I stayed at the Sahara hotel 9/4/08 thru 9/8/08. This was not a mini-vacation. I think the room I stayed in had not changed since my last visit in 1961 at this particular hotel. Those were the days of the Rat Pack. The room was clean except for the carpet. It had many stains. I was told that they planned to remodel that section of the hotel. People working there are very friendly and helpful. The people in the casino part are very nice and helpful to novice gamblers. I think this is a fine place to stay if you want to save money and use your room just for sleeping. !

Public spaces and room in bad need of renovation, though fairly clean --peeling paint, wallpaper, stained carpet, cigarette smoke smell saturating even our non-smoking room.

Dont go, unless you like old dirty rooms. The manager was very insulting and could care less whether or not we were satified with our stay. Not worth more then * per night

Comfortable room without the huge expense that Strip locales are becoming. Quick and easy access to North/South Strip Cat/RTC/Duece Bus (* all day pasess) system as well as a stop right at the Hotel for the Strip Monorail (* all day passes). Fantastic food choices at the Buffet (especially for the value) for only *(with Sahara Club Card, free membership, of course). Fantastically located with shor distance to all Strip locations (except Strat) just to the South and Downtown also just a short location out the doors to the right (pass the Strat and down to Freemont). Good selection of various denomination and types of Slots (wish I would''ve come across the "Dean Martin Wild Party" machines before my last day), reasonable Minimum bet table games, Keno, Poker tournaments, etc.... everything you'd expect to find... or go out and relax by the Pool... Go visit all the other Casinos and see how they have everything over-priced and come back to enjoy the nice folks (guests and workers) at the Sahara... See the "Big" Shows elsewhere (Roseann was not very funny, and IMO not worth ANY price [other than comp]) but enjoy the band at night at the Casbar while playing some nearby penny/nickel slots or relax at a Table... I planned on using the Sahara (for its value) as a good locale to begin/end each day of my stay and to wander to the other Casinos for whatever other action (and I did visit some for sights and sounds) but found I did land up spending most my time there... Convenient, clean, good people, and fun... The Sahara will be my location of choice for my next Vegas trip... If you want to waste money, go ahead and stay elsewhere...

In a town like Las Vegas we expected the Hotel/casino staff they have the majority of friendly welcoming people with the rare staff member not being friendly, it was the total opposite at this location besides 1 bell hop, 2 bar tenders, the minister who conducted our wedding, and the 2 wedding planners the rest of the staff seemed like they could careless if we were there or right out rude.

I was booked through travel website, and when I arrived there was no room listed for me that day. My reservation at the Hotel said I should have been there in June. I had my comfirmation and it showed July. It took me about an hour to get it corrected and get a room. The floor that I stayed on had no working ice machines. There was no microwave nor small regrigator in the room. Parking was not available because of the hotel being a casino which interfered with customers finding a parking space.

It was really convenient having the monorail right there so that you could ride it all the way to the MGM.

My travel costs which included airfare hotel and rental car was of excellent value for the purpose of the trip I took. Hotel check-in was a little long (Probably 20 minutes) as a result of what appeared to be under-staffing. The rooms were tidy but smelled musty and amost-like. The carpet was torn and the windows did not appear to have been cleaned in quite awhile. I was alone on this trip and did not have to spend much time in the hotel. I would not take my family to this hotel. It needs a lot of work and investor/owner upgrade

Overall I was pleased with this hotel. No real complaints (carpet in hallways old and stained) that might lead you initially to think that the rooms might be the same but our room was very clean and comfortable. I think this hotel is great value for money if you are on a budget. Don't expect the Hilton if you are not going to pay Hilton prices and you'll enjoy the experience.

It was okay, but the whole hotel smelled of cigarette smoke and it burned my throat and my eyes. I actually lost my voice because of all the smoke in the air.

The check in and check out line was long and this seemed to be normal for the hotel. It seemed every time we pass the counter there was a line. The swimming pool was nice and we liked the palm trees around the pool. We also utilized the monorail and it was nice that the Sahara is pick up and drop off spot. We felt the buffet wasn't quite as good as a few others we tried.

This was the first and the last time I will stay at the Sahara Hotel. Checking in the clerk was very unfriendly, I tried to do use the internet service in room and it did not work. I tried to call the front desk, the phone just rang. I ended up calling on my cell phone at which time they told me the internet was not working and I would not be billed. I attempted to use the express check out at which time I seen I was charged. The housekeeper knocked on my door @ 11:35am despite the do not disturb sign on the door. Check out is 12:00pm! My best experience was when I checked out; the clerk was pleasant and professional.

The Sahara is a run down old hotel, very reminiscent of its star attraction. I didn't like the filthy carpets, the long lines waiting to check in (every day), the unavailability of a coffee machine or reasonably priced coffee, the broken/obsolete fitness equipment in the workout room or the $6-/day. I liked that it has its own stop on the Monorail line. It has a rather nice pool. The workout room has a gorgeous view (if horrible equipment) and it was inexpensive.

If you just need a bed to sleep in, Sahara is the place to go. Obviously its one of the oldest casino hotels in Vegas and it shows. That being said the staff was friendly but the long wait at check in was a killer. It was probably 45 minutes to 1 hour line.

The hotel is nice, as you would expect but the check in was horrid. 2 or 3 people checking in and out literally hundreds of people. Check in process was 60 to 90 minutes of waiting in line for all guests the entire time every day.

We were given a smoking room and requested a non-smoking one. We were able to change rooms the next day. It looks a little bit old in the rooms. There is plenty of free parking.
