The pictures on the website do not do this resort justice...it was so breathtaking and beautiful. The staff was very nice and helpful. There was so much to do that we really wished we had another week to stay.. I HIGHLY recommend this resort.. you will NOT be disappointed!!!

My husband and I chose Sandals Antigua to celebrate our first year wedding anniversary with out doing a lot of research other than reading the reviews online. This is why I felt the need to write this. I am very happy we ignored the many negative responses. Sandals Antigua was the best vacation my husband and I have ever been on. Let me be more specific. Upon arrival we were given a cold face cloth to freshen up and a glass of champagne to sip on while we checked in. We, like many other couples we spoke with, were upgrade to a beachfront room on the Caribbean side. We heard in other reviews that some of the rooms on the Caribbean side were out dated. This is somewhat true, but they were very clean and we could see the ocean from our bed. What more could you ask for? The majority of our days we spent poolside or at the beach. The pool was a great spot to lounge quietly, or mingle with the many friendly people around the huge pool bar. Although the pool was a bit chilly, it was very refreshing after sitting in the hot sun. We also read in some of the reviews that the locals on the beach were pushy and aggressive in trying to hawk their goods. This couldn?t be more false! For all the times we were at the beach my husband and I were approached a handful of times. Each time a simple ?no thank you? was returned with ?have a nice day?. The weather was in the mid 80s everyday and didn?t see a drop of rain. The food and the nightlife were very satisfying as well. Our favorite restaurant was Kimono?s. This is now the only restaurant you need reservations for now. We also enjoyed our lunch and dinners at Mario?s, Cricketer?s, and Barefoot by the Sea. The most romantic dinner we found to be Barefoot by the Sea with the white linen table cloths and candles flickering in the breeze while kicking your shoes off under the table and burying your feet in the sand while eating. It was great! Kimono?s was also great fun while eating in a group around a hibachi grill. The cooks were ver

Just returned from our honeymoon to stay at one of the best reviewed and ranked hotels in antigua.....and we will not go back to a sandals again. Service was poor, at best. Staff seemed to have little to no clue about the menus. Food was poor to ok (ok corral was best finished with rolaids, portions were small, and food was cold to wet).Breakfast and lunches never changed! The same things were served each day, though the stew changed from chicken to fish every other day. Only 4 fruits (bananas, melon, pineapple, oranges) were served, though peaches and pears were served in the syrup juice (from a can for sure).Sushi (Kimonos) was in small portions (3 pieces versus usual 6-8) and staff was very slow to help and we had to get our own drinks. The beach and water were breath taking every morning, the pools were clean and towels were always on the chairs.Overall we were very dissappointed in the staffs knowledge and many didn't seem to care at all.

The weather was in the mid 80s everyday and didn’t see a drop of rain. The food and the nightlife were very satisfying as well. Our favorite restaurant was Kimono’s. This is now the only restaurant you need reservations for now. We also enjoyed our lunch and dinners at Mario’s, Cricketer’s, and Barefoot by the Sea. The most romantic dinner we found to be Barefoot by the Sea with the white linen table cloths and candles flickering in the breeze while kicking your shoes off under the table and burying your feet in the sand while eating. It was great! Kimono’s was also great fun while eating in a group around a hibachi grill. The cooks were very entertaining. The two restaurants that offered breakfast were buffet style. They were also very good. In closing, our overall experience was great. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the food was great, and the beer and liquor were plentiful and of good quality. There were many excursion choices if you wanted to leave the resort. We found the resort to be very relaxing but also had plenty of activities to do also if we wished. The worst part of our trip, like any good vacation, was having to go home. No worries though we booked for next year before we left!

The best beach we've seen in the entire region. A fantastic staff who are happy to help with special requests.

