An Okay Stay! This was the 2nd time we stayed here and we were dissapointed 2nd time. They hotel had 2 weddings on and were busy. It took an hour to get a sandwich which they did give us free of charge. They had run out of WKD and had no fresh limes.. The staff are very very young and have very little experience in dealing with being this busy and this showed in the service which was such a shame as the 1st time we stayed the service was impeccable. We were offered no drinks at dinner and the only thing that kept us happy was the standard of food which was fantastic. The hotel was really let down by it's staff, such a shame I don't think we will return any time soon.

On the road to the Promised Land?Well that is where Rowton Hall is actually. And it was very pleasant indeed - we had a very nice bedroom with a four-poster bed. The food was excellent, the spa facilities extensive, the surroundings secluded, the staff attentive and even the sun shone!

Lovely Anniversary We are local to Cheshire, but hadn’t stayed here before. The hotel was lovely, Country House type accommodation, with friendly staff and great surroundings. The only let down was the Restaurant Manager who didn’t smile once and was quite miserable. However, don’t let that put you off, as all the other staff couldn’t do enough for us and more than made up for him.We had the hot stone massage treatment, which was fabulous and good value compared to other local hotels.Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

At the time we attended the hotel was fairly busy, but we sometimes had trouble finding staff to serve drinks from the bar.Otherwise they were all very friendly and attentive.

Pleasant enough but a little tiredNice hotel, pleasant staff and comfortable room but the food looked better than it tasted (although to be fair dinner wasn't expensive by hotel standards) and neither myself nor my colleague received the wake up calls we'd booked. Whilst the overall impression was that the hotel felt a little tired, it had some character and I've stayed in far worst hotels in the 3 and 4 star categories. Overall it was good value compared to a number of other Chester hotels.

2 nights at Rowton HallWe arrived at Rowton Hall, ur evening meal was good however the waiter bought us our deserts minus the ice cream. We ordered a Mail on Sunday, they delivered the Mirror, we notified them they delivered the correct paper minus the magazine when we informed the reception desk the receptionist when storming off to find the magazine. The t.v in the bathroom didn't work even after notifying reception. When we checked out they tried to charge us for 2 bottles of wine, we pointed this out they altered the bill, no apology,Stay there but don't expect to much from customer service.

I had 2 issues with this hotel. Firstly, there appears to be a reluctance to turn on the heating. I stayed here twice. The first time, there was no heating in my room in the morning. I called reception, and the maintenance manager called back 20 mins later to say the boiler servicing my room had malfunctioned, but had now been fixed and my room would warm up in about 10 minutes - just as I was leaving. The second time I stayed, about 1 month later, I noticed the heating was off in my room before I went to bed. Remembering what had happened previously, I phoned reception to ask them to make sure the heating was on next morning. It wasn't. Woke up to a freezing cold room again. They probably saved a few pennies on the heating, but they will not get my business again. The second issue is with the food. When I last stayed, they produced a menu at 6 oclock, showing what would be served that evening in the restaurant. There were I think, about 5 main courses mentioned. I went to the restaurant at about 8 oclock, ordered one of these dishes, only to be told that they had run out of the choice I selected, and the chef would "put a bit of chicken on instead" - for a set course meal costing just under £20. This despite the fact that there were only 2 others in the restaurant. Although this hotel is in a nice setting, and the staff are very heplful, they seem to have forgotten that actual service is the key.

This should be a good hotel, a conveient location & an old house full of character, but sadly it is not great. The room I stayed in was small & although that was not a big problem for one night on my own, it would have been cramped for longer / a couple. There were serveral problems which I needed to report - only some of which were resolved - worst of all the radiator which could not be turned off / down. The hotel is too expensive for room only.

Our room was lovely, but when I tried to treat myself to a nice hot bath, the water was cold :( I then had to have a quick and chilly shower instead of the relaxing bath I had planned! Staff explained the next morning that the bolier had run out of hot water at tea time due to several customers showering simultaneously... With all due respect, but when paying nearly £150 for a ROOM ONLY I expect hot water in my room!! P.S. The food was absolutely delicious, but £45 a head just because it was Valentine's Day...

The hotel was lovely, the staff were really friendly and helpful. We stayed in one of the contemporary junior suites and the although the view wasn't over the grounds the room was gorgeous and the rate was good. It snowed during the night which made the grounds look beautiful the following day and we enjoyed a walk around them. The hotel was nice and quiet and had a very relaxed atmosphere. The only small things I could pick them up on were the bedside lamp not working, one of the spot lights being out and the top of the tap coming off in my partners hand, oh and the spa brochure in the room was a bit grease stained (at least I hope it was grease!) These thyings were incidental though and would definitely recommend the hotel to others.

Badly needs a refurbishment and better trained staffWe arrived in the snow and with luggage. There is no lift. The 'Junior Suite' we had booked seemed more like a standard room and was crammed with furniture and looked out over rooftops. I asked if breakfast was included and was told it was. We had breakfast room service breakfast the next morning (very small portions such as half a slice of black pudding), but at least it was hot and on time. Checked out to find we had been charged for breakfast. Apparently the receptionist the night before was undergoing training and had made a mistake. I left a note for the manager, and have subsequently also telephoned. No response!

We were very impressed with the hotel and standard of service from all the staff. They were all very helpful and friendly. We got a room upgrade at no extra cost which we were very impressed with. As it was my husbands birthday I booked a massage for each of us in the couples suite which was absolutley fantastic, probably the best massage we have ever had.The only down side was breakfast, on our first morning I ordered poached haddock, when it arrived it was cold and even when the chef had a second attempt it still came back cold. But I would still recommend this hotel and i'm sure we will return.
