There must be some where better to stay than thisSad to say, this tired family run hotel was over priced and well below standard

We stayed as a family group for one night - it was a friendly, clean and pleasant B and B with a good breakfast.

Short Break, last minute decision.Upon arrival we were greeted by Carol, I believe the owner, a very polite, friendly and well mannered person. We did arrive a little early ( about an hour earlier than estimated). This was not a problem. The room was ready and clean, but a little on the smal side for a couple. No space for a dressing table, and only enough room for one chair, which had to be constantly moved to gain access to the wardrobe. We placed our suitcase on top of the wardrobe for storage and when we took it down it was covered in dust / fluff from the top surface of the wardrobe. The bed was very creaky and noisy but was comfortable. We stayed on a bed & breakfast arrangement. I believe evening meals are available if booked with Carol. We did not take this option simply because we prefer the freedom gained by not being tied to returning at a given time. The breakfast was very good. Not greasy and well cooked. The drinking glasses were ( dish washer ? ) scratched / water stained and the cutlery water stained, but clean. Some of the drinking cups were stained on the inside ( tea stains ), again dish washer cleaned and left to air dry ? This is no worse than we would normally expect, but if these points were addressed it would make the difference between average and very good and would make the extra effort well worh while and noticeable.Overall a very good value late booking. We feel the full price would be difficult to justify in this small room. Car parking space was plentiful but you needed to ensure you didn't get blocked in if you planned to use your car for / during the day. We do not usually return to the same accommodation again as we like to try different places.

Short breakNice friendly hotel. The room was very clean and comfy. Breakfast was very good. The location is only a short walk to the seafront and town. Torquay is a great place to stay for a few days and I would highly recommend this guest house.

Enjoyable stayMy wife and I needed accommodation while at a conference and Sandpiper was excellent. The room had all we needed and was clean and the hospitality tray was replenished more effectively than in most other places we've stayed. It is within easy walking distance of the beach and has its own parking. The food was excellent!!!! The owner was extremely pleasant, relaxed and cheerful - very welcoming.

The service we received from the owner was friendly the hotel room was very clean the food that we had was excellent and service good, the only thing we weren't happy with was that the room was very small and claustrophobic and the bed was far too small for two people as it was only a small double

Easter Bank Holiday 2009After a warm welcome from the landlady we were shown to a pair of bright and airy joining rooms, a double for ourselves and a twin for the children. Breakfast was a choice of continental or cooked and a perfect way to set yourself up for the day. The site is just a 5 minute walk to the park (with crazy golf) and beach then just 5 more minutes into the town centre. A mosy enjoyable stay that I would recommend to friends and family.

A comfortable and friendly hotel. The room was a bit small, and we had some trouble with the sliding door to the bathroom, but it was fixed without our having to ask. Located in a quiet cul-de-sac, within 10 minutes' walk of the sea front and the edge of the shopping area. Plenty of parking in the forecourt and in the street. Breakfast was good, and served quickly. We were the only people staying, but it might be noisy with more people there.

Nice basic accommodationThe room at the Sandpiper was basic but very clean with an ensuite bathroom. The room was a little small but fine for one night. The hotel was about 10 mins walk into the town centre. The female host was lovely - very friendly & chatty - & the breakfast was great.

Nicely run friendly hotel!Stayed for just one night, but what a lovely experience! The hotelier Carol greeted my son and I as soon as we were arrived, she then showed us to our room and explained how everything worked. This was a nice touch, and one that I've only experienced when staying in larger more expensive hotels. Our room was nice for the price we paid, we were impressed by the touch sensitive lamps! My son and I had fun playing with those! In the morning, we had the full English breakfast, which in my opinion was cooked to perfection. Couldn't fault it!Carol was very friendly and helpful for the duration of our stay. Really made our experience of Devon memorable. Keep up the good work!

Great Guest HouseWarm and friendly welcome on arrival. Rooms are clean and well equiped including wall mounted LCD TV with Free-view. Breakfast was excellent, prompt and food cooked to order. No burnt or dry bacon and eggs here. Room cleaned and sorted every day with replenished coffee / tea. Shower /ensuite room a little dated but very clean and functional. We would recommend Carol's Guest house to all who fancy staying in Torquay or Paignton area its a really nice place and good value for money.

The owners of this Hotel were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The Hotel and our room was very clean and comfortable. And although we booked the smaller room it was quite adequate with value for money. We never had Breakfast as we were not up very early each morning, but we never heard of any complaints from the other guests. We would definately stay there again.
