rides to and from the city, thus negating any perceived value in its rack rate. The bad news is that neither the fridge nor the airconditioning worked properly resulting in (a) food spoilage and (b) frayed tempers. The good news is that the rooms are spacious and clean and the staff were professional, friendly and very helpful.

Beware and stay away! While the price seemed attractive, it ended up costing us more than we bargained for. Room service was painful, with repeated requests for many of the basics necessary, and cleaning staff stole $100 from our bedside table!!! Our brief getaway ended up entailing more costs, police investigations and patronizing responses from senior management staff. After initialing reporting the theft to weekend management - who responded with sincerity and real concern, senior management on Monday morning wiped clean their efforts by stonewalling our experience our experience and referring us onto our travel insurance company. No follow up has been provided yet by staff. Hotel facilities such as the spa were constantly breaking down and the door staff appear more interested in checking guests out than in!. Such a let down. We had been regular guests of the Carlton Crest previous, but the Sebel Citigate Albert Park can have their take over all to themselves!! No thanks.

I advise all future guests to scrutinise the "extras bill" as they had added "valet parking" to my 7 day stay - i did not have a car with me. The "non smoking" hotel, was a poor description. I frequently smelt cigarette smoke wafting around on the upper floors, yet nothing was done to resolve this. Further, in light of the charges applied to the room rates, to pay extra for a basic breakfast restaurant, is "nit picking" in my opinion. In my opinion, the hotel is ok, but nothing special. Best left to business meetings of short duration. I spent 7 days as a guest, and it was not something i would repeat.

Not much in the area but very close to the City centre, a short (and cheap cab) ride to either St Kilda or the CBD. Room was nice and large (Lakeview), good facilities within the hotel.

The restaurant was grossly over-priced and under-sized. I ordered whiting fillets as a main meal. The dish would hardly have made it as an entrée. And chips (which they oddly called 'fries') were an added extra. Not impressed. Apart from that, the hotel was very nice, and good value at the rate paid through hotelclub.net.

Location was excellent across the road from Albert Park and 5mons from St Kilda Beach. Easy to get to places by car and tram. Room was good size and clean. Had sideways view over lake and St Kilda in the distance. On the downside, queen bed only had 2 pillows and room had poor Foxtel choice and screen was pixellated. Maid service was varied with some items not replaced on weekend.

the staff are very friendly. location is good, 5 min drive to the CBD. though no free parking in the hotel, but easy to find free street parking after 6pm the only bad thing is it may be noisy in the morning because of lots of travel tours leaving in the early morning
