Expensive Break- not worth the money! We found the Service overall was poor. The Receptionist was unhelpful and was more interested in what was happening in the Office than taking time to take care of the guests. The room was ok, clean and pleasant. The food at breakfast was unacceptable.A proper Continental breakfast was supposed to be on offer but consisted of just 2 croissants!!Overall we did not particularly enjoy our stay and thought it was very bad value for money.

Not impressed at allWhen booking, I made a point of getting a "superior" room. Thank goodness I did not go for anything less, as the superior was anything but. Very average indeed. The good news is I only was there about 14 hours.

this was one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in with bags of character shame about the parkingthe staff were great the hotel was very clean and tidy with a very relaxed atmosphere, we were given a twin by mistake but when mentioned they soon corrected this. the staff were some of the nicest you could hope to meet nothing was too much trouble. special mention to the maids and the young girl on reception they were really sweet. my only negative would be the lack of parking and as a disabled guest this was an issue lugging the bags so far. we had a great time and i wouldnt hesitate to stay again although i would take a smaller bag to carry from parking.

Scarborough breakAccommodation was very good especially as we must have had a free room upgrade. Food was good and staff were friendly and helpful. Only complaint was that we did not get a chance to upgrade to half board in advance and when I telephoned the hotel directly, I was advised that they did not offer a discount on the cost of dinner to residents. I was also slightly annoyed that the information in the room indicated a set menu was available for £25 but was charged at £30 in the dining room (menu displayed at entrance to dining room but without cost so we assumed £25).

First stay in Scarborough and realy enjoyed it. Hotel good value would return againVery old Hotel with a lot of character very clean and well presented. Someone was moaning when we checked out about it being old!!! There is no pleasing some folk!!! The pool was a bonus to us and we enjoyed a leisurely hour there before going for our evening meal. The only complaint could be at breakfast we had to wait ages for tea and coffee then look for our own cups but apart from that I would recommed it to ANYONE.

Long weekendPleasant decor and stylish victorian enrtrance hall. Service was responsive but inflexible especially in the resturant. Parking was on street or in pay & dpsiplay car-park. swiimming pool in the basement no natural light. Good stream room. Superior rooms have a nice sea view.

There was a suspected Viral Gastroenteritis caused by Norovirus at this hotel of which we were not informed and only learnt of it upon our departure. Had this been bought to our attention then we would not have stayed there.

Below expactationsExcellent location and charming building; rooms only partly renovated, but probably the best in Scarborough; public areas need work; breakfast significantly below the standard of the hotel.

Nice old hotelThis is a typically victorian seaside hotel, showing it's age a little, comfortable and nice staff, breakfast was good and included.

The room was of a good size, and the bathroom was above average for a hotel. For a town centre locatio, it was very quiet.

Thought the hotel was ok. The Hotel was nicely decorated for the Christmas Season. The cooked breakfast was ok but i didn't like the sausages at all. Good size rooms. The folder in the room with information on times and prices of serivces was miss leading folder said £6 per tray for room service the menu said £5!!!!!!! The folder said swimming pool open at 7am. I waited over half an hour for it to open (7.35), they had changed the time WITHOUT ANY PUBLIC NOTICE. I even checked with reception before I went down.

This hotel offers a fairly basic quality of service for the price. It is in need of a thorough clean and some refurbishment. The windows looked like they hadnt been cleaned for months and there was mould on the wallpaper in our room. Car parking is a pain as the local NCP closes at 7pm and on street parking is problematic. The staff are not well trained on customer service and can be abrupt. Its a bit expensive for the service delivered but does benefit from a good location.

I have to say we were both disappointed on the quality of our room, we paid £112 for the night for a Superior Room, and arrived at the room to find there was damp on the ceiling uneven floor boards marks on the bath, Poor view from the window and generally just a basic basic room which i would expect from a 2* B&B. We were also unpleased that the parking was at the other end of the street and had to pay £8 for the pleasure. Will not be staying there again or recommending the hotel!

Be sure to unload car outside hotel, as parking is in an NCP a couple of hundred yards away. Very good breakfasts.

Receptionist very very abrupt demanded full payment on arrival NO CAR PARK hadto park in NCP cark park three streets awaythat closed at seven at night and cost £6 00 a night (if you got your ticket stamped by the hotel) £7 50 a night if you didnt.Room smelled of Cat Pee had to have window wide open all the time, this was \"A Superior Room \" no alternative offered.Poor restaraunt menu, only one vegetarian option

Quality hotel but pretty noisy outside up to around 02:00 . The bathroom Xpelair ran all the time which was a little annoying even when the door was shut. Tourism literature provided in the room was dated 2007 so may not be relevant to those not knowing the area. Food was excellent and good value and staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The foyer was of an impressionable bygone era, but that was the extent of the quality of the hotel, the corridors smelled and were shabby. The room, supposedly a superior, (which had not been booked as such by laterooms or reserved correctly by the hotel - Had we not phoned the night before to check details this wouldnot have been corrected!) was by no means a 3 star, the size was good but abnormally hot and no air con, the bathroom would have failed an inspection by the hotel inspector... The breakfast room was more like a canteen and the food poor. If I could get my money back I would!!
