This hotel is a fantastic stay on Maui. The staff is friendly and greets you immediately upon arrival, and is very understanding of all of your needs during the duration of your stay - from housekeeping coming to clean your room when it is convenient to you, to helping you set up activities, to making local recommendations, and even helping replace toiletries in lost luggage. The pool is fantastic and split into several different levels so you are likely always able to find a little privacy, and they also have their own beach. (They give you towels so no need to pack your own!) The only downside is that it is a bit of a drive from the Ritz Carlton into town, but it's a nice opportunity to enjoy the scenery and get a little escape when you return home for the night. Definitely recommend the Ritz Carlton hands down. The rooms were clean and they continually came to provide new towels and a turndown service. It was also very quiet at all times, and we were actually staying at the hotel during a food and wine festival, and still noticed no change in the atmosphere. There is fantastic gym on-site as well. Another plus to this hotel is the parking, of which there is plenty, and all within a short walk to your hotel room. I noticed that a previous comment said there is no ATM in the hotel - there actually is (maybe it's a recent addition?) and it's set in a very remote corner of the hotel. If you ask guest services, they will actually walk you to the ATM. There are also some fun sights to see right around the Ritz Carlton. If you drive past it and go to the very end of the resort (you'll hit a T in the road that dead ends - park in the lot to your right that overlooks a golfing green and the ocean line), you can see the "Sharks Teeth," which are pointy rocks that formed in the lava. You can drive the opposite way as you would to get into town (make a left off of Office Road, the road on which the Ritz Carlton is located) and enjoy some great snorkeling, wonderful views, an

The Ritz Carlton in Kapalua is a very nice place to stay on the West Coast of Maui. It is private and very clean and comfortable experience. The restaurants and bar are top notch. We ate at the Kai sushi place 3 times during our stay and each time was a little better. They really go out of their way to accommodate the guests. The room was absolutely top notch an was probably the most comfortable room I have ever enjoyed in a hotel in Hawaii. I will offer a couple of thing that are part of the Kapalua experience. The wind always blows in Kapalua and it can be a bit deceiving to someone not familiar the area. The beach is well sheltered and the Ritz provides alot of comforts in that area. The Ritz is huge an we stayed in the very last room at the end of the wing. It must have been a 1/2 mile from the lobby to our room, but we had the best view in the place. The small store next to the Ritz is a great place for snacks and cheap lunches and breakfasts if you are concerned with the higher costs of the the hotel restaurants. Parking is the only area that I will complain about. Having to pay $18 a night to use Valet parking for a $* a night room seems a bit on the greedy side. I will say that the Valet attendants are top notch and earn every penny of their wages. Mahalo

The newly renovated Ritz-Carlton is just beautiful -- the lobby area with a view of the ocean is just breathtaking! We stayed for 5 nights (with our 4-year old and 9-year old) in their new residential suites which feel just like home. The room decor has a very Hawaiian feel as well as very comfortable beds and great furnishings. The staff at the hotel was wonderfully accommodating and friendly. The concierge helped us make activities and dinner reservations. The pool is fabulous -- with three different tiers and a special pool for small children. The location of the hotel is perfect with great ocean views and beach access. They also have a great spa. It's a great family resort and we would highly recommend it to others.

The resort was gorgeous!! Some may think the location is a little isolated, but it is an easy drive to Kaanapali and Lahaina for water sports, Luaus, and shopping. And, there are great restaurants nearby: Meriman's, Sansei, The Pineapple Grill, Lahaina Grill, Cheeseburger in Paradise (off the water), etc. The location and resort made the vacation feel like a vacation. You're surrounded by beautiful scenic views- the hiking trails around the resort is a must do. The staff/service are spectacular. Everyone's very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend the club level. The lounge had great offerings and the concierge was over the top.

From the moment we arrived I found the hotel staff to be nothing but helpful, friendly and willing to do anything to accomodate. We used the pool area one day and the beach which has the convience of a bar/restaraunt where I was able to charge to my room drinks and lunch. We also ate at the sushi restaraunt and the terrace restaraunt. The service was slow but the food was great! What I had to ask myself was did I want "fast food" because it was not fast food but very high quality dining experience. I would not recommend this hotel for famlies on a "budget" as most meals for 3 diners went well over 100, with dinner closer to 200. Our room was lovely and the housekeeping staff most gracious and kind. I felt safe and well taken care of, exactly what I was paying for! We will be back next year, just remember if you are looking for low cost I would check elsewhere, but if you are like me, willing to pay for a little extra TLC then this is your place! We loved our vacation!

