Spent an enjoyable 5 nights at Rydges. Staff all very obliging - service prompt. Deluxe room lovely big clean bathroom and main room. I would book in there again.

Very nice motel. We were upgraded to an even more luxurious room for free (don't know the reason but said thanks!). The city smells of sulfur, but you can't blame the motel.

Hotel rates itself at 4 star. While the romm was clean and tidy, the decor is becoming a bit "tired" so a rating of 3.5 would be more in order. Breakfast buffet was acceptable with restaurant venue a bit like a cafeteria rather than a supposed 4 star hotel.

A superb Hotel, best we have ever stayed in, from the professional user friendly reception desk staff to the absolute cleanliness of the room and a most comfortable bed, which gave us a weary travelers an excellent nights sleep. Thank you.

awsum hospitality through entire NZ. I have been with Rydges in auckland, rotorua, queenstown & christchurch. Too good.

Breakfast was very good with varied options! Bedlinen appeared not freshly cleaned nor iron pressed as if previously used?????Bathtub and wc appeared not too clean either.

The Rydges seems to be on the decline. The room was good size but dusty and worn. The bathroom was dirty. The spa bath had hairs in the jets and although someone came and cleaned it we couldn't bring ourselves to use it. The pool area wasn't clean. The sauna was missing the bottom seat. The lift from the carpark side of the hotel was filthy. A staff member told us it was a maintenance lift but there was no signs saying this. Used food trays lined the lower level hallway for a whole day. Our room has not been cleaned when we returned at 4 pm despite a "please clean the room" sign out. All in all, grubby. We won't be back.

Good location. Larger than usual hotel room with opening windows. Friendly staff. Our package included the buffet breakfast which was excellent!!Have stayed before and would definitely stay again.
