Our vacation time June 26 - July 4... Since our arrival at the door of this BEAUTIFUL hotel, they greeted us with a margarita and a full smile...we felt welcomed right away... that was the beginning of a beautiful vacation!! This hotel has a great staff from top management to all the workers. We especially loved the activity staff, [...] and [...]!! And our favorite Wait staff, [...], [...], and [...]... Awsome people who really went the extra mile to make us happy.

The Riu Santa Fe is an amazing hotel. The staff is so friendly and accomodating. The resort is spotless you could eat off of the floor. There is something for everyone of all ages to do. The booze will sneak up on you as for its all included and you just keep drinking and drinking. The only complaint is the food. It is terrible. Even the "upscale" restaurants are bad. I would go back to stay at the resort but will eat elsewhere.

just got back on sunday night, got good tips off this site will include them and others as well. 2 weeks before u go have a serving of yogurt a day to load your stomach with good bacteria. and take table spoon of pepto bismo everymorning you are there. i would reccomend booking the transport services cheaper than taxis but beware to find your EXACT transport company once you leave the airport many people will try n scam u. i would not reccomend cabo for the summer months as they have many GREAT activities but the weather is SO HOT they are practically impossible to enjoy or even perform without risking your health. Fitness center was horrible barely any equipment and many said to hot to exercise inside anyway. There is a local gym in town though across the strreet from pacific jewelery also outdoors though n no ac. cabo wabo great for drinks and food - good price, the office good food but overpriced. Food at hotel was pretty good n lots of it. drinks were good but forget about getting even a semi descent wine in all of cabo it does not exist regardless where u go. reservations for dinner at riu 4 special restaurants have to be made EVERYDAY at 10 n people start lining up at 8, not kidding seriously. If u want a good seat at the pool you have to get up at 7 n put your towel on a beach chair to save it for later. ALTHOUGH one person told me they were able to complain to the management n made such a scene that they were able to book all the dining reservations on one day-unverified. Also while waiting to make reservations beware of people cutting the line by sittinginemptyseats

Our first visit and we loved it! Staff was very friendly and hotel was unbelievably clean. Lots of fun and entertainment, beautiful location, and pampered constantly. We did not even need to leave the resort to have fun. We will definately be going back soon.

This is our second time in Cabo for a bachelor party and expected to have as much fun as we had last year. First off the check-in process was quick without any problems. We had 3 rooms and they were able to get 2 rooms adjacent to each other. The 3rd room was not too far away. The resort itself was beautiful with spectacular architecture to match. The rooms themselves were ok. We were hoping for 2 queen beds in the room, but actually ended up with 2 doubles instead. The sheets seemed clean, but felt very worn. The room was fine, but nothing really stood out except the all-inclusive mini-bar. The security was adequate, and provided each room with a safe. We had no problems with burglary. The were 2 main areas of swimming pools and they were both equally huge. They were usually packed with people at all times of the day. What was missing was a hot tub/jacuzzi, they had a couple of sections of jets, but they did not seem to me warm. The food was another story. The buffet was ok, nothing spectacular, and was probably one of the most consistent food we ate the whole trip. The theme dining restaurants needed to be booked at least a day in advance and we found that the Mexican was the best., followed by the steakhouse. Do not go to the Asian themed restaurant, given it was Mexico, it was one of the worst meals we ever had. We did not try the Italian restaurant, however, we assumed it to me pretty bad as well. Although we were hoping to catch some of the Spring Breakers, we ended up with families and their teenage kids trying to hook up with each other. Overall it was a decent.

My husband and I were at RIU for 8 days. Checking in did not take too long, but you have to take your own luggage to your room. Which is quite a distance. I was disappointed when I walked into the room. It smelled, the refrigerator was pulled out from the wall and unplugged and their was a stain on the sofa. There were two double beds that were pushed together and they were hard as rocks. Our 2nd day we went had to go sit in a room lined with chairs to make our dinner reservations. We sat there 2 hours. We ate at the Japanese resturaunt that night and the portions are tiny, food was horrible and it was ridiculously hot. That was the only theme resturaunt we ate at because we heard all the others were just as bad. At the buffets the service is horrible. Items are not covered so flies and bugs are in them. The drinks at the resort are very weak and they do not have top shelf liquor. The soda they have there is even horrible. Be careful when ordering a drink because half the time the cups are dirty. Here's the really bad part. My husband got food poisoning and was extremely sick from Wednesday - Saturday. We even had to cancel our fishing trip because of it. Some days our room was not cleaned and if the maid did make it in there it was to just make the bed. I had to walk down the hall to get our on bath towels several days. When we checked out they did not ask us anything about our stay. Please do not waste your money on this place!!!!

