HORRIBLE!!! To say the least! This hotel by far was the worse stay I ever had in my life!!!! I have stayed at a few 2 star hotels and this one here does not even deserve the 2 stars it is rated!!! We requested a ocean view room months prior and was denied! we asked for a second patio chair so my husband and I both could enjoy the patio at the same time and was told to "drag" one of the kitchen chairs to the outside patio!!! when we requested clean towels we were issued stained face towels and was given a hard time on a replacement!!!! The hotel ask for a cash deposit for the remote and the remote NEVER worked from our first night stay!!! I could go on and on with the nightmare stay!! NEVER AGAIN!!

Upon arrival I was given my room, which was completely in the rear of the resort. I needed a shower as I had been sick on the plane. I got to the room and got into the shower which only had cold water, and leaked out onto the floor flooding the entry of the room. The television would not work and there was not phone in the room to report it to the front desk. I had to get out of the shower, get dressed and go back to the front to report the room. I was however given a new room, and it had been upgraded to a suite. It was so pretty and clean and great bathroom with hot water. Then I was happy and satisfied and comfortable.

My experience at this hotel was wonderful. The check in experience was pleasant. The clerk, a courteous young man , after being told of my disability, immediatley honored my request for a change of room. The security staff was very attentive and courteous to my needs. Housekeeping staff behaved in no less a manner. It was refreshing to talk with the bar tender who is a well informed gentleman. He can certainly hold a conversation and has an opinion on multiple topics. The restaurant staff will prepare a delicious Jamaican meal for you. Overall, my experience was good. I am glad that my friend told me about Sandcastle. She stayed here. I will stay here again.

This is a great location for someone or families on a budget. It is the perfect location as you can walk to almost anywhere in the town. This is not the best hotel, but it certainly is not the worst and I would recommend it to others. The rooms are privately own, so some are better than others, but we were lucky to get a good room. The only thing missing was a microwave...The beach is right at the back of the hotel and there is a Park across the street for families with kids. Basically there is something for everyone at any age.

We spent 10 days and I would not stay again, the stove in the room was filthy, the handles on the stove was filled with grease. The faucet in the bathroom sink did not work properly, they promised to have it fixed that never happened. We had a hard time having them replace towels on a daily basis, and the housekeeping staff was not very friendly, they were irritated whe we called for anything. The rooms were not equipped with an ironing board we had to go to the front desk to get one and we could only keep it for 1 hour. Went to the restaurant 40 minutes before breakfast was over and all the breakfast except for eggs was finish. Stay at you own risk, this was an experience I don't care to repeat.

After making the reservation and handing over my credit card number, I felt comfortable that we had found a place to take our out-of town guests on the other side of the island (we live in Kingston). No problem, mon, we've got two rooms for you, your guests, your toddler and your 3 mos old baby, and we can put a crib in the room for you. Then we arrived after the usual 2 hour harrowing ride over the mountains of Jamaica. And, surprise, they did not have our reservation. At first they did not believe me when I said I made the reservation. So I took out my cell phone and showed them the call made to their number on that date. And then it was "So sorry, there's nothing we can do, we're booked up." They sent us to the Village Hotel, a much smaller and lesser-star place, which had friendlier and more helpful staff, but unfortunately could not accomodate the small children. I spoke with the operations manager for sandcastles later and he was not helpful at all. At least when Rooms on the Beach loses your reservation, they make it up to you; the staff at Sandcastles could not care less and make sure you know it! We had to drive all the way back Kingston that night.

from the service desk attendant to the ground keepers every one very friendly and help to answer my questions. the setting very private yet fun. the room was very clean and well kept i had all that i needed. the view was wonderful with its private beach it was walking distance from shops, restaurants, casino. A lively night life i especially was very happy with the security for the hotel they were very observant and never neglect to make sure that we were staying at the hotel therefor no one who did not belong could easily enter unless there was a permission request from the guest. my overal view i loved it and i would return again and would recomend to all first timer's

"The hotel's location to the beach is the best feature. The rooms are individually owned and upkeep and maintenance is minimal. They do come equipped with stoves and fridges, but they might be old. Therefore it is the luck of the draw as to the quality of the particular room for which you are assigned. If you want a hotel where you can prepare your own meals, and simply have a place to lay your head the sandcastle lodging is just fine. But it is by no means a resort. The rooms are inexpensive, so you ultimately, you get what you pay for."

"The rooms are not mainted well. They are individually owned. The best part about the hotel is the proximity to the beach. If you want to just have a place to rest and shower this place is fine. However, it is by no means a resort. This is a perfect spot for students or families with not much money, but desire a less expensive accommodation so that they can spend more money on the activities."

This hotel was very clean and for the most part the staff were friendly. I do wish that the menu had more options (i.e. jerk chicken besides being served at the pool menu). The maid staff kept my room extremely clean and tidy. I do wish that the lighting in the rooms were alot brighter esp during the night time. Plus the rooms could benefit from mircowaves if possible. It is in the perfect location to shops, resturants and the BEACH! All in all it was a good stay.

"This hotel should be on no one's list. Urine pooled at the base of toliet. No hot water for a while. The paint and plaster in the rooms were cracked and peeling--and limited lighting. There was a deafening loud infestation of singing frogs on the property, that rose even above the sound of the band. Mattresses are thin foam. The staff is largely ignorant, even about standard taxi rates or local sites. "

"This was my boyfriend and I first trip together. The hotel was okay. The safe in the hotel did not work so we had to leave our valuables at the front desk safe, which I perfered. The hotel was close to everything. Don't leave without visiting The Ruins restaurant, it is so romantic (at night). The staff was wonderful. The hotel was worth its cost. We basically only used the room as a closet and to sleep to go out again. The beach is wonderful and very close. Don't forget to take a dinner cruise with Cool Runnings Boat "
