Service was exceptional. Visited the pool everyday! It was our honeymoon, so we had a couples massage - well worth the money! The first room they gave us had 2 twin beds pushed together and they called it a king. We went back to the desk and asked for a room change and they happily moved us. The food was better than average, the fusion resaurtant was the best, the steakhouse not so much.

The grounds for the hotel were great including the pools but you would expect more music to be played. Beds were hard and box spring was dirty. Jr. Suite is 2 full sized beds pushed together. Bathrooms were nice size and clean. Cushions on lounge chairs should be cleaned more often as birds leave droppings. Food was bland.

This hotel is ok! Only ok! but under staff no room service tip expected all the time ? free drinks and food low quality? old food and dirty? we had no air condition in our room it took them 48 hr to fix it! The bathroom light was out all the time due to electrical problems we paid for ocean view on our booking! We got the main floor room pool view which the door was broken!!!!! Our reservation as they said was not on there system and they took the reservation conformation from us!? beautiful beach only!.. Beautiful pools with dirty water!!!!! You don?t have clean bed you have to go get everything from front desk, embracing!!!! No coporation!!! They call it 5 star I call this hotel 2 star!!! We enjoyed the beach and that?s was all. Never go back again.

We loved this resort. This was our third trip to Cancun. We've previously stayed at one of the sister Riu resorts and were please with that, but the Palace was definitely an upgrade. We will be staying there on our next visit.

We travel a good deal for leisure and have stayed at a lot better for the same price. We went with a group of 12 and were really unhappy with our hotel. We booked in January and was hoping that it would secure us a decent room, not so. We were all on the 13th floor and had a four foot tall, five foot wide concrete wall instead of a railing on our balcony. We paid just as much as everyone else, yet had no view of the ocean. If the hotel wants to sell these rooms, they really should have them as obstructed views and charge less. The other issue is the beds, yes they are as bad as everyone says. I came home with such bad neck pain that I had to see a chiropractor for the first time ever! It is like they just stretched fabric over the strings. We have stayed in Mexico before (Cancun, Cozmel and the Riviera Maya) and firm beds seem to be the norm, but these were absolutely terrible. It seems that the rooms were updated but not very well. The drinks were very inconsistent as well. The alcohol is all off brands that we had never even heard of. The dacquires and margaritas were not good at all. Once we found drinks we liked, we would order and not always get the same thing. On the positive side, the food was really good. In all inclusives sometimes the buffets aren't very good. This one had a ton of choices for breakfast and lunch and dinner was always different. The specialty restaurants aren't great but the steak house is also pretty good. The staff and service was also wonderful. Very nice and helpful. Okay but not 5 star.

Everything was fabulous. I am glad that my daughter opted to stay home as I am from California and I didn't realize that there would be so many topless women. Not too mention that I didn't see many children there during our stay....

I'd stayed at another All-Inclusive the last 2 years. I always wanted to try a Rui property. The Rui Cancun is an excellent place to stay. I spent most of my time at the "Quiet Pool". Met some great people from England. Also [...] at the front desk was very helpful when I extended my stay. I may be going to Cancun in August and if I do the Rui Cancun will be my destination!

How clean it was and how attentive the staff was to any request. I got tired of eating at the buffet . We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend this hotel to anyone! You won't be disappointed. Make sure you make reservations for some of the restaurants - they are definitely worth trying.

- Newport News, Va Week of April 6 - 10 2009 Very freindly staff. Went with boyfriend & some other freinds. Checked in right away with no problem even though check in was noted to be 3:00 pm. Arrived at 12:30. Room was very clean, only problem was fan on a/c buzzed and bed was a little hard. Maid service cleaned room daily and restocked any water / soda that was drank from room refrigerator. Also very freindly those times I ran into her while still in the room. Staff was very freindly everywhere we went. Food & drinks were good as well. Only suggestion I have if you plan on eating in one of the 3 resteraunts that require reservation, make them when you get there. We tried the day after we got there (tuesday) and was only able to get into the Japanese resteraunt on thursday nothing else was available all week. All in all we had a very good time considering that it was also spring break week as well. We are all in our 40's and had a great time and plan to go back again next year.

