Truly Fantastic Hotel in the Peak DistrictWe went up for a weekend of hillwalking in the Peak District. Arrived Friday night; left Sunday. The hotel itself is immaculate and a lot of thought has gone into the decor. Room was excellent - very comfortable, clean and great interior. Service from start to finish was better than most hotels we've stayed at in the UK (and abroad). Food menu and execution fantastic. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and will certainly be going back. Great location for access to Derwent Valley, Kinder Scout etc.

Beautifully appointed and very friendly Inn.We stayed for one night for my boyfriend's birthday. I only wish it could have been longer, the people were very friendly and helpful. The room was perfect, not something I've ever said about a hotel room before. The breakfast consisted of exactly what you wanted, freshly cooked so no dried up food there. We didn't have an evening meal but would love to go back again. I would recommend the Samuel Fox Inn to friends and family , actually I already have !

Great breakA really good find! Very nice place and room was lovely. If I was forced to make a negative comment it would only be that there was no full length mirror in the bedroom. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful and the food was fab. Would definitely go back.

GREAT little "pub with rooms" or "boutique hotel"Boasting just four rooms the Samuel Fox Inn is a GREAT little place to stay. Quality of the building and rooms is excellent. The service was absolutely spot on - warm and friendly but also efficient. Chef is a very clever man - try the shoulder of lamb ( I won't ruin the surprise! ). We had a simply wonderful night's stay. The Inn is close enough to Castleton that you can do everything you want in the area but is also far enough away not to be bothered by the teeming hordes of grockles.

Superb much needed Break We had a wonderfull break at the samual fox inn with a gorgeous room with all the added extras for that special touch and excellent hospitality thanks to Kelly. Not to mention the food, we had two evening meals and breakfasts all of which were delicious. We could not fault anything.

The Samuel Fox ExperieceHaving just finished a two week cruise we just wanted one more night away to complete the holiday . When we got to the hotel we were welcomed and shown to our room . It was very comfortable with thoughtful little touches and a beatifull view across the valley . We went for a meal , there were plenty of local people eating and drinking which is always a good sign . The menu was imaginative with something everyone could enjoy and portions were of a good size and well cooked. All in all a lovely place to stay and with many interesting attractions well within reach .

Returned home Sunday after a short break at The Samuel Fox Country Inn and can highly recommend it.My wife and I originally booked for two nights but were so impressed we ended up staying for four. Our room was spot on and the managers Kelly and Charlie really worked hard to ensure their guests enjoyed their stay. Charlie is an excellent chef and we really looked forward to breakfast and dinner times as we knew we were in for a treat. Kelly could not be more pleasant and is very efficient at her job even though she works very long days. We will certainly be back again.

Fantastic service and great food.We had a great break. We were very spoilt by Kelly who made us feel very welcome. The food is also great and we had a very nice meal which was reasonably priced. The breakfast was a real highlight and is included in the cost of the room. There are many hotels where I have paid over £15 per person for a breakfast and it has not been anywhere near so high in quality. One small negative is if (like my wife) you are a light sleeper you may find the noise from the road an issue. However, the overall service and comfort provided totally outweigh this small negative for us and we would have no hesitation in going back.

Pleasant but quietRooms, decor etc. very good for a pub, recently refurbished I think. Very quiet when I was there (no other guests staying, and only 1 other couple came into the pub to eat). Staff said it can be quiet during the week but busy at weekends. No cask beer on which was a bit of a shame, but good menu, wine list and service. A totally empty pub does lack atmosphere though. Also I was given a room at the back overlooking the carpark, when there were 2 empty at the front with a view (of course I didn't know this when I checked in) - why do some places do this? Why not think 'what would I like if I was staying here?' Start with your best room.

Nice place to stayI'm normally a bit wary of B&B's thanks to the agressive landlady/rules and regulations stigma. None of this here though. I was made to feel very welcome, could come and go as I pleased and had a very well appoited room. Free WiFi was an added bonus. If I had to find a negative it would be traffic noise which was a bit of a problem for the rooms facing the front of the building as the road is pretty close and is quite busy.

Beautiful little getawayWhat a little gem! Fantastic hospitality, wonderful location, delicious food (generous portions) and contemporary rooms with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Unfortunately we didn't have time for the fresh coffee and chocolates on arrival but it's a lovely touch. The bed was wonderfully comfortable too. We will definitely stay again x
