The room was nothing special. The carpet was ugly. The location of the hotel was awesome. It was right on the beach. Pool was nice. The food was great and you could almost eat whenever you wanted. The gym was small and not much to it. Only draw back was all the cruise passengers come to the same beach. A lot cheaper than atlantis. I would stay again.

The room I stayed in was disgustingly filthy with mold on the carpeting and the walls and ceilings, rust in the sink and bathtubs. The outside veranda was small and also filthy. This was the condition of another room as well. Although all inclusive beach umbrellas must be rented for at least $20 a day. It took six months for customer service to finally acknowledge conditions and the result was a voucher for another stay somewhere else in the Riu chain. A request for a credit adjustment was refused. I would not recommend to my worst enemy. I also wrote to the Bahamas minister of tourism to complain but never received an acknowledgment or reply. Very disappointed, this time around, would not consider going back to the Bahamas.

The location to the beach. The staff was not the friendliest and the beds were uncomfortable refrigerator was warm. This hotel had the potential to be nice but fell short. The rooms were okay but the beds were uncomfortable one was barely sleep able, it sunk to the middle and two people could not sleep on it I had a floating thing for the pool I slept on because it was more comfortable. The refrigerator was warm, so what was the point. Would go somewhere else next time.

The hotel was old. Rooms were dirty and old. The bathroom faucets were crusted with mold and not clean. The carpets were dirty. On arriving we were placed in a smoking floor and room and it took 24 hours before we could get a non-smoking room. Not happy since we are both alergic to smoke. Reservation desk clerks were not very helpful at any time. Nothing to do at the hotel and food was only passable. Hot food was never hot always cold. The pool water was murky and not clear, did not look very inviting. We went in once and it felt oily. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This is good hotel if you are on a business trip and want a nice view and quiet. Food is great! The hotel is grossly understaffed and management is all but invisible. Nightly entertainment is poor and the atmosphere is as lively as a morgue.

I was a little worried to go to the RIU Paradise Island, but all my fears quickly left after we got to the hotel! We arrived late at night with a large group and they were ready for us and quickly assigned us a room. All the staff were GREAT....very friendly, had great sense of humor and were quite willing to lend a hand when needed. The food was incredible and readily available. The ambiance was fun (even the Calypso lounge had a lot of fun entertainment nights) and they really wanted you to enjoy yourselves on your vacation. I will admit that the rooms were definitely outdated and tired, but they were comfortable enough and all had a view of the ocean (I have also heard that they will be shutting down the hotel from August-December to completely renovate all the guest rooms). The only one complaint I have is that one side of the hotel had a large, loud AC unit that all the rooms overlook...we were originally on that side and asked to be switched to the pool side (which was done the next day)...you couldn't talk on the balcony and the noise was constant, but the pool-side rooms were much better! I am looking forward to going back to see the new guestrooms after the renovations!

Thouroghly enjoyed the riu, Staff very friendly, helped in any way, always willing to help and then some, have stayed at several all inclusives, this resort was the most consumer friendly I have seen. food was great, lots of variety. The rooms do need some updating, carpeting needs replacing throughout, screen to deck torn, furnishings rather cheap. Mini bar well stocked, linens wonderful, any request granted.

this was our 2nd stay at you hotel paradise island we were there the same time last year. last year was a lot better this year was not good, on check in no one could get the door open had to move us to another room, there was no wash cloths in the room no water in the room the hot water worked when it wanted to most of the time it was cold, no remote for the tv, on day 2 we ask the maid to put extra wash cloths in the room and tipped her, but still no wash cloths was left in the room, had to go to the front desk to get them. the wait staff was rude made rude comments at the coffee place about guest leaving it a mess they did but the comment was made to guest that hade nothing to do with it , it was same girl that was rude last year. the bartenders at the pool were more interested in looking at the guest and talking about them then doing there job, i could not get a drink with 5 bartenders working when i ask how many were working i was told just 2 the other 3 were just looking and talking about the guest I was tipping the bartenders very well and still had got a drink when they were ready. we travel with one more couple we like our stay last year so much that we came back this year. we were so unhappy with our stay we will not be coming back, we will stay at one of the other resorts,we wish it could be like last year we loved it at your resort. we were in room 701 and 702 i bet the water bottle i put behind the frigerator is still there. we might try it in a few years and see if it has changed.

