The Hotel was beautiful! the front desk people wer very friendly and helpful. the Bartenders were fantastic and freindly. The dining room staff, was slow moving, getting our water glassed filled took forever. Getting our food was slow too. We ate in the buffet rest. most of the time so we wouldn't have to spend 2-3 hours eating every night. I felt there should've been more included with this hotel ie: trip into town, ride to margaritaville, catamaran ride, if you didn't want to go to Dunn's River Falls. etc. Free wi-fi would've been nice too. The food was delicious at every restaurant we went to. Great hotel for younger couples and honeymooners, my husband and I were celebrating our 26th wedding anniv. felt old at the resort. In clonclusion, the resort is beautiful, relaxing and a great value!

Very slow through customs, lines were very long. Luggage porter did was remind us he was taking care of us and we needed to take care of him then the bus ride from airport took 3 hours. We were welcomed at the resort with smiles but then the wait staff seemed very angry and weren't very happy. First resturant did not have menus and the bar selection was poor. When we booked the trip we did not realize the resort was split and we were away from the beach and had to take a shuttle. Maid service was less than adequate, they would take our dirty towels but would not replace them, I had to call for clean towels. We were verry disappointed in the food selections and trying to get into resturants for dinner. The price of pictures was outrageous($16.00) each whether they were on a disc or printed by them. We went on The Dunns River Falls Cruise and it was late coming to pick us up and late leaving the dock and cut our trip short because of darkness. (the falls were a great experience, the crew was very entertaining and alot of fun but we did not get to snorkel very long) and for $80.00 each we felt alittle short changed. After talking to many people they had the same feelings and alot of them were honeymooners. I really do not think I would stay at another Sandals because we weren't really asked how things were until the night before we left.

We arrived at the Airport on time and the waiting area was nice. They had cold red stripes waiting upon arrival, but no snacks. Our bus ride was 1 hr 45 mins. as I expected. Upon arrival, we were greeted and escourted to our roons via golf cart. For almost two days our room was HOT. We tried to give it the benefit of the doubt the first night. We notified them the 2nd day and they finally arrived at 9:30p.m to give us a new air unit. Monday was a good night b/c of the street jamborree. Friday was good b/c of the beach party. Otherwise, it was boring. You MUST walk everywhere. The luxury in this vacation slogan is over rated. The food was not the top of the line. Get your jerk chicken in a local place. The air in Valentinos was broken. I needed a cup of ice to keep cool. The beef was good in there. Market place- breakfast & lunch were good. Orchids was good. Drinks are only the premium drinks in Jamaica, not US. The service was very slow in the restaurants at night. The property is somewhat of a 2 & 1 deal. If you are staying near the manor house , you have to catch the bus across the street to go to the beach. Don't have too many drinks, you'll need your energy to walk.

We were there for our honeymoon and expected the advertised "Luxery Included" vacation. After all, this is Sandals! We were placed in a room filled with mosquitos due to a bathroom window that did not have glass, there was a hole in the wall with exposed cables/wires, the a/c unit was uncovered (missing the cover to it), the toilet handle was broken, the bathtub floor was peeled, there was thick caulking arount the sink and bathroom doorframe and the shower head was full of lime or calcium buildup. It was disgusting. We called the front desk but it took them two days to move us to a different room. Once moved, we became even angrier because the new room was beautiful! No reason for ANYONE to stay in a room like that. A motel would have been better.

This resort was really great ! Food was good,service was good. Location was excellent.The security was also a plus and always visible. Staff was very pleasant and always helpful. I would definitely stay again. One thing........all resorts need to work on a shuttle service from airport and back. We got picked up by the wrong carrier and were taken all the way back to the resort. The cost needs to be addressed. To many different prices given. On the phone I was quoted one price but when I arrived at the airport it was more. They have you because you need to be transported to the resort. Since there is such a distant to the resorts in Negril they all should provide shuttle service for their guests even at a low cost.

