We were given the backrooms so a long walk from recepetion with luggage..room was very basic..with very little facilities.the hotel looks extravagent when you drive in but on close inspection the age shows..just needed somewhere to sleep as spent most of the weekend travelling around purbeck and weymouth..great places to visit..next time will seek an alternative..

Time warpWe found the hotel to be stuck in a 1960's time warp, It was run like a Hi De Hi holiday camp.

AwfulI can honestly say that the Riviera is the worst hotel by far that I have ever stayed in. Service was appalling, the room looked extremely tired and breakfast was cold and inedible.Terrible place.

I had a room above the kitchen and it's noisy with the extractor fan on and it makes the room smell of food when the window is left opened. The pillows were smelly, it was difficult to regulate the temperature for the shower. I was disappointed to be told that I could not have my breakfast earlier so that I could leave for a long journey ahead when I checked out. The rigidity of the staff in charge reflected an uncaring and inconsiderate hospitality, I left without my breakfast for my long journey.

DifferentExcellent location with wonderful view over Weymouth Bay. Unusual bedroom with the door opening straight onto the outside. Breakfast was bizarre! There were 2 set times - 8:30 and 9:45. We were allocated 8:30. At 8:30 we entered the dining room only to be told to wait outside as they were putting the tea and coffee pots on the tables and for H&S reasons we had to wait outside. Cereal was served to the table as was the cooked breakfast. There were no baked beans as they were not available on a Sunday or a Wednesday!

Room at rear of hotel in block which is very tatty. Room nothing special but clean and manageable for a night's B&B Didn't expect to climb an outside iron staircase to reach room and with no close parking the carrying of luggage was quite tiring. The hotel is still very much the old style chalet blocks and can be quite noisy. Hotel location is good close to sea, beach, cliffs and walking fields.

Ok as a bed for one nightThe place was clean and they put on entertainment in the bar at night which was good. The room was small sparcley furnished and uninteresting.

Hotel from hellStayed here in transit to Jersey for the following day. Hotel looks good from the outside and is in a prime location, but is very poor quality inside and not up to modern standards, a clue was the metal framed windows as we drove by across the front and the chalet style rooms reminiscent of pontins days no doubt.

Good value for money as long as your expectations for accommodation are not too high!My expectation levels were not too high as we had paid a reasonable price, the accommodation hasn't proberly changed too much since it was built in its original format of a holiday camp, however it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The gym facilities and pool were supprisingly modern! Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a complete disaster, very short staffed with no orgainisation and very young staff with not much experience, this does seem to be a common mistake in cost savings within hotels! In the end we just waited too long and decided to take breakfast elsewhere, apart from this, the stay was fine and for the location and value for money I would stay again!

disasterWe arrived at the hotel at 6pm as agreed,we was greeted by a receptionist with poor attitude. We had booked a double room, yet the receptionist told us we had to have a twin room! They had all contact numbers for us and all day to do so,yet no one had made the effort to pick up the phone to inform us that they could no longer provide us with a double room! To make matters worse was the attitude of the receptionist, she told us straight as if she just wanted to get rid of us that we would have to come back later for our receipt of payment. Then there was a problem with breakfast,we was told to be there at 9.15 to then have to queue out side for 10 minutes to then get greeted by staff who had no idea where anyone was sitting or where table numbers were.We found an empty table ourselfs in the end to then be sat waiting for 20 minutes with no service what so ever,we wasn't even so much as offerd a drink while we was waiting for food to be served! After seeing many people get up and leave,we then decided to do so ourself and find breakfast else where! We then went to hand in our key's to find there was no one at the reception, there was no bell to ring. We waited for 10 minutes along with a few other people to hand our keys in,so in the end we all just had to throw our keys on the desk as we didnt have any way of finding assistance. This is not how we expected to be treated when paying for there services!

Set In a time warpWe stayed in this hotel for a wedding reception, function rooms were ok but accomodation is set in a time warp, still has holiday camp feel, was originally Pontins, pretty basic standard but is in alovely spot overlooking Bowleaze cove. Has a nice outdoor swimming pool didn't use ( out of service ).

Affordable accomodationThis is a former Pontins chalet type hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. If staying there for a £1 per person per night suppliment you can have a view of the sea with fabulous views. We only found this out when leaving unfortunately.

for the over 60'sclean, but very out of date building, our room was behind the hotel itself, rooms clean but old looking, breakfast was ok our only problem was that if your a group of 2 they put you on table with others.

Service from staff was good, food was good, Entertainment was good .Accommodation was comfortable but smelt a little musty needs modernizing, rooms need to be completely redesigned new bathrooms and modern furniture to get away from the chalet look, location and views of hotel is excellent no probem with parking this time of year but could be in the height of season so maybe a larger car park is required.

Hotel seemed further from Town centre than advertised.Staff were friendly, helpful, approachable and put themselves out to help and make suggestions for our itinerary.Room was very small and basic.Surreal with Christmas celebrations starting on Haloween!!

The hotel was very clean and comfortable - Not the best quality rooms though, they are pretty old and fairly cold in the the winter months as the windows are single glazing and the set up is definately 1970's. The staff were relatively helpful but service, especially at breakfast was terrible. We asked for a table for breakfast and were ushered to sit in reception to wait whilst they flapped about over being too full. The food was pretty average. Evening entertainment was fun but definately pitched at the older generation - Western Night was definately an experience :) The hotel is fairly close to Weymouth centre - If you don't have a car you will find it difficult to get to the city centre unless you walk for 30min. I would stay again - its simply cheap and cheerful.
