Everytime we stayed at The Sandman we have had nothing but good service....The front desk was nice and greeted us with smiles....i would go back there to stay if i had to....

Small, old elevators and terrible beds. The parking garage was being resurfaced, but no warnings about what was being done to the garage - another guest ended up with tar all over her shoes because she could not get to her car without walking through the fresh surfacing and had no choice because she had to be somewhere and the hotel did not inform the guests. Not a happy experience with this hotel.

The main restaurant was not open for guests. The choices for downtown restaurants was overpriced with poor service. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful when asked questions that they could answer or they would direct you to someone who could answer your question. The rooms are efficient, clean and comfortable, quiet and we received a good nights rest. They have a separate desk for excursions and rental vehicles that was manned by very helpful people. If we return to Vancouver we will request rooms at this hotel again.

Askeda king room. The hotel they said that room was not available. Hey had no queen rooms left so we got a room with two double beds. The heater was not working in the room and there was not enough hot water.

Good price, good location and good service. A decent hotel and would stay here again. Nothing special really - but that's not a bad thing!

I was initially worried about staying at the Sandman Hotel Downtown Vancouver, because of prior, generally negative reviews. But I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel. The decor is appropriate for the hotel style, the room we stayed in is very clean and all appliances are new and they work! The room is really small, though, i.e., you had to turn sideways to go from the bedroom area to the hallway leading to the bathroom, because the desk table was partly blocking that space. My husband had to muffle the air conditioner because it was making loud vibration noises. Hotel staff are wonderful, nice people and always accommodating. The Big Bus, which is one of the tour buses, stops at the Sandman, and the hotel location is the best! For the amount of money you pay, staying at the Sandman is one of the best values in town! Just make sure you don't spend most of your time in the hotel room. Oh - and the elevators! I also read somewhere that the elevators were slow - like a 20 minute wait. Not during our stay! In fact, the elevators worked quickly -as long as you got the handle on using your room key to operate those elevators. I thought the restaurant - Moxie's Grill - is good, but it's over rated. The food is "just ok." Others like it, but with what my husband and I ordered, it wasn't as good as we hoped it would be. My husband and I think we'd stay at the Sandman again, since Vancouver is just one of the best places to vacation anyway!

Spent two days here instead of the over-priced conference hotel. This was a bargain and very neat, clean and good restaurants

Extremely well situated for everything there is to do in the city and immediate surrounds. Breakfast voucher system is terrific. Room was a good size although the bathroom was compact. Lifts very slow and key access system works poorly. Overall well priced for what you get. Would stay again.

i never been to Vancouver until early Dec this year. I heavily rely on the review to select the hotel so I also wanna offer some opinion to those who are planning to visit Vancouver. Sandman is a bit far from the downtown area. I didn't want to go out at night becuz it takes a long walk to nearby shops. There is no free internet and no fridge in hotel room. The hotel room is tiny and dark.

This is a great place if you just need a place to sleep. The room is small, but has free wireless internet access which made traveling a little easier. The service was above average and parking was easy (small fee). Lots to see and is close to the cruise terminals. Would definitely stay here again.

The location to GM Place was perfect, Lobby was inviting, parking was excellent, room was clean, staff was friendly. The ice machine did not work. We enjoyed our brief stay and will stay there again. Our room was smoke free and appreciated, however I did smell smoke on another floor. We ate in the pub and enjoyed the experience, except it was difficult to get service after the game.

Nice, clean hotel, in a safe, central location. Very pleasant, helpful staff.

Excellent location. Easy to walk to chinatown, gastown, and the aquabus to granville Island. The rooms are a little too small.

The Sandman Inn was a comfortable place to stay. The car parking was terrible with no instructions how to enter into the parking lot from the front desk receptionist. The elevator and the garage always needed the key to enter into. They don't tell you to insert the key and how you should insert it. It took us 45 minutes to find the garage, park and take our luggage to the lobby. They ought to have some help in the front lobby to take off your luggage and take it to the room. At least 3 other people came to the front desk to ask how they could enter the garage. The queen size bed they refered is a regular bed. If you really have to be to close to the BC Place, this may be convenient.

That nothing worked! Well I was really pleased that it was so close to everything that I needed to do in my trip but I was unsatisfied with the fact that the TV wouldn't turn on without the remote and that also wasn't working as well as my bathroom light was burnt out. So it was a good place to stay but I just wouldn't take my family there.

Overall a nice hotel in a fairly good location. Easy walk to the waterfront and downtown shops. Close to the Stadium skytrain station. Rooms were large and clean with good facilities. I was in the corner room on the top level and it had huge glass windows surrounding the room offering great views. Will consider again next time in YVR.

Good location, especially for sporting events. Walkable to most of downtown. Friendly staff. SLOW elevators!

Located in a safe neighborhood, close to shops, walking distance to where commercial ships dock. Felt secure in this hotel, as we were two foreign female travelers. Did not use any of the amenities/restaurants, but staff was very friendly and anxious to offer assistance in any way needed. The room had been updated to a more modern feel and included a flat screen TV. Our remote did not work, but courteous staff attended to the issue until it was solved. Overall, it was nicer than expected-the name's a little corny & connotated a cheap hotel in my mind, but we were very pleased. I'd stay there again.

Great location, comfy bed, quiet fridge, moisturizing lotion, good space around handbasin for sponge bags, nice clean room. Pillows were too fat! No movies on the free TV channels. Easy-to-find location was great for walking to downtown shops, Gaston and recommended ethnic restaurants. Car parking convenient under hotel. Our room was quiet, clean and well serviced daily.
