First stop was of course the front desk, where we were greeted by Mario who took the time to show all the hotel dining options and how to find everything at the hotel. Our room over looked the lagoon to our west and the beautiful Caribean to our east. It was keeped clean by a very friendly staff. And in room bar stocked. Marinas close by. Many types of excursions to chose from. Great time.

This was our third trip to Cancun and by far the best resort we have stayed at. The food was excellent. They have one resturant the Albatros, which is buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the food was great and there was a huge variety. The other dinner restaurants are by reservation only, which you must make early in the morning the day of, we never ate at those but I am sure they were just as good. The was also a resturant and the pool that served buffet style for breakfast and lunch only. The staff was very nice and always asked if we needed anything. The only downside was the beach. There wasn't much to it. It was the smallest of the three resorts we have stayed at and the water was full of seaweed. However, I not sure if this was just due to the tropical storm that came through just before we arrived. We went through Funjet and they were awesome. They answered every question we had. At night, vendors would come to the hotel and set up in Lobby. There was an awesome artist who painted with spray paint. Eventhough, there is not much directly around the hotel, everything is a simple bus ride away. The La Fiesta shopping center is gerat. You can visit the sister hotel, Riu Cancun, and it is located right by this shopping center. Overall, this was an excellent resort and I would definately consider staying here or another Riu resort for my next vacation.

We wanted a quick getaway to the beach at an all-inclusive. We had a good time, but between the children and boisterous young singles, quiet and relaxation were hard to find. The beach is beautiful, except that two afternoons we were there they had high pollution and had to raise the red flag. Food was okay at the buffet and good at the steak house. In order to get a reservation at the al a cartes you had to get up at 6:30 AM and wait in line to make a reservation at 7:00 AM - not really my thing when on vacation. Drink selections were more about quantity than quality. Whenever I asked for a drink with cranberry juice, I got fruit punch. Some staff were very friendly, others not. Beds were very hard, bedding and furniture need an update. Overall, we had a good time, but we will not be returning.

My wife and I stayed the in March 29 thru April 3 and we enjoyed every minute. The hotel employees are so helpful and such a beautiful place. Food was great and more than you can eat at the resturants. All the services were super for the price. We will be back.

This was our first time to Cancun and we had a tremendous time. The resort is very nice, the food was great, be sure to try to the Steakhouse, and the staff was excellent. You are just a bus ride or taxi ride away from the Hotel Zone downtown (club and bars). The pool and beach are great and the RIU Entertainment Staff is the BEST we have ever encountered at any resort (Jamaica, Bahamas, Carribbean, etc). One recommendation, if you want chairs right by the pool be sure to put your towels/shoes/etc. out by 6am. If you want to go to the bars be sure to either go with the RIU entertainment group (VIP access) or go with the Party Hopper group. We we definately be going back to Cancun and will stay at this resort or their sister resort RIU Cancun. We were able to go back and forth between these two resorts for food, pool, beach, etc... You can't go wrong with this Resort...

Just came back from this Hotel, and i must say it was an excellent experience. Staff was friendly, food was just amazing. Loved the steak house and the buffet. The mexican restaurant was ok. Didn't get a chance to try the asian. Beach is great , with plenty of huts and chairs to relax and tan. Swim up bar is great. Over all, i highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

if you're planning to get some nice sleep, pay alot less and stay somewhere else. no security at night to keep the kids quiet. sleeping on the floor would have been better than on their beds. staff on the other hand was second to none. pay a bit more and stay at riu palace or riu cancun. you will be glad you did, i wish i had.

It was a really great location and we got a great room (in one of the 2 tower things above the main part of the hotel) since it was our honeymoon! There weren't that may people there when we went which was good. Great food - if you eat at the Steakhouse restaraunt in the hotel and sit by the kitchen, beware of stray cats and salamanders that come out late at night. The Asian restaraunt at the hotel had the best fried ice cream - you must get it! The maids never seemed to come at the same time each day - one day they were there at 9am and the next day at 5pm (tip: open the balcony door curtains all the way before you go to the beach/pool in the morning - then you can tell without going up to the room is the maid has been there, since she closes the curtains). Also, you can go to the sister hotel - Riu Cancun with your wristband from the Riu Caribe, but that hotel has tiny pools and a tiny beach and a lot more people - the Riu Caribe is much better!

We had a great long weekend. Beach is great. Lots of activities at the hotel. We would stay there again. The only down side was hallway noise from the wind blowing through the building. In the Hallways they have openings that don't have windows and the breeze can be loud if you are a light sleeper. The beds can be a little hard, but they have a couple inch foam pad that makes a big difference. Hotel staff are all very helpful.

I highly reccomend this hotel. The workers are excellent & the entertainment crew is AWESOME!! There were plenty of activities to choose from during the day, so you never get bored. The beach is wonderful, the water is warm, and the sun is shinning...what is there to not like about that? Also, the night shows are amazing. You have to go to the night clubs afterwards tooo!!!!!!

