The hotel was clean and good location. But the lift was really small so if you have big luggages, you might have some difficulties. Also toilet makes noise all night so it was really irritating. Most of staff were very nice and helpful, but one french girl was really rude and hardly spoke English. she should get some proper training what the customer service is. Moreover she CHARGED ME TAX which I was not informed in advance. If there is a city tax which everyone has to pay in paris, I wouldn't mind to pay.. but they should have informed about it. I only knew that there is no hidden cost through venere.com. and it was even more unpleasant with her attitude. ( I didn't pay any tax for the hotel I stayed next day which is in central paris as well )

The web site offered a double room with shower. We were given a terrible little room and they said it was an "economy" room but this had not been stated on the web site pricing. They did shift us to a better room for the same price the second night after we complained and showed them a brochure we had picked up for alternative accommodation, far nicer and even better situated for the same price per room they were charging.

I think that this was a lot of money for two tiny noisy rooms in a hotel with unhelpful staff. We were a couple renting single rooms and they put us two floors apart. Cleaner was great tho, it was very clean but dingy needing decoration with ancient curtains and bed linen. It was almost impossible to get into the shower since the shower door was blocked in opening by the bidet. In the other room, once in the shower there was nowhere to hang the shower or a shelf to put the soap/shampoo, and the water overflowed the tray. It seemed impossible to order a taxi to come to the hotel, the staff were unwilling and seemingly unable to call them for us. All street taxis were full, and she only agreed to call them after we had stood in the street for 25 minutes.

The rooms look better on website pictures. The room was extra small, and not clean enough. I could hear the people next door.

Hotel Rive Gauche has a perfect location. It is just a few minutes walk to Notre Dame, The Louvre, Saint Sulpice and the famous " Cafe Flore", Brasseri Lipp etc. The rooms are small, and some of them very small. But - it´s cheap.Do not eat breakfast at the hotel. There are cafes in the neighborhood.
