The location to the major tourist locations eg The Grand Palace and the river are excellent. The hotel is more than adequate for the 'average' type of traveller. Would recommend.

Great location in old part of Bangkok, close to Khaosan Road, the river, the national museum and art galleries and Grand Palace - great rates and very friendly staff. Should be 5 star.

Royal Hotel is a great value for mid-range lodging options in Bangkok. The inside is pleasant and clean, the breakfast is decent, and the location is unbeatable. It's within walking distance of the Grand Palace and tourism orgy that is Khao San Road, though crossing the traffic-filled streets on foot can be a challenge. Getting to the hotel from the international airport (Suvarnabhumi - BKK) is easy, since it is one of the last stops on the Airport Express bus AE2 (150 THB).