I loved being there at the Riu but there were a few things that were disappointing. First, as most reviews of this place mention, making reservations at the restaurants was terrible, the main buffet was ok but unimaginative and the service was good but the staff at times was uncomfortable because I was by myself. I felt invisible instead of a valued guest. On the other hand, I took advantage of the great shows and the fun things I could do while there and met a lot of neat people. The resort is absolutely beautiful. I'm glad I went but would try somewhere else next time. Oh yea, when ordering drinks, ask for a name brand and make sure that's what you get. Otherwise you get watered-down cheap stuff. Really bad.

I 've been going to Cabo for 20+ years now and have stayed at most of the nicer hotels that you have seen advertised on most of the travel sites. In a nut shell, the place was immaculate in everyway! A solid 9 out of 10 (and it's hard to impress me). The staff were over the top friendly! The buffets were exceptional, along with the way everything was displayed. From flowers placed everywhere along with sculped watermelons and cantalope statues etc. The RIU Sante Fe basically reminded me of a cruise ship, but on land. If you've cruised, you know what i mean. A heads up though.. #1 you are not allowed on the much larger property located directly next to the Sante Fe, called the RIU Palace, the front desk said the day pass was $75. Do not get confused and think you are booking yourself into that huge palace. #2 RIU Santa Fe is spread out over many many acres! So if you don't like to walk a lot, i would suggest looking somewhere else. It's a good 5 to 7 minute walk to the beach from the center of the resort. Most the rooms are located in this center and you don't even know there's a beach around. However, you do feel like you're laying pool side at a very swanky, upscale resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. But since you are going to Cabo, pay the extra few bucks and get an ocean view! And that view is only found in building #7. It's WELL WORTH it in so many ways!! It's where you will find 3 pools (1 exceptionally large and 2 smaller) that are all located directly next to the beach. The smaller two have the most fantastic swim up bars!

Overall the Riu was great. The only negative was the food. The food in the specialty restaurants was not worth getting reservations as the buffett is good. The steak house meal was awful and you really don't get full restaurant service in the speciality restaurants, they are partial buffets. We loved the Latte machines! Service staff were wonderful! Ask for Harry Potter (this is a nick name he uses) at the Buffett breakfast, he took our trip from good to great. Great service! The dinner reservation system was awful for us, but they were converting to a new system when we were leaving. If you don't pay extra for an ocean view, you could get stuck in the back portion of the development which has you so far from the beach it is a 10 minute walk to the ocean. If you don't like to walk a distance to do things, you need to find a smaller resort. The good part about all the walking is you can eat more at the Buffett! The professional dance shows were great, bands and singers good, the local entertainment staff try to entertain you with volunteer guests, but I found their shows not worth the lost sleep. Overall we would go there again. I have stayed at Hotel Solaris in San Jose and I liked it better for the same money. The good part about the Riu is the location at Los Cabos (10 cab ride). When you want a cab in the lobby, just talk to other guests and you usually can share a cab and split the fixed fare. The guy calling the cabs will not help you with this, but most visitors are quit to join you in the cab. Just speak up.

After reading reviews regarding Rui Palace Resort-Los Cabos, I was very uncomfortable with the package purchased for our trip. I read so many reviews, I was very uncertain. Needless to say, we had a GREAT time. Keep in mind, you are travelling outside the US. The rooms were average, but very clean. The buffets were average (not everyone has buffet manners); breakfast was good. If you have the patience, I suggest you make dinner reservations for the Japanese Restaurant & the Steakhouse. It's very hard to get into these places, and you MUST get a seat in line about 7:30 AM, so you can make reservations at 9:30 AM. It's a pain, but it's worth it. It is was very hot, so please be mindful that most of the dining is patio seating. This seemed like a family oriented resort, but the activities were organized, and the shows were very good. The performers were awesome! The drinks are very average. If you like Corona & tequila, then you are in for a wonderful time. The mixed drinks are watered down! We had the most enjoyable his/her massages at the Spa on our last day at the resort; very nice. The pool area is very nice, and very enjoyable. The grounds, landscaping , and the ocean views are beautiful. The best part of the trip was the EXCELLENT service on the resort & in town. We were treated very well, and people provided great customer service. Please, tip the servers. They work very hard to make you feel important. This is how they make their living; providing excellent service to you! Again, you will read mixed reviews. Keep in mind of where you are and RELAX! We had a marvelous time.

Be really careful with the Scuba Caribe people. They are in the building located at the beach; they sell you activities such as wave runners, parasailing etc... We had a bad experience with them, we rented a boat to go deep sea fishing, the boat looked so nice in the catalog but when we got to the Marina, it was a very old boat with none of the equipment they offered us. I called the Riu Palace management and they immediately resolved the issue, even though Sucuba Caribe is not part of the Riu, The hotel management help tremendously. With reference to the Hotel, the property is beautiful, the service is excellent, and everybody that works there goes way out of your way to fulfill your expectations. The food is very good, I recommend the steak house, and the restaurant Crystal, they have very good choices. I was so pleased to stay there I would definitely recommend it to anybody!!!!

