Attendants spoke good enough English to get somewhere. Main door was chained at night - gave me rather a sense of danger.

The hotel is basically run down. The rooms are without AC, the bathrooms are old and awkward, the parking is very uncomfortable; BUT, it's location is SO fantastic that it makes everything else liveable! If this hotel were anywhere else in Mexico City i would probably not recommend it but its half a block away from Alameda park, two blocks from Palacio de Bellas Artes and about 6 or so blocks form the Zocalo! What else can one want on a trip to Mexico City? This Hotel is smack in the middle of the Historic Center and that's the best part of it. The price is also great but like I said before be aware that its not the most pleasant place on earth. If you are the type of person like me that prefers convenience over luxury then stay in this hotel. If you want luxury and more amenities then don't stay here.

The hotel was smelly all the time, they didnt give towels except if requested (hand and rug), the room was dark and ugly we had to request change, it doesnt have heating and they dont put extra covers, we had to request them, we needed to pay a deposit for the TV remote, no cumplimentary coffee

The guy at the front desk called us a cab. The carpet looked like it was straight from an outdoor back porch. No TV remote. The room was clean enough. We got clean sheets and towels, but there was no remote control for the TV and the reception was pretty bad. The colors on the walls made the room look depressing and drab. Our view was of the power generator that would strike up and sound like a spaceship was landing right outside our window every 15 minutes.

This was a very good hotel for the price we paid. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Very convenient location. They charge much less by booking online. To extend the stay the price was much higher at the front desk.

This is not the best hotel in town, but it is perfect for a safe, easy, affordable stay. Literally saved 50% by booking on online travel website (not a paid endorsement, but an encouragement to buy your ticket online before you arrive) - walked in, gave our name and were headed to the room in a couple of minutes. Our room had a great view and was well tended to. The bathroom was fine except the sink drained very very slowly (but I didn't complain, it wasn't that big of an issue to us). Hotel San Francisco is within two blocks of beautiful Alameda Park in one direction and lots of small food places in the other direction. I wouldn't recommend walking around outside at night alone - no personal problems, but it looked kinda 'seedy'... if you know what I mean. There is a lot of construction going on this area (rebuilding a large facility across the street) but the room was very quiet at night. The buffet dinner and breakfast were fine, and affordable (90 pesos and 50 pesos respectively). The staff were friendly and accommodating. Although nothing came up that needed a specific request, the encounters I had with the front desk, the bellman and the wait staff in the restaurant were extremely inviting, friendly and helpful. The hotel has its own taxi, which was very nice to get to the airport (which is 13 miles away... the cab rate for two of us was about 200 pesos). Not having to chase down a taxi on the street was a very nice added benefit. I personally wouldn't choose this place to stay for a long, relaxing, vacation trip... but for a couple of days between legs of a longer journey - it was a life saver.

Location. No A/C or fan. This is a great hotel if you are willing to sacrifice a bit of comfort [no A/C or fans] for the greatest location possible in Mexico City. It is close to Metro stops and to the hub in the city. It is also only a ten minute bus ride from the Zona Rosa in which you find most of the city's restaurants.

If you are looking for something cheap and in a great location, this is the place to stay. The location is very close to several metro lines. The hotel was clean and seemed to be in a safe neighborhood. The room was clean. The rooms could use some updating but I would rather pay less money than sleep in the dark in a pretty room. The beds were very comfortable.

Very friendly and helpful staff that made excellent suggestions for excursions, landmarks, where to go at night, eat, etc. Clean, but nothing fancy. A little noisy from nearby construction. Excellent location near several cultural landmarks. Hotel food pretty good. Exciting atmosphere. Truly authentic Mexican hotel and ambiance.. Just wish TV worked better.

Sorry nothing good. I did not like the hotel in general; everything was bad with the exemption of two employees. The first day they gave an ugly and dirty room and also the smell was terrible in addition around the hotel are in construction many edifices and the noise was insupportable. The first day when I opened the bathroom door the first thing that I saw was a big cockroach was disgusting. I went to speak with somebody in the lobby (in the morning) and the person there was polite and professional and he gave me other room much better but the noise and bad odor was the same. But the terrible thing was that somebody in the hotel stole my souvenirs that I bought in Mexico. I couldn't stay in that's hotel one day more and I left the hotel May 28 and I spent my last nigh in the Hotel Casa Blanca. In general my hotel experience in Mexico was horrible. Thank you.

