Description:
The Georgian City of Bath is of breathtaking beauty with a romantic history and this special hotel reflects that perfectly. Impeccable style and attention to detail epitomes the kind of experience enjoyed by our guests.Set within the gardens, the unique ambience of The Bath House is designed for relaxation and pleasure and offers a combination of treatments and therapies. Other leisure pursuits include our own hot air Balloon, and the beautiful 1920 river launch, the Lady Sophina. Restaurants in Bath dont come any finer than The Dower House where Head Chef Gordon Jones and his brigade work closely to develop the synthesis of innovative cuisine within this rich architectural setting, striving to create the very best gourmet cuisine for a contemporary British menu that draws on influences from both the Mediterranean and the Far East. The Dower House is the Royal Crescents award-winning restaurant and one of the finest restaurants in Bath, if not the finest, open to both house guests and non-residents. The menu at The Dower House changes with the seasons to match the climate and to make best use of the very finest fresh ingredients. The cellar, expertly managed by sommelier Jean Marc Leitao, complements the menus and provides ample choice for both the casual diner and the true connoisseur of fine wines. Non residents are welcome for lunch or dinner. However, booking is essential.

Following the usual route signs into Bath from the M4 may cause you delays as the traffic can be heavy and the one-way system sometimes frustrating. We have therefore put together a special route (usually used by Bathonians) from the M4 to The Royal Crescent, which should be trouble-free and, all things considered, should bring you safely to our doors from the M4 in about 20 minutes. From Junction 18 follow the A46 towards Bath for approximately 2.5 miles. You will pass The Crown Inn on your left and then the beautiful Dyrham Park and the Tollgate Teashop on your right.Immediately after The Tollgate Teashop, take a right turn (there are no directional signs). Continue along the twisty road for approximately 1.5 miles until you arrive at a T-junction.At the T-junction turn right (signposted Bristol A420), then immediately left to Hamswell. Follow the twisty road past Toghill Farm on your right, down the hill and up another hill to a T-junction (approx. 1.5 miles). At the T-junction turn left up the hill, following the signs to ?Lansdown and Bath?.Continue along this road for the next couple of miles you will drive along passing Lansdown Golf Club and Bath Racecourse on the right. Continue past The Blathwayt Arms pub on the right and then on to the city outskirts. As you enter the city you will pass the Hare and Hounds pub on the left. The road continues downhill until you reach another T-junction with a church to the left.Turn right at the T-junction and then drive down the hill, passing The Farmhouse Inn on the left and then two pubs on the right -The Belvedere on the corner of Morford Street and The Beehive near the corner of Julian Road. Continue past Julian Road on your right.Take the right turn into Bennett Street (street name carved into the stone at first floor level). Pass Russell Street and Circus Mews on your right.Drive into The Circus (Georgian houses built in a circle). Take the second exit out of The Circus into Brock Street.Drive straight onto the cobbled road of the Royal Crescent at the end of Brock Street, by the telephone box. Drive towards the centre of the Crescent. The hotel is Number 16, adjacent to the large magnolia tree. Please park your car at the front of the hotel and our Concierge will valet park it for you.Have a safe and enjoyable journey

Hotel is in a fabulous location. Quite amazed though as despite the high price for the room the TV was very small (i believe it was a 14inch screen) and there was no minibar in the room. Otherwise very nice room with gret views onto the communal gardens.

The food was amazing! It is without doubt the best meal we have had in any 4 or 5* hotel anywhere in Europe. The opportunity to sit in the beautiful garden was perfect after some sightseeing and being able to drive up to the front door and have the car valet parked was just ideal. The staff were great - professional and appropriately friendly. We will certainly return. If you are looking for somewhere special, but relaxing, this is the place!

Stayed for two nights, dining in the second. Breakfast was great and the window table a bonus. The spa was very well appointed.A definite plus. The room was good but the bathroom plumbing was antique with no standing shower. The setting is one of the greatest in England.

The hotel is in a superb location of Bath. We spent two nights to celebrate my wifes birthday and had a most enjoyable stay. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The staff could not have been more helpful, from assisting with luggage, taking the car away and making sure we settled into our room. All the staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. Time spent in the pool area a real treat and so relaxing. Would definately recommend the hotel for that extra special treat.

This is a spectacularly over the top Hotel . The location alone is worth a dig into the depths of your pocket, BUT the bar is ludicrously placed by a set of doors which leave a constant draft blowing through into the dining room, as well as the rather grim grey decor area of the bar itself. Too many of the staff are germanically efficent which does leave a taste of over regimentation, where a more homely feel would be appreciated. Could do with friendly seating area instead of the 2 main reception rooms which look like exhibits from The British Museum.

A beautiful hotel in a wonderful location, however the hotel room we stayed in would benefit from some refresh of decoration as some elements were a little shabby. Excellent service from all staff we encountered.

We stayed a Sunday night to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary - it was an excellent choice for almost 24 hours (you can check out at 12 noon!) of absolute relaxation and luxury. The RCH occupies a prime location in Georgian Bath - the exact middle of the Royal Cresent (have a look on google image) with a garden at the back leading to a bar, restaurant, the Bath House (complete with small candle lit pool) plus sauna and beauty therapy rooms.Staff were welcoming and friendly without being overbearing. All facilities were faultless.Ate out so cannot comment on dinner. And there's no need to worry about parking - a porter takes the car away and sorts out your bags when it's time to go.Will definitely return for another special occasion.

Easy to chill out from the moment you arrive. Well worth a visit provided you don't have to pay full price for a room. Eating in the hotel would probably double the cost of your stay, but local bars and restaurants are within 5 mins walk.

Not just a hotel - an experience. Fabulous service, delicious food (legendary cheese board), and the most relaxing spa/pool complex I've ever visited. It's expensive, but it's worth it. If you're deciding between this & any other hotel in the city - book this one.

Fantastic hotel for a special occasion, formal yet attentive. Great to find bedrooms that are better than home - a rarity in the UK.My wife and I travelled from Cheshire by train as the location is only a 10 minute walk to the main shops and restaurants. The rail, however, was four and a half hours!