This destination was the last of our Hawaiian honeymoon. We have stayed in other Ritz-Carltons and this one was very nice. The rooms were exceptional. The balcony was a nice size, enough for four people to have dinner. It was romantic, only had one day of rain. We had a garden view, but we could see the ocean and the pool, glad we took that room because the scenery was amazing. There was some business meeting there and those people were annoying. That was the only complaint. Food and service were top-notch. The resort is removed from other places, so rent a car or get a cab.

We attended our daughters wedding. It was perfect. The location, everything. The staff went out of their way to make our stay the best. I can't say enough about the staff at the spa also. Very caring and so friendly.

This hotel is one of the finest I have ever stayed in. Our family of 6 had a 2 bedroom 1 bath suite on the ocean. They have their own beach as well as 3 big pools, hot tub and lots of green space and walking paths. The service was incredible.

My family and I had two rooms at this hotel. This was a trip for family and for work. The master bedroom, my room, had a mahor problem with the linens. I sat on the bed, looked at a brown spot on the bed and thought it had been burned by an iron. No- it was fecal matter. No-one had sat on the bed, it was made tight. Nice huh? The adjoining room for my children was a handicap room. The shower flooded the entire bathroom, due to poor design. The shower also started to flood the bedroom. So- my children had to share my one bathroom as well. For this being a Ritz, in Maui- I was shocked. They did not move us to another room. They simply changed the sheets, and told us sorry about the shower issue. The room service prices were outrageous. I would have expected the best food and service for the price. That was not the case. The kids club was great and the staffs attention to the children was also amazing. The dis-respect to myself however, makes it so I will forever spread the word of the "crappy" Ritz in Maui!

The Ritz-Carlton at Kapalua was paradise. The staff was super friendly and location was perfect for our honeymoon. It was more than I had expected and would definately recommend them and hopefully I can make it back soon for another trip.

the entire staff of the ritz was friendly and helpful throughout. the hotel and rooms are gorgeous. the pools on the premises are stellar. the hotel beach has great waves and is very nice. the food was excellent at all the restaurants within the hotel and the honolua general store behind the hotel was great. we probably spent as much time walking/hiking the trails along the beach and the former cart paths where the old golf courses were left to grow wild. don't miss these if you stay at kapalua-they are worth the time and a great uphill workout.

The weather is always windy and rainy; the luau was actually moved to a tent that looked like a tacky wedding reception; overpriced; no soda and snack machines; we went to another resort every day

When we first arrived we were greeted immediately, our bags unloaded by the staff and our car valet parked. We were escorted to our room by a friendly bellman and he answered any questions that we had. The resort was gorgeous. A huge pool, easy beach access, very clean and quiet. The entire staff was friendly and helpful whenever needed. My wife and I had a date at the spa, I believe it was called Waihua?? It was simply the nicest, most luxurious treatment I've ever received. The couples massage was well worth it! Overall this was the best resort/hotel I've ever been to. The only two drawbacks are that there is no ATM in the hotel, however the staff can get money for you. Also, it is a little far from any activities, so plan on driving if you wish to "see" Maui. I would recommend the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua to anyone.

Resort was beautiful but after delayed and a missed flight connections, we arrived and the clerk tried to convince us that I booked a different suite than we'd paid for. When I pulled out my paperwork, she then immediately admitted that our room was given to someone from a large group for the first night of our stay; the whole money talks thing is what we figured. I believe that if I was not careful about knowing what we paid for, that we would have been left with the gardenview she presented instead of the "oceanview" that we booked. Instead of getting settled in for our vacation, we remained packed up and we moved to our suite the next day. Also be careful, this is not an oceanfront property, you will not be able to have the accessibility of the ocean at your front door. Maybe at this property, the oceanview, oceanfront thing is not worth it. I also came expecting a luau or something here. Also, this is probably one of the only 4+star-5star properties in Maui and we have definitely come to expect free valet parking. NOT SO! You can have the usually expected luxury here for $18 per day. Most of the guests passed on this service. Now, we loved the room accomodations, the onsite little store, the housekeeping, the shower, our residential kitchen, but maybe we should have foregone the star rating here for oceanfront accessibility and shuttles to Lahaina at another resort.

