We stayed in early Feb. Made reservations thru the travel website. Everything was as promised. Reservation was waiting for us upon our arrival at front desk. Overall impression was this was an incredible value for Paris. We paid around 138/nite. All prepaid on the travel website beforehand. Didn't have to worry about exchange rates, etc. Hotel was small, very boutique like (which I guess a lot of Paris hotels are!). Small modern boutique sized lobby, small area for breakfast (which looked like just cold cuts and fruit--we passed on it each day to hit any of the area bake shops). Small 'boutique-like' elevator :) Narrow hallways. We had a tiny room on the top floor--basically just enough room to walk around the bed. But it was clean. Had our own private clean bathroom and we made it work. There are 'larger' rooms there, but I think these small rooms go for the lowest rates. Room was quiet. Staff spoke English and was very helpful with directions/requests for help. Location is great. I wouldn't call it walking distance to any major location (except possibly the Champs d'Elysse) but then we're not big walkers. It is very convenient to a major subway station (St. Gare) which got us everywhere we needed to go (buy the all day or multi-day pass). I'm usually a hotel snob, but couldn't justify the exhorbitant rates for a luxury hotel on top of the already outrageous exchange rates. This hotel gave us all the basics, with a decent decor all for a price that you couldn't even match in our home town of Wash. DC.

Nice hotel. We had a clean, attic-type room, small but very acceptable. The staff at front desk were very helpful. We were close to many main attractions and walked to most. Good Value.

The room was very comfortable, but tiny as you would expect in Paris. I was disappointed that there wasn't a fridge in the room for water/bar. I thought the staff did a nice job trying to coordinate our shuttle to the airport for us, since we didn't speak any French. They were very patient and kind. The location was great, right next to a big church and a subway station, which took you all over the city. The area was quiet and relatively clean. Also, it was nice to know that they had a lock on the door and a staff member was able to unlock it for you at all hours of the night. We felt safe! The cost of the continental breakfast was expensive and wasn't that great of a selection. It's good for location if you just want somewhere to put your head down for the night.

Although the hotel is located in a more quiet area (perfect for sleep deprived people who need some quiet surroundings at night), the hotel was extremely well accessible via metro. It is also a 10 min walk away from Lafayette and 10 min away from the Opera and the nice area of La Madeleine. The room was small but nothing unusual from any other European/Parisian hotel. It was very clean and nice. The service was absolutely excellent. This was my 7th time in Paris and I was a little getting used to their "attitude". But I was so surprised with the wonderful welcome I received. The staff speaks many languages and are very accomodating. I would definitely go back to this hotel.

Nice little hotel, if you visit Paris for a few days stay and you want to be close to the centre. It offers the basic services, the staff is friendly and helpfull.

This was our first stay at Hotel Saint Augustin-Paris 8eme and we stayed in a standard double room. The staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms are very small and the way the bathrooms are located in these rooms is too imposing on the orher huest. Wish the bathroom would have been located in the hall of the room instead of in the actual room. But it was very clean and quiet and what the website says complice with how the reality is. I will try to stay at this hotel the next time I go to Paris, which is once every two months. And also, I'd recommend this hotel, to book a room via internet, to my friends and family! Thank You!

Tres jolie hotel, nice decoration, good position, good quality price -except breakfast. The room had a balcony with very nice views. Size or room above average in Paris. Wi-fi ridicously expensive.

I needed to be in the vicinity of Salle GAVEAU on rue BOETIE for less than 80 €. The hotel was under heavy refurbishing with lots of cement, dust, fresh paint, workmen, noise... The only commercial effort that was made was on a poor breakfast that I took one morning for lack of another solution. I think, considering the inconvienience, they should have made a significant commercial gesture (50€ instead of 80)

Currently under-going renovation. Fumes very strong. Would avoid this hotel for the next 6-12 months. The room was very small; breakfast was average, service was a little below average. Reasonably priced for the location (once the noxious paint smells are gone).

Perhaps this will be a nice hotel in 2007. The are beginning renovations and should probably be closed or lower their rates considerably at this time. The stairway was covered with paint cans and pieces of wood. The workmen began quite early; so we awoke every morning to pounding hammers and buzzing saws. The hotel was on a small sidestreet and difficult to find. If you go, ask a local where St. Augustin Church is; it is only a couple of blocks from there. (No one we asked knew where the hotel was.)

Recomendable.

Hotel St. Augustine is in a very good location, within walking distance of the Champs Elysee (10 mins) and yet is extremely good value. The rooms are quite small, (smallest bath I ever saw) but very clean and very warm at night. The hotel is also located near the metro, a mobilis metro card costs 5 euro and allows you to travel through out the city for the whole day. At the time of my stay the hotel appeared to be undergoing some renovation, but this did not affect our stay or the service provided. Breakfast is extra and is typical continental style. The dining room is dated but the staff are extremely warm and welcoming . If you are on a budget, looking for a cheap, cosy weekend in Paris, and your not expecting the ritz I would highly recommend this hotel.

I read the reviews about this hotel only after I made my reservation and I was terrified. I got there and I found the opposite; the place is excellent, the area is superb and next time I go to Paris I will look for another hotel only if there are no free rooms at Saint Augustin.