This hotel had great location but NOOOOO A/C it was so hot in the day and cold at night. It was crazy for about $ bucks more you can stay around the corner at a sherton and they have A/C. Great location. Staff was ok but not interested in exceeding your exceptions. It states that they have internet access but you have to pay for it. The restroom stink like sewage very bad. Overall I would not stay again. I am a TEXAN I'm used to heat but I need my A/C. :)

Excellent location and friendly staff. Hotel is old but clean. Restaurant service was excellent but food was not very good. I would recommend this hotel for a budget leisure traveler because of its excellent location, in the historic centre of town. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, despite the fact that I did not speak English. Occasionally an unpleasant smell wafted up through the drain pipes, because the hotel is old, I guess. However, the room was very clean and well maintained. The entire plumbing etc. Worked. The view isn't great; my room looked out on a construction zone, but there wasn't a lot of noise. The serving staff in the restaurant was very friendly. The food was safe -- I didn't get sick -- but it wasn't very good and was, for Mexico city more expensive than it needed to be. The restaurant was, however, very convenient. It was nice to be able to get some food easily after sightseeing and walking all day. Basically, I enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to my friends. It was an excellent value.

If your on a budget, its ok. The construction across the street will wake you up early. Basically the way I saw it, this hotel is good to just spend the night, since it doesn't have amenities. The room was clean, the bathroom was clean, and the staff was professional. I would stay there again, but like I said, don't expect much and its cheap and clean.

Convenient location, good price Very basic and old rooms The Hotel San Francisco, located about 100 yards from Mexico City's Alameda Central, is a great budget choice. Rooms are of average size and mine included an old but quite comfortable bed, a dresser/desk, and a TV that worked sometimes. The shower was one side of the bathroom and flooded unless all three bathroom drains (including the one outside the shower) were uncovered. Although the furnishings were old, the room was clean. There are two buildings under construction on the block, but they do not work after dark so it did not affect me at all. Like most buildings in Mexico City, the rooms in this hotel have neither heat nor air conditioning; the window opens wide enough to drive a car through if you need fresh air. Housekeeping brings 2 free 500mL bottles of water every day, a nice touch even though authorities in the DF say the tap water is safe to drink. Other than one American tour group and a couple Australians, the vast majority of the hotel's guests were Mexican tourists and groups. If I were the type that spends a good amount of time in my hotel room, I'd look elsewhere, but given the great location and the bargain-basement price, the Hotel San Francisco makes a great base for exploring Mexico City.

Absolutley the worst Hotel I have ever been in. Maybe it would be best to use it as an Animal Hospital or a Morgue. I am not sure why this place is listed anywhere as a recommendation.

The hotel(if you can call it that)is old and dirty. The management company hasn??t spent a dime in upkeeping or renovations. The area were it is located looks like you are in a war zone. Nothing looks as if any attention was invested in it.

"the room we were assigned to had what looked like a dirty bathroom (mold in the shower). We complained to the management & the assigned maid came in person to see what the specific complaint was. Later, we were given a choice between 2 other rooms on different floors. I feel that the staff and management went out of their way to please their customers and they were very pleasant and helpful. This offset the first negative impression."

"The nights I stayed there were one of the most sleepness nights I have had!! During the days I stayed there, there were students who were partying until 4a.m.! There was construction on the other side until 2a.m.! No A.C., which made it hotter to sleep through. Bed was broken from one side. It was not what I had expected, even from a 2 star hotel. Very Dissapointed."

"I never stay in this type of hotel in my life.Everything was wrong. This hotel should not have any stars, and should not be un option to stay. The room was dirty, the bathroom was a disaster.only 2 towels.I suppose to stay 2 night, but stay only one.I did't use the bathroom.the worth motel in usa is better than this hotel."
