This place is clean and comfortable. Staff is nice and the location is central to the city and airport. I always return there when I go for a visit because it is like home away from home and familiar.

Good location for our short trip, able to easily explore Santa Barbara.

This is a good lodge type accomodation, very clean, bright, spacious and good value. Certainly recommend it.

We found the room very comfortable (and quiet!!!); and the location on State Street perfect for us. The staff was very friendly and efficient. We will stay again when we return to Santa Barbara.

Booked two rooms for different days and cancelled and rebooked, but staff kept on top of everything and confirmed that we wanted what we asked for. Rooms and bedding were clean; staff was friendly. Near showgrounds which worked great for us going back and forth daily. Would stay again. Complimentary coffee, juice, cereal and danish in morning. Our compliments to the desk staff who worked with us on changing rooms.

Nice, safe hotel stay just a few minutes drive from downtown and the ocean pier. We went for forth of July weekend and did not stay in the hotel very much but enjoyed the safe environment and friendly staff.

Price seemed great for the Santa Barbara area. Hotel room itself was clean. The only drawbacks were: 1) wireless network signal was extremely weak, almost unusable inside the room; 2) it was difficult to get warm water. Overall, it was a nice place to stay -- I would definitely come back.

The bed in the first room had bugs. Switched to new room and it was OK. Room cleanliness has a lot to be desired, but in Santa Barbara, I guess for the price you get what you pay for.

Hotel staff was friendly and helpful at checkin, but the room was awful. Very old hotel. Our "family suite" was two rooms connected by a door. Only one bathroom. NO A/C IN THE 2nd ROOM! Dont misunderstand, it wasn't malfunctioning - there was no A/C unit in that room. It was a very warm, uncomfortable night.

Very nice motel, a little older, but very well maintained. Very convenient location, close to restaurants, shopping, etc. Quality continental breakfast.

Overall good value. Needs a little improvement aesthetically but staff was nice and location is good.

The room was everything that we expected and the price was right. A little noisy from a lot of kids in the early morn., but expected because of the cost (families can afford this place). We found a little mold staining on the ceiling in the shower but it had been cleaned. The beds and pillows were very comfy/firm. We would stay again.

Be sure to have reasonable expectations when you stay at the Sandpiper. The rooms are clean, the staff is mostly friendly and the price and location are good. I have stayed there many times for business and pleasure. However, it can be a little loud sometimes and some of the rooms are run down. This is a consistently good quality value hotel in otherwise pricey, and very beautiful, Santa Barbara.

Good hotel at reasonable price. Staff was very kind in helping us out when we left something in the room. Mailed it to us at no cost.

The location of this hotel is State Street but be advised that it's on the opposite end from downtown, where most attractions are. Our room had ants and the property was nowhere near as nice as the photo and description led us to believe. Very disappointing!

I arrived in the evening and left in the morning. The room was clean and comfortable. Lots of dining options in walking distance.

I took my girlfriend to state st for Valentines Day, and wanted a room close to downtown to do some shopping and bar hopping, the listing made it sound like we would be walking distance away but it was a short drive made long with all the traffic lights. The room was your basic motel 6ish room, old room, old smell, old mattress and old deco. I felt it was over priced but since it had availability I was stuck with it. I probably wouldnt stay there again if I had a choice. The continental breakfast was nice.

"Santa Barbara is usually very expensive, this motel was a good deal and I may stay there again. It was conveniently located on State St, away from dowtown though, but close. There is a wonderful restaurant nearby (Chuck's of Hawaii). The staff was very nice and the rooms were roomy with iron, TV and fridge. Cleanliness was average for a motel: I did not like the few ants I saw on the bathroom counter, just wondering where they came from... Since I noticed them on my last day, I did not complain. The place was very noisy in the weekend. The outside pool and lobby were nice. "

"Santa Barbara is a beautiful place, and so the Sandpiper has a lot of competition in this resort town. It looks like it's been recently updated, and the rooms are clean and the grounds well-kept. But the service is only average, and the front desk is understaffed."
