The best rate was in the Inn not the hotel which it totally separate from the main hotel. This can be good for privacy but not as convenient to everything. When staying in this resort it is necessary to cross the bridge to get to the island. It costs $6 to cross the bridge each time to go over to the island. No return charge to come back.

Great views and friendly staff. Room was very fresh and clean. Charged a $15 resort fee each day. Not sure exactly what it was for.

They gave us a room at Grande Bay, which is a 5-minute walk from the main hotel. Unfortunately, we valet parked at the main hotel. So, we had to wait for the car, put the baby in his seat, load the luggage, drive to the other building and park in the self-park lot adjacent to the Grande Bay... I was disappointed with the condition of the hotel ? the elevators were dirty and the hallways needed vacuuming. The positives: our room was large and we had amazing views of the bay. Aside from that, the carpet was heavily stained and felt "damp" and the a/c was broken. We called the front desk and asked for a room in the main hotel, which they promptly agreed to do. The main hotel was better, but the elevator cabs were also dirty and our (smaller) room was humid and muggy. They have 2 pools at this hotel. The main pool was always crowded. Found the 2nd pool on our last day (not as large but nearly empty) with hammocks available for public use. Unfortunately, about 10 minutes later they began holding a reunion by the pool area. Everyone was hanging by the pool, which made us uncomfortable, so we left. Must mention? our room had the most disgusting tv remote control I?ve EVER seen. I used 6 baby wipes trying to get the grime out from between the buttons. Also, carefully check your bill when you checkout. We ordered drinks by the pool one afternoon and they double-billed us. After we checked out, they billed other stuff to our card, which we are STILL disputing. Finally, the hotel is far from everything ? at least a 20 minute drive. Be prepared to drive if you want to go anywhere. Better yet, stay elsewhere.

We stayed at the location not at the main hotel and it was very mediocre. We came in after 8pm and there was no one to direct us or to help us with our luggage. We had to self park and search around until we found someone to show us where to go and how to check in. If you are going to stay here, be sure to be in the main hotel.....that was a better place to spend your time.

The friendliness and professionalism of all the staff. The time it took to cook a pizza! The hotel was a true resort. Although we did not take advantage of the facilities of the resort, it was clearly very well appointed. As we used the hotel as a base to discover Sanibel island. Breakfast instead of the mandatory charge for facilities that we did not use.

It really sad when a potentially stunning resort gets run into the ground because of housekeeping. The lobby floor was filthy, the elevators are grimey, there is food laying on the floor under the bar rail that has never been cleaned. Our room had urine on the toilet seat from the prior guests. The management was very apologetic. We only stayed 1 night of our 3 night booking. It is a great location. The steakhouse was excellent.

Over priced, hotel advertised as a resort but had to travel 1/4 mile to spa. Continental breakfast was cold items and they ran out of items 2 of the 3 mornings. Also there was no access to a beach area. Carpet in the room was dirty with stains and furnished with old furniture including a small TV.

My Husband and I went there on our 20th Wedding Anniversary. It was a great place to go. Only thing that I wasn't please with, was the kids next to our room was very noisy.

My teenage daughter and I really enjoyed the heated pool, and the restaurant by the tennis courts. Sanibel is natural and yet this hotel didn't even use the coiled low energy light bulbs! No apparent environmental consideration. Loved the huge Christmas tree, friendly staff, heated pool and fantastic fresh fish. Very disappointed in no attempt to be environmentally friendly.

I planned this trip two weeks prior just for a weekend of relaxation. Our room faced the water and overlooked the pool area and ocean...beautiful. The spa was great, the food was very good - loved the cabana bar. We had a car and were very comvenient to Naples, Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel Island and Captiva. We were able to visit all of these places and not feel rushed during our 3 night stay. Airport is close. This hotel is truly a resort and has a casual elegance that my friend and I loved. We will be bringing our families here next. One tip. Bring your laptop if you have any work to do. Business Center staff is not equipped to fix simple problems. Charges are outrageous for computer and internet useage. I had spent an hour on a project only to find out that the computer wouldn't save it on my memory stick! The manager let me use his office however to redo my document. That was nice.

Sanibel's beaches are nice however we enjoyed the Fort Meyers Beaches more. Visit the Pink Shell Hotel and their beach is best on the island. Also has the best shelling on the island.

Everything. One of the best I have stayed in.

Nice location - easily accessible to islands but Ft. Myer traffic is appalling. Grande Bay suites are nicely renovated older rooms but are a good walk from the hotel and hotel restaurants. Room Service did not respond to request for cork screw though they said they would bring one to the room within an hour. If you stay here, stay in the hotel and definitely partake of the dinner cruise though pricey. Nice, but not 4 star.

We had a great time on Sanibel Island. We walked along the beach and picked up shells. Jerry's grocery store had a great little cafe I highly recommend.

The location and view from the hotel room. Beverage prices were unreasonable ($2.25 for 1/2 pint milk). I really enjoyed the location and view of the Gulf of Mexico; however, everything was overpriced ($2.25 for a small 1/2 pint of milk!). The dinner cruise sounded nice, but again was a bit pricey. If that weren't enough, just as we left the hotel, the generator aboard the ship shut-off rendering the ship without AC and lighting. Needless to say, the Captain returned to port and cut short our trip without reimbursing us. Nevertheless, the meal was quite good.

We stayed in the Grande Bay instead of the main hotel, I would not choose that again. The food in the restaurants was awful, there didn't seem to be any local seafood or fruit. There is nothing anywhere near the hotel so as we only had one car I was left with nothing to do. The tiny picture of the beach is the WHOLE beach. No swimming access (off beach or dock) is available except pools, all of which are small. The bed was great, the room comfortable but old fashioned. Heavy bedspread, chunky furniture but good colors. A real refrigerator rather than icebox usually found. People mostly nice. Service was acceptable, but we had to call to have our room cleaned at 7 at night. The fitness center was small but well equipped, but not elegant. There was a pool in the spa but no notice anywhere so I didn't find it til we were leaving. The spa was rudimentary. The resort store had nothing in it, no clothes, no treats, no books. The spa store had little more to offer. The hunt for a daily paper was often thwarted regardless of what time we went to look for one, and we had to go to the main hotel to even have a chance to find one for sale. One of the concierge was terrible. We asked for a place for vegetarian meal and were sent to a sports bar with NOTHING vegetarian, even the salads all had meat. Another time we were given wrong directions to a golf club. We travel a great deal but this was still disappointing. There was free wifi which we enjoyed but it seemed to be down frequently. Not a resort really, not much of a spa, but passable as a basic hotel.

the hotel service was excellent, however the service at the pelican and tarpon restaurants were terrible.i had to wait for 10-15 minutes before i was approached while others were being taken care right away, when the waitress finally came to the table i was not greeted never any one bother to come back to check and make every thing was okay.at the pelican the waitress took so long to return to my table that i had to find someone to pay the check.same service at the tarpon however not as bad.