Never traveled out of country prior-so we were a bit nervous. Thought it was too hyped up--but when we arrived...it was amazing! Staff was very courteous-atmosphere was laid-back. A truly relaxing vacation. We were NEVER bored, and were busy all day if we chose to be...but relaxed when we wanted as well. Stayed in one of the villas with pool--highly recommend spending a few extra bucks-well worth it! Great privacy, excellent food, fun entertainment-this is a place you will definetly want to stay at least 7 nights in so you can experience all the different entertainment. Definitely go on the Bob Marley booze cruze-Katamaran to the Falls...worth it if you love boats and snorkling. We did the canopy tour-it was fun too. Worth every penny!

Hotel is in need of major renovation. Stayed in best room, was old,decor is "dog-eared,"bathroom was circa 1950's. Food was of poor quality. Resturants advertised as"World Class" is in name only. Most entree's alway's lacked one of it's ingredients because the were "out of it"(i.e. Shrimp etc) every day it was something different. There is virtualy no beach to speak of. If you don't like going up and downs stairs this is not the place, you have to use stairs every where. Liquor is a "well drink" liquor(cheap label) unless you ask for premium. However, all bottles are measured pours and you have to request a double pour to get a decent drink. If you ordered a Gin/Vodka and Tonic you got the local variety unless you requested premium and there is not a fresh lime to be found.There is a saying that " you never get some thing for nothing" Sandles has this operation down to a science and what yo get is not worth what you paid for it. This was my first time atSandals Resort and I would not take a chance on another one do to this experience.

the staff couldnt have been friendlier!!! i have never had so many people trying cater to my husbands & my every need...not by us asking either!!! the staff here just babies you. the grounds were beautiful & clean!!! i am super picky & cleanliness comes first wherever i stay...@ sandals, i felt like our room was so clean you could eat off the floor...honestly!!! the only bad thing was the bus ride from the airport to the resort...oh my goodness...it was horrible!!! other than that the trip was perfect. i would recommend this place to anyone :)

My wife and I stayed here for what was supposed to be 6 nights for our honeymoon. Sandals Ochos was a major disappointment unless you like noise and walking up and down steps. Every morning we were woken up by loud banging dishes and people slamming their doors at 6am. The resort was very big separated by a road running through the property. Restaraunts and other activities were on both sides so you had to take a shuttle (ran every 10-15 minutes) to get from one side to another. Overall, the food was pretty good but was lacking seafood. Don't expect quick service. A typical dinner takes about 2 hours but this is wherever you go in Jamaica. Drinks were good too. I lived off of their Appleton rum and jerk ckicken. Beach was tiny. Kept up well but very small and isolated to the inside of a dock. Pool was good. Manorside pool better. There are so many levels to the property that you had to walk up a flight of steps to go from one place to another (even from the pool to the almost attached whirlpool). I don't mind walking up steps, but it got annoying very quick. I felt very tired after the first couple of days. If you want to relax forget it. Were able to transfer at front desk after 3 nights to Sandals Dunn's for an additional cost. Much better there. Reminds me of Italian village. Great restaraunts, less steps and a better beach. Still loud there too. We stayed at The Royal Decameron Club in Runaway Bay for 6 nights too. I'd pick there over Sandals anytime and it was only $*/night. Got to stay in our own bungalow and the beach was much better. Stay away from Sandals.

DO go to Jamaica, DO stay at a Sandals, DO NO GO TO OCHO RIOS. Transportation issues ruined our vacation. By now you have heard it is a 2 hour bus ride to the resort. Doesn't sound so bad? It took us 5 HOURS to get to our room. 20 mins to clear customs and get bags, 40 minutes standing at the Sandals counter, 1 hour sitting on the bus in the parking lot, 2 hour bus ride, 45 minutes for "group check in/sales pitch" and 15 minutes to get to the room. Arrived Jamaica 1:30 arrived room 6:40. Then the key did not fit the door, On return trip flight left at 1:45 they made us leave the room at 7am, on the bus at 8 am, got to airport 10:15, sat around for 3 and half hours. Could have spent that time in the sun. The hotel is lovely, the staff is incredible, the food is the best I have ever had anywhere, so we would stay at any other Sandals again, Private cab to/from airport is 120 each way for 2 people. Would have been better than bus, but very expensive. PS the golf course is and hour away from the resort so don't choose it for "free golf" which costs 65 if you rent a cart and clubs. This is why I picked Ocho Rios over Negril or Montego Bay, huge huge mistake on my part, Should have read Fodors guide which says don't pick Ocho Rios. The "beach" is non-existent at this resort, barely a tiny little strip of beach.

