The room was clean but quite small -- this may be the case in all center-Paris hotels of this price or class. The hotel itself was very nice -- interesting lobby, etc. It's a only a few steps from Place Pigalle -- which I imagined might have become more "gentrified" since the last time I saw it many years ago, but hasn't. With its open offerings of "adult" entertainment, I don't think this is the place to stay with young children. Nor is the Hotel Royal Fromentin appropriate for the business traveler who needs some room to spread out. But it suited my needs, and the service was friendly and very helpful.

The 'superior' room as stated on laterooms website did not exist. Hotel rooms are all the same, very basic, small but clean. Red light district but still safe enough and close to Sacre Coeur. Very disappointed that I did not get superior room as promised. But beware expect very basic rooms. Would not stay here again.

As you enter this hotel, you know it is going to be special. Wooden beams, painted wooden panels, art noveau influences. This was our second visit to this hotel, and we were very pleased to have the same room again. A very spacious room, one of the best in the hotel with a view to Sacre Coeur. The paintings on the wall are copies of Cezanne and Monet - not prints. We have the choice of two double beds. The bathroom has a bath and powerful shower. Breakfast was simple and included in the price. It is a must to sit in the lounge bar and soak up the atmosphere of the place. Bar charges were very reasonable. 12.50Euros for a half bottle of good wine. The hotel has an informative booklet about the area, the artists, writers and the absinthe. We did the "Stroll through time" walking tour detailed in it.Interesting and easy to follow. The staff were friendly and helpful. They looked after our bags after we checked out. The hotel is just off the very lively Boulevard de Clichy. The windows are double glazed which blocks out the noise. Could be a problem if it is very warm and you need the windows open. The hotel provides an internet terminal free of charge. The lift is really quaint and the windows in the stairwell very stylish. This hotel is strongly recommended. Right in the heart of Pigalle and Montmartre. It is one of our favourites.

This hotel is located in a part of paris which at first sight is seedy but as you walk around the area you realise that first inpressions aren't always right. When we entered the hotel it was like a breath of fresh air it was clean and tidy and the staff spoke english and were really very friendly. This is a ideal base to see the sights of paris as it is 20mins to the eiffle tower on the metro.

The hotel is in a very noisy area. In the summer, with the windows open, it is quite noisy throughout the night.

Just 5 minutes by taxi from Gare du Nord and 2 minutes walk to the nearest Metro station, I found the hotel well placed geographically - perfect for the slightly apprehensive lone traveller! My hotel room was pleasant and clean although I could have done with a slightly larger shower. Hotel staff were very hospitable and friendly and the range of guests that stayed at the hotel made my time there enjoyable. Pigalle is a very vibrant and interesting area. Don't be put off by the overt display of sex shops - in my opinion I found them rather non-threatening! Plenty of pleasant walkways, cafes, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. Great flea market over the weekends. Excellent base for travelling further afield into the heart of Paris.

Great place, very friendly staff. Don't be put off by the location in the heart of the Pigalle red light district!! Parking is €21/24hrs and is in a covered garage about half a mile away, but watch out for the one way system coming back from the parking to the hotel!! A great place to stay and far from the usual "budget" accomodation

Laterooms describe the location as St Ouen sur Seine, this is incorrect. It is in Pigalle, just off the boulevard in the 9th. Although next door to the Sex Projection 2000, this is a traditional family owned hotel that has retained a lot of its original character. It is a great location from which to explore Paris and a short walk to Montmartre. I have stayed here many times, it is always clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. It can be a little noisy in the early hours. If you have a car you'll have to park it at Castorama on place de Clichy. The Cockney Tavern pub opposite is open until 6 am. Unfortunately it has now become an Irish theme pub.

Buona vacanza a tutti!!!

My first stay in Paris couldn't have been more pleasant and relaxed.I arrived very early at the Royal Fromentin Hotel, many hours before the check-in time, and the staff welcomed me and helped with discretion to put my luggage into a locked room near the hall. They correctly informed me that they had reserved me a nice room in a high floor, and that if I preferred, I could have had a lower floor room immediately, since it was already serviced. I chose to keep my 6th floor room, wondering about the view on this very characteristic part of the town.A couple of hours later, when I went upstairs on the old, charming elevator (restored with useful automated internal doors) I walked into the nice room and - wow! - with a breathtaking view over Montmartre!Inside, a comfy double bed, a small tv with international and french stations. The morning after I had a good breakfast with croissant, american coffee, cereals & co. and then I got out to visit the town. The owners of the Fromentin had the great idea of publishing and offering to their guests a short complimentary work about Absynthe and the Cafes around, with a fully enjoyable itinerary through the places of art and literature.Overall, I recommend the Royal Fromentin to all business and leisure Paris visitors. I'll come back for sure.[Excuse me if I leave this review anonimously, but I don't want to be "Google-indexed"]

Located half way between Pigalle and Blanche metro stations, the hotel is literally just off the main street in the red-light district. I wasn't aware of this when I booked and we didn't find the atmosphere intimidating when we were out and about though we tended to be back at the hotel before 11pm. The room was clean if a little on the small side and some of the furnishings were dated and worn. The staff were always friendly and there was someone at reception every time I passed it. Breakfast was continental with cereal available as well as a basket containing croissants / buns / pan-au-chocolate. The metro runs in close proximity and depending where your room is you may hear/feel the metro in the late hours and early morning (we were on the 3rd floor).I booked through laterooms though I noticed subsequently that similar offers on room prices were available direct from their own web site. At £70 / 100 Euros a night I thought the room was OK but could have been better furnished though being a capital city it is probably as good as could be expected. Location wise the hotel was pretty central and within walking distance of Sacre Couer and Monmatre and a quick hop on the Metro to other parts of the City.Arriving from Paris Charles De Gaulle airport, take the RER Train B3 to Gare Du Nord. This costs roughly 8 Euros with tickets available from the ticket machines. At Gare Du Nord it's quite a walk through the station to "La Chapelle" which is signposted and is on line 2. From there get the train to Pigalle (only a couple of stops). Coming out of the station head down the street towards Blanche. The street is on the left hand side a few hundred yards from the station exit and the hotel sign visible from the main street.
