We were warmly welcomed to the hotel which is a humble affair with difficult flights of stairs to the various floors. There is no lift so I would not advise it's use for the elderly or infirm. Although our room was comfortable enough, naturally well lit with a good view of the street outside, it was opposite several up and coming street cafes and modern lounge bars which attract young and noisy revellers late on at night. Due to unexpected sun over both days, our room became too hot for sleeping and with the noise outside, we could not open the single glazed windows. Sleep was therefore at a premium until well after closing time.If you want to be part of a lively nightlife scene on the doorstep, then this might be for you. It's cheap, cheerful and near to the centre of this lovely town with its restaurants, bars, beach and pier. They do a popular roast some evenings, but there is plenty of choice elsewhere and so too are there plenty of other hotels, guest houses and B&B at similar or cheaper rates.

I was very disappointed with the restaurant food where I had my evening meal - the service was chaotic - I would hate to have been there on a busy night. The food was not good - the steak was very tough and the chips under cooked. The wine was not sufficiently chilled.Paying for my meal was an adventure - payment had to be made at the bar - the only staff member in the bar area was unable to take payment - eventually someone else came and I asked if I could pay with my final bill the following morning. Whilst this was agreed to my restaurant order appeared to be difficult to find - as there were only about 4 other tables occupied I was surprised at the problems this caused.

The room we were given was in the attic. There were 56 stairs to climb each time we came in.The room was very warm with not enough ventilation. When it was time to go to bed the area became very noisy making sleeping difficult. The heat in the room did not help.We ordered a bar meal and waited nearly an hour to be served after our order had been taken. When the food arrived it was good exept for my husbands who got a hair in his curry. This was the first time we had taken our grandchildren to a hotel. It was very disappointing.

Good budget hotel. Parking was 'iffy' but ALL hotels were thesame. Read some bad reviews so was very worried about my stay. However the staff are very friendly. The bar is very hot so wear a Tee shirt.

The breakfast was very good more than we could eat, set us up for the day. We missed out on the carvery, not told even as a guest we should book, so resturant was full. It is an old Hotel and as such decore is a bit tired. The main problem we found was our room was on the front of the Hotel and we did have a slight problem sleeping untill after the pubs cleared out due to the noise. Beds very comfy over all very good value.

The service was second to none and the staff were extremely helpful, which made it an enjoyable stay.

Hotel was generally acceptable, clean but decor was a little dated. We arrived with suitcases and were shown to the family room which was in the attic, this would not have been a problem had there been a lift, but as it was we had to make our way up seven flights of stairs to get to our room. It didn't bother me or the children that much, but my husband has severe asthma and struggled to make his way up the stairs. I probably should have checked this out before booking, but it would have been nice to have been warned in advance. For this reason I would not recommend the hotel to anyone who has difficulty climbing the stairs if you have booked a family room. I presume you could request a ground floor room if you needed a double or a twin. However, the staff were very friendly and the food was nice, we only had breakfast but there is a carvery on every day except Sunday evening.