This hotel is very noisy as they have evening entertainment inside on the first floor by the lobby. Our flight got in late and we were checking in at night after the entertainment started and we could hardly communicate with the front desk staff. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful and their English was good, it was just hard to communicate because of the noise. Also, if I stayed at this hotel again, I would ask to be on 4th floor or higher. We were on third floor and because of the openings in the walls until 3rd floor, we could here music and partying until after 2:00 a.m. and we wanted to go to sleep. Also, because this is an all inclusive hotel, the free alcohol was not amusing to us. Seeing underage kids staggering in the halls and not sure where their room was made me sick. We had two 18 year olds with us who did not drink. They can't drink in the United States, so they thought why bother on vacation especially seeing how dangerous these other kids were being. I can't believe the number of parents who let their kids go to Cancun on Spring Break. Do they have no idea how dangerous their kids are being? The way alcohol is pushed at all the hotels in cancun made our family have no desire to go back. They have a buffet that you can go to and eat all your meals and they also have 3 restaurants that you have to get up by 6:30 in the morning to go down and make a reservation. We tried two of the restaurants and even getting up to get in line at 6:30, ended up with 9:00 reservations and the restaurants weren't worth it.

This hotel is excellent all around, it was beautiful! The entertainment staff was amazing, and we were only 5 mintues away from La Isla, and all the clubs! We are a young couple and travelled with another young couple, and although this resort was awesome, it wasn't very active at night. If you are looking for a resort with an active night life, you might want to look somewhere else, it was pretty quite, and nothing ever happend. Although, there was a bus that took you out to a different club everynight, VIP style! But other than that, no night life! The front desk staff was helpful. The food was really good, and you should deffinatly try out the steak house, it was the best! The beach was really nice, and never overly crowded, we always found a spot for the four of us, and the sun didn't stop shining the whole time we were there! I highly recommend this resort!

Hotel and pool are very nice. My first day I reported 3 times that my phone did not work, staff said they would get someone up to my room and they did not. Second day I reported it again, and they said a specialist would have to go take a look and he was not in. Third day i reported it again, and they said someone will go up in a minute. I finally gave up because no one was doing anything about it. Bad thing of booking a package is you pay upfront, and well since you have already paid the Hotel Staff doesn't care about anything and they don't resolve your problems. The food wasn't any good, we had to go out to eat and spend more money. All and all I wouldn't recommend RIU Caribe to anyone. You pay more than what its worth.

2nd time stayed at Riu Caribe. GREAT Beach, plenty chairs on beach and pool..Food OK at buffets but convient when at pool or beach..Shows wonderful..reservation only restaraunts fill up QUICK..Take reservations from 7 am to 12 pm...Get there early to try n get in...Tips go a LONG way...and they deserve it...Sevice GREAT at the reservation restaraunts..I think thats why they restrict how many people they have seated at one time... Tipped at check in and got GREAT room, top floor and near elevators..Tipped the Bell staff and got extra beers in fridge...Beds very firm but are that way at all resorts we have stayed at in Cancun. Nice mix of people from all over the world there...Good music at night and great patio...Wish glasses for beers n drinks were bigger.. The smart people brought there own mugs and the staff would gladly clean and fill them...Other than ok food at buffets I would have to say thats my biggest complaint... We WILL return again as long as it stays the EXCELLENT value it is now!!!! And We were there during Spring Break..College kids there but mostly well behaved!! We heard from people on other floors there were noise issues but they said staff was quick to quiet them down..

All-inclusive is the only way to go. The hotel staff cleaned and restocked the rooms every day. The little wristband they made us wear all the time was a small price to pay for the convenience. Eating or drinking pretty much whenever we wanted, not having to carry cash (except for tips!). Super friendly staff, great beach, a bunch of different food options, plenty of activities, etc. I'm looking forward to going back next year!

My wife and I stayed at Riu 2/7-2/14/9. Upon arrival we were impressed with the ambiance and appearance of the hotel (hanging plants, turtles in lobby). Upon check-in we were initially concerned that the lighting in our room was broken. However, we soon discovered that some lighting is controlled by room key installation in a cartridge. The all-inclusive meals were good but take advantage of one of the specialty restaurants (the steak, Asian or mexican) to provide some variety. We especially enjoyed Gaviotas. This hotel provided all-inclusive shows, nightly live music, in-room liquor dispensers and a fridge full of beer, water and sodas (beyond the buffets). I would say the beach was nice for Cancun and the pool area was nice as well. I especially enjoyed the convenience of having an outdoor buffet near the pool. The Pizza bar was also a nice outdoor place to load up on mixed drinks and individual pizzas. The house keeping and staff at the buffets were very nice, helpful and professional. The cleaning ladies even designed elephants, swans and turkeys for us. PLEASE remember to tip for services as the staff is hardworking (ie cleaning, bartenders, waiters etc) The only downsides: the beds were small (only had full size-so request accordingly), partial ocean views were somewhat distant and PLEASE make sure you save the towel cards for checkout or you will be charged $20 for each card. Overall, a very excellent hotel that is good for families and couples wanting a nice get-a-way.

The hotel, hotel grounds, and staff we great! Someone is there to take your luggage to your room and a waitress is there to serve you drinks. We stayed in the 12th floor and the view was beautiful. The pool and beach we nice, there are four pools on site and we preferred the "quiet pool" and the beach. Food was served 24hrs and the room was stocked with soda, water, beer and liquor every day. The food was OK, I don't think they use salt or sugar when they cook. The location was great if your into partying and shopping. We however we more interested in scuba diving and adventure seeking. We found two great dive operations, Nautilus Divers and Manta divers. Diving Cancun was good but nothing beats Cozumel. If you are a diver you must use Manta Divers and dive Cozumel. The hotel offers a lot of trips and I suggest using them and not street vendors. We went to Rio Secretos, WOW it was great! This was well worth the money and would stay here again.