This is not a bad hotel. However, it certainly did not meet my expectations. The spa is cramped, although fitness facilities were great. The room was OK?again not consistent with Ritz quality. The beds were uncomfortable. It was terribly windy during our entire stay and (according to the staff) weather was NOT out of the ordinary. Traffic getting to the hotel was a nightmare. Again, this is not a bad hotel. There just happens to be many options on the island that boast nicer locations, weather, spas, beds, etc. All of which I expected for the price tag we paid at the Ritz.

This is a truly beautiful resort. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was georgeous and the views were fantastic. There are 4 tiered pools and a private beach. There is a general store within walking distance where you can get anything you need including meals that are afffordable. We went snorkeling, jet skiing, drove to Hana to see the waterfalls and 7 sacred pools. The location couldn't have been better.

Recently we had the privilege of spending part of our 30th anniversary celebration at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua on Maui. We were graced with a beautiful room that overlooked the ocean as well as the beautifullly groomed golf course. The Ritz Carlton in Kapalua offers club level dining throughout the day with 5 star selections and presentations that made us look forward to our next visit to the dining room. It was great being able to chat with the chefs as they shared with us what inspired their selections. During our stay at the Ritz we also visited their sushi restaurant as well as their steakhouse. Being the foodies that we are we tend to have a bit more of a sophiticated palate and evaluate very seriously the quality, taste and presentaion of our menu choices. We have nothing to say but praises for all the meals that we enjoyed during our stay at the Ritz as well as the impeccable serivce and care . Every single need was met with associates that went obove and beyond to help make us feel very pampered and cared for during out time in Maui. Thanks to everyone who helped to make our anniversary celebration a memory of a lifetime!

You get what you pay for and this was first-class Ritz. Food was excellent, but expensive. Beach is a short walk. Weather at Kapalua is cooler than in most other Maui locations. Plantation House and Merriman's restaurants are fabulous and the resort shuttle takes you on the short ride and back. Also try Mala Ocean Tavern in Lahaina. Pool could be upgraded and staff could take a lesson from the Four Seasons re service around the pool. Kind of annoying to be charged for a cabana.

The Ritz was beautiful and the service was more than commendable. The only thing, it is up in the mountains, so it is very windy and cooler temps.. It rains more and the waves are huge with strong under tows.. So if your not a great swimmer or have small children, this is not the beach for you. The south shores or even Lahina Shores are warmer and the beaches are more gentle. We loved the hotel but the activities had to be elsewhere.. It was even too cold to swim in the pool there.. (end of Feb).

The Ritz is a great hotel...You really can't go wrong with them. It is located on the west side of Maui close to where there was decent nighttime activities if you just wanted to walk around. The rooms were well kept and up to par with what we expected. The service was great too, but there was definite room for improvement, not that we had a bad time. Just realized, its hard to have a true 5 star experience when the theme of the island is just hang loose and enjoy. None the less, my wife and I had a great time and enjoyed our stay at the Ritz. By the way, if you have the option at the time of booking or call the hotel in advance and ask for a pool view. You will have a better shot of seeing the ocean than the garden view which focusses on the surrounding golf courses. (Think of the hotel with arms flanking out to the side encompassing the pool area...If you are on the outside of those arms you will have a better shot at the landscape then the ocean). Having driven to Wailea and seen the Grand Wilea and the Four seasons, the hotel grounds each have their unique points, but didn't feel that one out shined the rest. The good and bad things of the location of the Ritz was it was an hour drive from the airport and obviously a distance from the east side of the island where the Road to Hana is as well as other east side outings, but in comparison to Wailea, it was nice to drive to along the coast line and walk along Lahaina at night. The Spa is up to par with other 5 star resorts we have been too, but very pricey...It was almost $600 dollars for an 80 minute couples massage with the Service Charge (AKA tip) included). They actually threw in a 20 minute scrub which was a special they were having while we were there. All in all, my wife and I were happy with our stay and would recommend this to a friend. Take Care and Mahalo