This hotel definitely lived up to its rating. I have been to Cancun several times, and this is one of the better hotels. Good service, clean and great entertainment!

Hotel is in a great location, very close to night life, and that is the only good thing about this place. Hotel seems to turn off air conditioning at night, making room very, very hot and humid. Have to get up very early to make reservations to eat at the 2 reservations only restaurants, if you aren't in line by 6:00am forget about it. Front desk workers are not helpful, and seem to be unavailable after 11:00pm. Swim up bar pool is nasty, I would not recommend getting in the water. If you want to get a seat by the pool you have to get up very early as people save seats and by 8:00am very few seats left. All the pools were very crowded. To many things to keep track of, room keys, wrist bands, towel cards, safe key, if any of this is lost, it's a charge per lost item.

This was a wonderful trip for me and my husband, we enjoyed the different foods available, the room service and how friendly the hotel personel were and their attitudes toward us. Most of the other people we saw at this hotel all looked happy. Of course we can't control the weather (it rained two day) but you can still go out and sightsee the city. We went by public bus, and it was fun so were the people of cancun. Only thing is watch out for the street guys trying to sell you a free dinner or trip its a scam.

This was an awesome stay at Riu Cancun, just what my family needed, the beach was great as well as the pools. We were there for 4 days and wish we stayed more time. We really enjoyed the food at the Brazilian restaurant, even the kids who are picky found things to eat. It was a great deal because everything was included in the price. The staff was very friendly, it was very close to shops to walk to. We rented a car and went to Xcaret. The only complaint we have were the uncofortable beds.

We stayed at the Riu Cancun for 5 days in April. We booked the whole trip through Travelocity and we were extremely satisfied with all the services. The hotel was all-inclusive and we had no complaints. The buffet restaurant offered tremendous variety of well-prepared, delicious food for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts. Food is available all day and night, though there is no room service. Drinks were excellent with premium liquors if requested. The rooms were very nice and the beds had pillowtops so they were very comfortable. We were upgraded to a suite after the first night because the air-conditoner was not working properly. All rooms are ocean front and very spacious. The TV's are quite small and far from the beds in the suite. They do need an upgrade in that area. The beach was lovely. There are several pools and a swim-up bar. Something for everyone - activities, music in the main pool, and relaxation in the quiet pool. There is no poolside/beach waiter service, but food and bars are very close by. There are other restaurants which require reservations that locks you into a definite time for eating, whereas the buffet restaurant is walk-in anytime, and the food is terrific. There is a different theme each night plus the regular offerings. Food is available at many different stations and there was never a wait anywhere. Seating was indoor or outdoor and plentiful everywhere. Gratuities are included in the hotel fee so you do not have to tip unless you want to give something extra. The staff was friendly and gracious and never made you feel they were looking for an extra tip. The fitness center is a big disappointment - too small for such a large hotel, with some machines out of order.

The perfect escape from the daily grind without bruising your wallet. The food was good. Make your dinner reservations as soon as you check in. Don't delay! Was kept busy all day long with pool activities and social events. Awesome vacation!

My friends and I planned a trip to Cancun. I had been to Cancun once before and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I stayed at a hotel that wasn't all-inclusive on my first visit. The hotel was quiet and beautifully appointed. That hotel was perfect for the traveller who wants to relax on his/her vacation. However this time around, we opted to stay at an all-inclusive resort; the Riu Cancun. My friends were bringing their teenage children with and the free food available was a big selling point for them. And not having too much money for this vacation made the free food a big selling point for me and my companion too. I should state now that I was satisfied (mostly) with the Riu Cancun and its staff. The hotel was nice enough. However, the beds could have been more comfortable. And the mini fridges could have been stocked with more than water, Pepsi and Corona. Perhaps a bag of potato chips? Late at night the only option for food was the "Sports Bar". To have some form of food in the room would have been nice. Now to my biggest area of concern regarding my trip. I was not fully aware of the "Party Atmosphere" that I would be encountering at this hotel. I get it. Alot of people go to Mexico to party and get drunk. I am cool with that fact. I do too, to an extent. But I also like some peace and quiet. Basically it boils down to a couple of bad apples spoiling the bunch. I don't blame the hotel. It's nature of the beast, I guess. But I think next time I will stay somewhere more quiet.