Wonderful room in the Manor House cabanas. They were quiet, surrounded by lush vegetation and a lovely little pool. We tried one night in the Riviera building with a view of the beach and were kept up for most of the night by loud drinking parties. We were able to transfer to the the cabana for the rest of our stay. Loved the gardens, choice of restaurants and the fabulous service. Staff were great

My husband and I have been visiting this same resort since 1994. We have been there on 9 different occasions over the years and were even married there in 1999. We feel like it is our 'home away from home'. Although the resort has gone though several owners and changes since we first started going, we still enjoy it all the same. We are avid divers and love the diving crew there. They cater to our every need. It's the staff that makes the trip for us. We have become good friends with several and keep in touch over the years. The grounds are lush and beautiful. There is always something going on and I feel very same laying on the beach by myself while my husband goes into town with one of his Jamaican Brothers.

Not a single complaint. We had read many bad reviews about the food and after dining at each of the restaurants at the resort, we've concluded that anyone that complains about the food must be used to spreading caviar on their toast every morning because the food was amazing. The best part was the unbelievable first-class service. Virtually every resort employee including the groundskeepers go out of their way to greet you with a smile and many will randomly walk up simply to ask how you're doing and if you're having fun or where you're from, etc. If you want to relax, you have many beach and pool locations from which to choose (even on our 6th day at the resort we found a pool we hadn't previously seen. . . if you want to be active you have many activities from which to choose (sailing, snorkeling, dolphin swimming, booze cruise, volleyball, basketball, group trivia games, etc etc etc). The resort is split into two main parts and a shuttle ride is required to get from one side to the other. . . we had concerns about this but it's no problem at all, mon. the shuttles run every 10 minutes to that's the longest you'll ever wait for one and they have multiple running at all times. and the shuttle ride itself is 3 to 5 minutes and makes 3 different stops. shuttle not a nuisance at all. if you like to have fun, there is absolutely no way you'll leave this resort unsatisfied. Yes, the beach is kind of small, but there are 3 or 4 separate small beach areas from which to choose and honestly they're all big enough.

"This resort is beautiful, so big you can alone on the resort any given time. Tons of pools empty beach chairs and hammocks everywhere! Food was awesome .... MEN NEED DRESS CLOTHES! Service, hit and miss. Room was ok, did expect more, bathrooms were disgusting. This resort is split in two, half on the beach the other half across the road. It is only a little more to upgrade, plus you get 250 credit at the resort so you end up with a better room for less money. This place was beautiful just had a few downfalls, but nothing major, we had a wonderful honeymoon!"

"My husband and I went to Sandals Ocho Rios on our honeymoon and it was definitely not what we expected. It's NOT a high-end hotel (even though we got the Romeo & Juliet Villa). The butlers were nice and helpful when we could get in touch with ours. The resort is nice but we expected a little better quality and service. Rooms are hot, have tacky beach decor and we had to switch rooms in the middle of our stay because we had a leak in the roof! Would definitely not return"

"If you are going for the beach-forget it. It is only 6' wide and on one side of the resort. You must take a bus to the other side. They claim ""Hastle free"" weddings-NOT! My newphew was married there. The brides dress needed steamed and they wanted to do it the day before. They could not find the dress. The dress was finally delivered at 8:20 with a 9:00 wedding. The ""no worries, mon, was not so comforting. The bus ride was 3.5 hours so basically you loose 2 days of your vacation. I would recommend RIU's in Negril."
