Quality hotel in good locationVery good value hotel from late rooms. Close to airport bus dropoff. Breakfast expensive so eat at Browns in George Street or in cafe on Rose Street.

Nice hotel but beware the extra chargesWe had a nightmare getting there because of the roadworks in the city, we had spoken to the hotel when booking but they didn't warn us about it. The hotel was nice and the staff friendly and helpful. However it is expensive to park ... £19 per day! Also they charge £2 to pay by credit card and £4 for 20 minutes on the internet. We had our own laptop but our access was blocked - obviously, so you have to use theirs at a premium. I have stayed in hotels all over the world but never been charged for using my credit card before or for use of the internet in a public area.

Great Location and well appointed rooms. Thought the price for breakfast - which we choose not to have - was a bit expensive but we were able to find local eateries with just a few minutes walk where we were able to get a big, not expensive, breakfast

Our stay in July 2009We were met by nice friendly staff at the check in desk, when we got to our room it was spotless, we were over the moon by the size of the room. We had a delightful stay and will definitley be back 1st class hotel.

Roxburghe ReviewThe location was central and very convenient for numerous eating places. We stayed on a room only basis and had breakfast each morning in Brown's which is just behind the hotel on George Street. The breakfasts there were excellent and much cheaper than the Hotel's. Our Hotel room was adequate in size and had been newly refurbished. Although our room faced out onto George Street we weren't bothered at all with noise during the night. We found all of the staff at the Hotel to be very helpful and friendly.

Quality Four StarA Quality four star hotel in an excellent location in the centre of Edinburgh. Good sized double bedroom with air conditioning and really comfortable bed. Good service and very clean. A couple of points to be aware of. Because it's a city centre hotel you do get some noise outside. Car parking is £19.00 for 24 hours, but it is on site and secure. Breakfast, if it's not included in your room rate is vastly overpriced. A reasonable buffet breakfast except it costs £17.50. That's £35.00 for a party of 2 to serve themselves! If it hadn't been included in the price, it would have spoiled our stay

The shower didn't run hot (although it was promptly fixed)7u, the1970s hairdryer packed in and on Sunday the lift wasn't working. The room was very average and the bathroom actually pretty tired looking so I guess I'm left wondering what this hotle offers to charge so much and earn its 4 stars.

Lovely hotel in the heart of EdinburghWe booked two rooms, a double and a twin. The double was on the 5th floor with great views of the castle, the other was on the second floor overlooking the inner courtyard. Both were were well presented, clean, comfortable and quiet despite the hotel being full. The food in the Melrose restaurant was excellent, and there was a special offer for those wishing to dine before 7pm. The Consort bar was also very nice. There are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants within a very short distance to try if you don't want to use the hotel facilities. The staff were all terrific, smiling all the time, and were very efficient. I will be booking another break at this hotel again soon.

This is a quality hotel in an ideal location for Edinburgh tourist spots. Nice place to stay!The only problem we had was finding the hotel + car park. Once there, happy with all aspects of the hotel.

Booking offer & staff responseI booked a room for 2 nights which entitled me to the 'addiotnal offer' which was inclusive breakfast. I printed the confirmation form but the first line stated room only, the second line clearly detailed that there was a special offer of Free breakfast. On arrival the receptionist was rather curt and advised that it was room only and despite pointing out the information she continued in a loud and brusque manner to argue it was room only. She finally conceded to check with bookings but that would not be until the follwoing morning. I spent the evening rather unhappy about the situation particulalry as it was not resolved. The following morning a different receptionist checked in a folder on the desk and confirmed that breakfast was included. In addition there was a wedding in a room close to the Cafe Bar that I was directed t o for my evening meal. From 9pm - 10pm there was a group of children running and shrieking around the atrium between the wedding room and the bar. None of the staff took any action, after an hour I approached reception and rasied my concern that if adiults created so much noise I assumed the staff would intervene. The staff were sympathetic and agreed with my sentiments but no action was taken. A further 30 minutes passed, I had finished my supper and drink, at which time I left the bar as it was eident the noise was not going to abate.

Our stay at the RoxburgheThe hotel was absolutely fantastic. The room we had was one of the biggest and most spectacular we have ever stayed in. We will definitely look to stay there again next time we visit Edinburgh, particularly as it was right next to where we were visiting. Thank you

size of roomI found the room to be small in size even though I was on my own. There was a double bed in the room and it barely fitted into the space given. Had there been two people in the room movement would have been difficult.

Customer Service at this hotel was exceptional!This is a beautiful hotel in the centre of Edinburgh within close proximity of all of the attractions. There are fabulous restaurants close by. The customer serice was really outstanding - nothing was too much trouble and the concierge staff were a credit to the hotel. It was useful to be able to park at the hotel and the room we had was very clean and furnished to a high standard. I cannot recomomend this hotel enough. We got a bargain and will be staying there again when we return to Edinburgh.

Not Bad At All. We were surprised by the space in our room. It was lovely and comfortable, but we didn't sleep much as the room was stiflingly hot!Lovely staff and lovely quiet pool.