We stayed for 5 nights Feb 5-10th. Overall, its a beautiful hotel, grounds are very well kept and the rooms are clean. The best part of the resort is the staff. Everyone was extremely pleasant and helpful, but Luis the bartender was a standout. The beds are on the firm side. The shower/tub combo is a bit hard to get in and out of, as well as being small if you want to actually take a bath. The first room we were checked into in building one was extremely moldy smelling - when we asked to be moved we were accommodated. The buffet was very good, we ate the buffet for all meals because we couldn't get a reservation at the restaurants - so book as soon as you get there if you want to try one. Top shelf alcohol consists of Smirnoff, Bicardi and the like. If you want those you have to ask for them specifically. Building 7 is the one building that is on the beach, the other 6 buildings are behind the RIU Palace. Building 7 is also the only one with elevators, so beware if you get a room that isn't on the ground floor in any of the other buildings. The building 7 pool is the infiinity pool, and seems to be the party pool and can get crowded early. The main pool is more subdued, and closer to the lunch buffet. They do have afternoon activites in the main pool, so it can be a little loud near the DJ. Trip into Cabo downtown costs $10. Shuttle from the airport $15 per person. We were able to get a cab back to the airport for $60. Read my review on trip advisor for more detailed info.

I read a TON of reviews for many of the resorts in and near Cabo San Lucas! It was difficult to decide. Most people who left reviews were pretty helpful. We took this trip to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday. I took him to Cabo mainly to deep sea fish. We decided to go with a hotel that was all inclusive. I cannot begin to rave enough how pleased we were! The entire hotel staff, with no exception ? no matter where they worked, were all so very kind, and helpful. I felt like they were there for each and every guest, not just a few guests! Many prior guests reviews online mentioned that you had to get up early (like around 7 in the morning) to get reservations for the hotels four exclusive restaurants. We were pleasantly surprised that was not the case for three of the four restaurants. Only one of them (Krystal) did you have to get up early for. I didn?t mind, it was worth getting up early once during our vacation to try different food. We went to 3 of the four restaurants, all were delicious!! The beach vendors ?Very nice. If you told them just looking they were patient and left you to look. If you stood to look at their wares after a while they did ask and wanted to sell. It was fun to barter a little. Because my husband knows some Spanish, it made it fun and they enjoyed his joking around. A representative within our hotel lobby booked our fishing trip. We went deep sea fishing on the Cabo Bandit. My husband caught a striped marlin and dorado (also known as a Mahi Mahi). Truly incredible experience, the father, son on the boat did a great job!

I went to this resort with my sister over a long weekend; overall it was a great resort, one of the best i've been too. The resort is HUGE and plan on doing a lot of walking; there are at least 900 rooms spread out over 8 or 9 buildings; plus the main building and its 'square' with restaurants, shopping, stage, bars etc - it's really big! As far as the foods goes, it could be better, but I should preface this with the fact that we did the buffet almost all the time except once when we went to the Asian restaurant (not good). The buffet does have a big selection, but try hitting them all, they're each at varying times and there is a slightly different selection at each. If you'd like a nice sit-down restaurant you can arrange for that in the mornings, apparently people love their food and they wait in line for this, I mean really wait in line. By the time we got there the only thing available was the Asian restaurant, it wasn't fantastic and it was buffet style, but not good food. There is an Italian and Steakhouse that seemed to book up really fast and there's also a mexican restaurant. Sorry I've got no info on those other than to tell you if your interested, go early :) and you can book for 2 nights at once. I can't really attest to the activities because we didn't do any, although we knew they were there, just not where specifically. The pool is fantastic, if all you want out of a trip is to go and be lazy by the pool - this is it. There are 2 pool areas, both huge, both have swim up bars and each 'area' has 2-3distinctPools.Sorry.Out.of.Space.Its.a.Nice.Resort!!!EnjoyIT!!!

Let me tell you about disappointment. We were on our honeymoon and this place was supossed to be amazing. NOT AT ALL! We paid for a Jr. Suite w/a King Bed. The gave us a regular room with two double beds pushed together. COME ON! When we went to the desk to get moved, they told us they wouldn't move us without charging us * for an upgrade. While we were checking in, we met a family and they were pissed too. The hotel gave them a room someone was already in. Ridiculous! The food was terrible and so were the drinks. The hallways smelled like , which made me want to puke. The room service people who take your order are SUPER rude. We moved to another place in San Jose and it was AMAZING! They have a snack bar all day. RIU's snack bar is just chips, burrito's and old crap. The new place had burgers, hot dogs, fries, onion rings, fruit, chips & salsa and cheese and much more for the snack bar.
