Loved it, and will go back!
Date of Stay:

Small musty room with no view. Some rooms in this hotel might pass for 2 star quality. But there is a basement wing in the hotel, where customers seems to be housed, that is not 2 star in my opinion. The rooms are very small, smell musty and there is no view. The pool was never open. The hotel was not that full. I asked if I could upgrade my room for an additional charge and was told no.

We were given sub-ground level rooms during the rains. We had to wade through an extremely wet carpet to get in-out of the room. The rooms themselves were clean, but need a major overhaul.

The staff was friendly but that is the extent of it. Very old but somewhat clean. Outside of our bathroom window looked like a junk yard, many discarded items. The parking was a nightmare, the overflow parking was in the street and/or an adjacent dirt lot. There was little or no control of the pool usage. Many local/non-guests would walk in and use the pool. Do not try to save a few $$ like I did, it will ruin your trip. Honestly, I am very tolerant and rarely complain about anything; as a result, this is the first review I have ever written. Please take heed. Mahalo!

Basic accommondations, clean but nothing fancy. Phone with charges for local calls, TV and mini-fridge only ammenities in the room. Good food in the restuarant. Parking can be a problem. EXCELLENT STAFF- very personable and they promptly responded to a rowdy guest complaint. Hotel is NON-Smoking anywhere inside. A fair value for the money.

We stayed only two days, but I liked the atmosphere of the place. Nice garden, but not as quiet as one could want. We went to the Volcano Park, and as such the location was perfect, if staying in Hilo. One could have wanted windows that could be shut to keep out noise. The room wasnøt that important to us, as we only statyed two days, but it was definately a good room, and I liked the garden right outside.

Clean with friendly staff. This hotel was nice and met my expectations. Clean and safe hotel with friendly staff. The location was not the best. It was not in walking distance of the downtown shops which forced us to drive/park downtown which was not always convenient.

Upon check in I found the staff very friendly. No complaints about the room as previous review stated. Laundry facility located on property which is a plus. There is a restaurant located on the property and found the food very tasty. There are several eatting spots within walking distance. Besides Ken's try Verna's Drive Inn the Pastele Plate was the Bomb! I would definately return, you can't go wrong with the price. One other thing we stayed by the Pool side and there was not a sound from those Coquie frogs :o)

I have stayed at Hilo Seaside three times in the past 2 months. It is convenient, 7 minutes from the airport, close to downtown Hilo and the malls. The staff are very accomodating and friendly. The resurant has excellent food. The crab cake eggs benedict is to die for. The pool and pool area are so serene. I can't say enough about the local atmosphere!!

Location was central to my needs. Clean hotel but old. The furnishings were old and unattractive. Clean rooms although furnishings and amenities were old and well used. Hotel could stand a remodeling. Staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. The location is one mile from airport and is central to many activities. Restaurant was affordable but at times the service was very slow. Food was ok and convenient. Overall a good value.

a peaceful, quiet, clean place. the pool is not big but nice, problem it is open from 9 to 6 only. especially staff is so friendly as you could wish. oldfashioned but clean and well refurbished, this place creates a sweet atmosphere that got me to relaxing immediately.

Older facility but clean. Friendly staff. Good location. Have to park on street or in crowded lot about a block from entrance.

Everything perfectly clean and in great condition. It is basically an over-grown roadside motel. No internet access in room. Thumbs up to the staff for great care of the hotel. Architecturally though it is horrible. My room had the only window facing the outdoor corridor where the entrance was. Don't let the Seaside confuse you. It is an airport roadside motel. Albeit a very good one.

Basic hotel. No frills. Good location. Airport noise didn't bother us. No free wireless internet access. Housekeeping staff was very friendly and cordial, but had to ask for additional shampoo when we'd run out with bottle obviously empty. Front desk was helpful but varied by personnel. The hotel parking lot had limited space and filled quickly. Over flow parking was available on the "beach" across the street requiring a bit of "offroad" driving which can be a challenge in the dark the first night of one's stay.

The hotel was good for our expectations. We were a bit unhappy when we checked in to our room. There was some mild smell but the next day we did not feel anything. The restroom was good and the location of the hotel was good too. But we later realised that there are not a lot of hotels around there and almost all other hotels were similar too. The hotel is so close to the airport and other shops. Also it is just a few minutes walk to the lilioukalani gardens and coconut island. You can go for a refreshing walk on the banyan drive and lots of local restaurants nearby. We stayed there only for 2 days and mostly were out, so there is nothing much to comment about the hotel services. The staff were friendly and helped us with directions and some extra information.

Convenient location and comfortable rooms. Parking was somewhat inconvenient. The hotel was conveniently located between the airport and downtown. It was adjacent to a lovely park and the waters of Bay. Parking was not very convenient but the staff was pleasant and the room was comfortable.

We stayed at this hotel for one night after visiting Volcanoes National Park and were flying out early in the morning so location close to the airport was important to us. The pool was closed when we got there - appeared to be undergoing some maintenance? Not really sure what the story was on that. The parking situation is a bit of a challenge as they don't have much of a parking lot. Fortunately we were able to find a spot on the street right across from the entrance so we got lucky. The room seemed reasonably clean but the walls were incredibly thin. Every time someone walked past our door during the night we could hear their conversation as if they were inside the room. At some point during the night someone tried to enter our room (were they lost??). Hotel staff was friendly at check in and check out and seemed happy to help. We walked down the street to another restaurant for dinner so can't say anything about the on-site restaurant. There is a nice parade of banyan trees down the street which makes for a pretty walk. The price was reasonable for the location - not somewhere I would have wanted to stay for a long time but after reading some of the prior reviews of this place, we were not sure what to expect. We didnt see any bugs or substantial dirt. The room was a bit dated but functional. I'd have no problem staying here again.

It took 2 minutes to check in. Everything was ready and the staff was efficient. The volcano is only 29 miles away, straight trip on Rt 11. Stopped at the beautiful and aromatic orchid gardin (nursery) on the way back on Rt 11. Fantastic orchids raised, bred and for sale. Other items in huge retail portion - good prices, friendly knowledgeable people. Rainbow & Akaka falls very close by. Akaka falls is the one you see in movies. A good camera is a must even though you can get very close. You have to do this. Ken's Pancake House a block away. Open 24/7 good prices, service & food. Breakfast $6-$10, dinner $9-$13, senior discount after 3pm age 55. Ate there a lot! Take a Garmin with you. Makes things easier. The address of hotel is "Way" not DR.

It was relatively cheap. It was dark and dank. The staff was less than friendly. Having stayed in Hilo before, I knew what to expect from the hotels in the area. This hotel however was a bit more run down than I expected. The beds are in dire need of replacement. Having to traverse multiple stair cases getting to and from the room was a major problem. The staff was less than friendly. I would not stay there again.

I read the reviews and decided to take a chance on Seaside despite the warnings from previous travelers. Unfortunately they were right, this place is awful. The staff is rude and unhelpful. The location is terrible, rooms are dirty and environment loud and unsafe. The Coconut Grille is just as bad. I thought having an onsite restaurant would be convenient but the service was deplorable. They gave me someone elses order and argued with me that I did order this meal. I have never met such unfriendly and dishonest people. I would never recommend Seaside or the Coconut Grille. You will be very grateful that you stayed and ate somewhere else.