My husband and I chose this resort as a quick weekend getaway. Very conveniently located (next door to the Atlantis) so that you can enjoy all the glitz of the Atlantis without the price. Staff was very friendly and helpful, hotel was very clean and well-kept. The food was good for the price. We were disappointed that we couldn't get a reservation in the gourmet restaurant (Alexander) because it was 'closed' for a special event both evenings we were there. The biggest downside was the alcoholic beverages. They were pretty awful. Cheap jug wine, mixed drinks that came out of a milk jug. Tap beer was OK. We went into town and bought our own wine. All in all, a good value for the price.

"our reservation was never submitted by travelagent, we had to go to a interenet cafe in nassau, with our luggage, to get everything handled. we landed at 12:30 , and eneterd our room 4 hrs. later. i was traveling w/ a child, it was a hassle. but, it was not the hotels fault. they actually upgrqaded us to the 14th floor, for our inconvience"

Just came back from a 7 day stay at the Riu, beautiful place, excellent food, very nice vacation. Only bad comment is that the smokers were everywhere, the main lobby was full of people smoking & the lounge, where the evening entertainment is held, was full of smokers. That made it difficult for us non-smokers, aside from that everything was great. A good deal for your money.

I started off badly in this trip. My flight was delayed so i missed my connecting to Nassau didnt get in until 11pm. The staff at the RIU are excellent. The room could get an upgrade. But guess what it was great for sleeping. The comments on the repititous lunch.. BOGUS... Hats off to Roscoe we were unable to book due to the arrival time but we were able to get a reservation the morning Jamal was a great waiter. Dont let the bad reviews fool you this is a great hotel.. I wish i had stayed longer. My Fiance share teh same sentiments and this is why we are writing this.

the food was horrible, the rooms were dirty, and the drinks were watered down, bartenders unfriendly and there was absolutely nothing to do. Spend the extra couple of bucks. this place isn't worth it.

My wife is 5 months pregnant and this is our last trip before the baby and we just went thru Hurricane Ike. We came to the Bahamas for rest and relaxation. However, we had a horrible experience with this RIU. We have stayed at other RIU all around the world and have had no problems. However, RIU Bahamas does not deserve the RIU name. First,we could not sleep at night, the wind was howling thru the sliding glass door. The room was small and bed was old and uncomfortable. We called the front desk to switch rooms, they said you had to talk to a supervisor, she was not in, leave a msge, we did. Did not hear from anyone called again. Still no supervisor. Went down to the lobby, supervisor not there. Left another note for supervisor then went to eat breakfast, then I saw supervisor and told her the problem. She said come by the front desk after eating. We by front desk, no supervisor, no one else would help us. After waiting, I left another msge for supervisor to call us in our room.. Never rec'd a call from anyone. Now this is about 3 hours after my first phone call. At this time we are fed up and called travelocity to change hotels. All this could of been avoided if the supervisor just gave us the time of day. Travelocity did a great job and helped us switch hotels. We went the Wyndham and had a great time. We later learned that this RIU hotel just laid off 200 people and was going to close in Dec for remodeling.

The hotel needs ALOT of updating. The room was far from even being decent and the toilet wasn't really working it flushed all day. The food was ok but lunch was hot dogs and hamburgers every day. Wouldn't stay here again EVER!!!!!!

Pretty much all of the staff besides the front desk was great. The bar captain set up pong for me and pretty much did anything I needed. The entertainment was kind of sucky but the entertainers had a good sense of humor and good heart. Breakfast and dinner was amazing, lunch was so so. But the cooks were great very helpful and polite. The beds were terrible and the hotel needed some serious work, but I think that is happening within the next five months or so they are shutting down for a little bit. After the work is done I would absolutely stay there again, but besides that heck no. We got stuck in the elevator on the 7th floor when we were on the 14th floor then our key didn't work all within five mins of being there, plus they need more elevators. But if your looking for quality of staff and not luxury I would recommend this hotel.
