Loved this boutique hotel. We stayed for two weeks and had a great time. You can request the breakfast to be sent to your room and enjoy from balcony overlooking ocean. Loved the marble floors. This was a boutique hotel experience. Brazilian people are very nice and welcome Americans.

I spent 7 days in this hotel on a business trip from September 13-20, 2008. The hotel was mediocre at best. The bed was awfully uncomfortable. The room attendants often did not leave clean towels and I needed to request more. They charge R$5 per day to use the in-room safe. I have never paid to use a safe before. They charge R$40 (US$25) per day for internet service, and the wireless network often dropped the connection. The TV made an awful buzzing noise. When I asked to have it repaired, they simply told me to turn up the volume so the TV sound was louder than the buzz! The breakfast that is included with the room is awful. The eggs were undercooked and the selection was poor compared to other Brazil hotels. I would recommend the new Sheraton that is just down the beach a little ways. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Royalty Hotel is was generally speaking a great hotel. Customer service was excellent. Breakfast Buffet was really good. The hotel is located in front of the beach with a great view. The hot tub did not work properly and did not have hot water. Across the street there is a firefighter and lifeguards station with a helipad. Sometimes they have a helicopter taking off and landing throughout the day so it can be a little noisy. They let you do early checking before 200pm but will charge half day using their rates not orbitz. We paid a orbitz one day rate for their half prize. This is really important to keep in mind because most of US airline carriers arrive early in the morning to Rio da Janeiro. In sum, it was a great experience staying in this hotel and I hope to comeback someday again.
