We upgraded to a "city view" room which cost us extra $ and our aspect was out towards Denman Street and Stanley Park (we couldn't see the park at all). We were told that anything above the 9th floor was considered a "city view" room, even if you weren't facing the city. What a rip off !!!! We had a one bedroom suite that was apparently for 4 people, however it only had towels for 2 people. We asked for some more towels and normal, non-decafinated coffee and decafinated coffee was bought to us; when we had stressed this point. There was absolutely no room to open the chest of draws. There was 20cm between the end of the bed and the chest of draws and I have a nice bruise on my hip from constantly hitting it. This hotel was so bad and we have travelled extensively .... absolutely the worst in Vancouver for us and we have probably stayed at 10 different places across the city.

They overcharged me & didn't give back the rewards card.

Great location! I got my room upgraded and price is not too bad. Definitely return.

We stayed in the penthouse jacuzzi suite and had mixed feelings about it. To begin, it was very small with a disproportionate amount of space given to the jacuzzi. Consequently no couch or soft chairs. The suite was a bit shop worn but clean. Unlike other standard suites there was no washer or drier. Ask for ocean view if possible. The location was excellent with approximately 25 restaurants in a 3 block stretch on Davie St. Stephos (Greek) and Bin 941 (tapas) were outstanding. Kam's Singapore restaurant was also an incredible value. The hotel staff was very accommodating and helpful. Couldn't have been better. We would stay here again but in a cheaper standard suite.

I was very impressed w/Sandman staff and the large, clean & comfortable suite. The neighborhood is vibrant & very diverse, this hotel's security is seamless. The 18.75/day parking charge is the only downside to this Sandman.

The location is excellent. It's right in the middle of a hip, alternative, charming neighborhood with lots of cool, little shops and places to eat. There are also nightlife spots (and parents should be advised there are some adult entertainment places right nearby, but they aren't particulary obtrusive--my kids never noticed them, especially since they aren't visible if you enter/exit the hotel through the parking garage). The staff at the hotel were all very friendly. The elevators were a little slow (one was out of order), but that is hardly a complaint. Overall, this place really rocked! It's a fun place at a great price. We stayed on the sea-view side of the hotel, and the view was amazing! Just looking out the balcony was a highlight of the trip. The hotel is just a few blocks from the beautiful English Bay and splendors of Stanley Park.

Great location. Very shabby, low quality room. Better suited for extended stay guests, the suite (but all together just the size of a large hotel room) has a full kitchen and the perk of a full washer/dryer, however the other furnishings were drab and unexciting. The ridiculously small bathroom was clean but cramped, and the bedroom was lit with cheap blue fluorescent bulbs that gave everything a sickly, zombie-like cast.

Other than the below average cleaneliness sides housekeeping (some days no vacuuming, other days no toiletpaper, other days bathroom obviously not cleaned except for change of towels, reported the mildewed blindes in the bedroom, it was said:we take care of it immediately. Empty promise until our departure) the hotel is good.Well equipped fitness center (unfortunately not too well kept).Suites also equiped w/everything needed for a long stay.

The hotel staff is very friendly and were interested in the activities we had planned for our stay. They were very knowledgeable and helpful in offering suggestions. The centerpiece of our penthouse suite was a jaccuzi tub which at first seemed odd being in the center of the room but was much appreciated after hours spent walking. The jaccuzi suite did not have a small sofa which would've been nice but we made do with the sitting chairs. I would reccommend this hotel for its great service and location.

The couch was backbreaking. However, everything else was great: housekeeping, front desk staff, view, kitchenette, free Internet, very clean and modern, in-suite washer/dryer. Book online (Travelocity had the best advertised rate). Or, if phoning, mention online rates, because initial quote was exorbitantly more expensive. They were helpful with room assignment requests over the phone. This is my new go-to place to stay in Vancouver.

Great value for the location. Near the bay, shopping and restaurants. If you like a convenient location then the Sandman is your choice. Staff was very thorough and highly professional.

The location. The hotel staff was not very friendly. The hotel staff was not very friendly. The bed was terrible. They gave us a double bed and kept insisting that it was a queen and that they did not have a double bed. The whole experience was terrible. did not like that fact that they didn't even offer to change rooms and kept telling me that they are sold out.

*Warning! Bed bugs at the Sandman on Davie.* In Vancouver on business I stayed at the Sandman on Davie in September 2008 and I ended up with over 50 bed bug bites on my face, neck, arms & legs. The Sandman staff requested I see a doctor at the nearby walk-in clinic, and the doctor there confrimed to me that bed bugs are 'Vancouver's dirty secret', and that I take benadryl & apply creams to soothe the itchiness. The Sandman staff gave me a change of room and assured me they would properly clean my clothes and provide me with a report of the bed bugs issue in the previous room. The next day the Sandman staff returned to me my clothes in a bag. The clothes were not cleaned. I was not provided with a report. I got out as quickly as possible (only after having to justify to one of the managers my break in the committed stay at the Sandman!!??)! Try to imagine how embarrassing it is to have business conferences with red swollen bites all over your body! Final words: don't stay at the Sandman on Davie!

The suites are compact, but they are still suites so better than your average hotel room. Mine had a washer/dryer, which was surprising and would obviously be great for long stays. I had an issue with the phone in the room not working and it wasn't repaired after my initial request. It would have been goo dto have more business friendly phone (such as with speakerphone). Overall, probably the best value in Vancouver I have found.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The location of the hotel is perfect to take advantage of the west end. The view was great overlooking English Bay. The kitchen was well equipped. I was very comfortable cooking.

The lobby, attached restaurant, parking area, and elevators were all top notch. The hallways and rooms were not as clean as I would like; the door to the deck was very hard to open. Upon arriving at the Sandman on Davie, we were pleased with the ease of parking, the beautiful entry way, and the quick service at the front desk. The Moxie, which is attached to the hotel, was perfect for a group of younger people, couples, or those who want a little adult time. It was also very reasonably priced. This hotel's location is superb; we were right in the middle of Vancouver, as demonstrated, with an easy access to the downtown area as well as the fantastic view. The halls and rooms were, sadly, not a three star material. From the stained carpets to the broken sliding glass door, I was not impressed. The adorable kitchenette almost made up for it, but not quite enough. This hotel was nearly all we had hoped for, but it fell short in a few very important ways.

The location is great, it is right along a busy street with a small market next to it. Really busy at night, so it is fairly safe. The view is amazing. I was staying with my family so the suite made our stay seem more like home. They have a nice outdoor pool, but I never used it. If you want to do a "Big Bus" tour, one of their stops is right down the street.

Truly enjoyed this property. Was actually supposed to stay at another Sandman property closer to the client office, but this worked out great. There are plenty of great little eateries and shops in this section of town. Everything was within walking distance or a short cab ride. Having arrived early after they had been full the evening before, the front desk staff worked diligently to get me into a room after an already long day.

We stayed three nights at the hotel. If you don't mind walking, you can walk all over the city from China town, old town and Stanley Park all about one mile away. We stayed in the Penthouse on the top floor because we wanted the jacuzzi which was nice after walking around town, just remember that the penthouse is a studio room and doesn't have a seperate bedroom. Plenty of food choices and many great bakeries on the same block. A good hotel for the price and location. I would stay there again.

Closer to downtown and US consulate. Exorbitant Parking Rate. The rooms were small but were good. Parking came as surprise and the rates were exorbitant. 15 Can. $ per day was very high.