We went for our honeymoon and were told NO so many times we couldn't even count. The ocean was gorgeous...but going out into it, it smelled like raw sewage. I ended up VERY sick, and I believe it was the water...the tap smelled the same, although we did everything possible not to drink it. It was not a place I would recommend...as we had stayed at a Sandals in Ocho Rios Jamaica, and the staff was the friendliest, most helpful. Another downfuall of beautiful Antigua's beach, was that it was not regulated...it was a public beach, so the adults only resort had little kids running around on the beach and SEVERal natives hitting you up while you were trying to catch rays, to buy their wares. It was very disappointing. Their watersports were down all week, which they claimed was due to too much wind...many of those days it was not very windy...just enough that weather for sailboating would have been ideal. They put up their red flag and sat back in their huts. Too many negatives far outweighed the positives unfortunately, and we are very very laid back folks. It was very disappointing. Don;t hit up this SAndals I would say.

not quite done yet, scaffolding covering the entire front of the building. No grass or flowers. Pool just opened. Most of the staff was clueless as to what was going on. Found Shards of Glass left in my room by a clumsy employee. Offered a replacement vacation, We are seeking a refund instead. Replacing a honeymoon is easier said than done.

We were on our honeymoon. When our luggage was lost by the airline, the hotel reassured us all week that they would help to recover it. However, every time we asked about the status, we got a different answer, and our luggage never arrived. We were extremly dissappointed with the food quality and selection. We felt our food choices were limited and the quality was poor every time we ate. Had we not been on our honeymoon, this trip would have been miserable. We had no luggage, no camera, and no books. The poor quality of the food made us never want to return to another Sandals resort again.

We had a butler service room and from now on, I won't have it any other way. Our butler took care of everything we needed the entire time we were there. We did not have to lift a finger. The room was gorgeous with it's own private pool and I was very happy with the food (so many choices). This was a very romantic/relaxing/great value vacation. I will definitely go back.

Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa was amazing. Everything from the food to the pool and the beach. Top notch and anyone having a negative experience at this amazing place would purely have it due to something they have done and not because of the quality of this hotel. Both my husband and I loved the food, the daily and nightly activities, the asthetic beauty of the island and particularly Sandals. We would love to come back here and will be telling all of our friends about our great experience for years to come.

Book it and ENJOY!!!!! My wife and I were there Jan 17-26 and we had a FANTASTIC time!! We went for our 30th anniversary and the whole trip could not have been any better. The entire staff was fantastic, never met a single employee that did not say hi and smile. Donovan Dobson the Director of Guest Services is an outstanding host and really takes pleasure in making sure his guests have the perfect experience. The grounds are beautiful and the food was very good. We stayed in the Med Village section but we had the opportunity to see several rooms on the CV side and they looked very nice too, very romantic on the CV side and lots of secluded spots and pools to enjoy. The MV side is also very nice but is bigger and not quite as lush as the CV side. The entire resort was 100% booked for 4 of the nights we were there but did not feel crowded, we were able to get reservations to all the different restaurants as long as you were flexible with when you wanted to eat. Like they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here is a link to a Slide Show Video I created to give you a real look at this resort from a guests perspective, this is not a professional marketing video, just my attempt to capture the real flavor of this resort and the great staff. This facility needs a major overhaul. For the price we paid, we expected better dining facilities and not to be joined by CATS at every meal. The grounds are in pretty good shape, but noise from the adjacent construction had many couples upset and awake at 6:30 am. Food was just OK - nothing fantastic. I had hoped to be overwhelmed by everything with the we paid, but came back telling everyone that it was OK and not grand. We left very disappointed and will not return and will give a long hard thought to any other Sandals Resorts.

This was a very nice hotel. Great pools and amenities. However, making reservations was pain staking. We only got to eat at one of the reservation oriented resaraunts because they were booked up every night. Other than that the food was good. Service was average but not great like I had been told and expected. With all being said I would go back again but, reservation methods need to change.

"We stayed there for a week and had a great time. The room was perfect. We never saw dirt or roaches. The restaurants were pretty good. It was the most relaxing vacation I have ever been on. The resort maybe showing some signs of age, but how can you complain when the caribbean sea is at your front door?"
