We enjoyed working out each morning in the fitness room where we were given cold eucalyptus fragrant towels and bottles of water to cool ourselves. The beach and pool attendants were very helpful and friendly. They did a nice job setting up your beach lounge chairs with nice towels and umbrellas and canopies if you so desired. Restaurant food was delicious. We would highly recommend an evening dinner on the moonlite beach, be sure to make reservations! The concierge was very helpful with making other restaurant reservations. You could easily walk or take the city bus to those if you preferred that over renting a car or taxi. We did rent a car one day to drive to Akumal towards Tulum. We had stayed in a house there a few years ago and just wanted to go back and see how much it had changed. The drive was easy and fun! We did not get sick and we felt very safe the entire time we were in Cancun. We already are talking about going back, it was so relaxing!

If I have one negative thing to say about the destination of CANCUN, it's the overly-aggressive restaurant, bar, and market merchants -- they are over-the-top aggressive and it's draining as hell when you are trying to relax. This is where the Ritz Carlton comes in. They are the "anti-aggressive" merchant. All you get is smiles, warmth, and top-notch service. Public areas are beautiful and obsessively maintained. Guest rooms are over-sized, smell good(!). Pool/beach staff are highly competent, always there but invisible if you know what I mean and appreciate great service. It's a true 4.5 star (I'm a tough rater) experience.

the ritz is the ritz. we spend our 6 anniversary with a friend here and it was a dream that we did not want to awaken from. from the breath of fresh air to the pebbles on the ground of the hotel was excellent. and if you want to dine out try lorenzillo lobster and seafood resturant.

It's hard to go wrong with the Ritz, it was first class service and amenitites all the way. Although the room was clean and well appointed, it was just a typical hotel room with a reasonable ocean view. the balcony really wasn't something you would enjoy spending much time on due to the size and lack of privacy.

The most beautiful hotel in Cancun. The front desk was extremely friendly, The room service was great...Plenty of room around the pool, with a plentiful staff to help you with your every need. The hotel is the best place to stay in all of Cancun and perhaps in all Mexico. If you have children this is a great place for that family getaway. As I type this review, I'm already planning to book another 9 day trip to the very plush Ritz Carlton.

While the hotel is not for the budget minded...the service that you receive is impecable. Fantino's restarant was well presented, and the food was good, but not excellent. However, I can not say enough good things about the Viking Culinary Arts studio and Chef Rory...he was great. The techniques taught and the simplicity of the recipes make this something that anyone should be able to take to their table and impress friends and family. The Spa was nice, but would recommend others in the Cancun area. The beach was beautiful, although a little sparse...but that should be fixed in a couple of weeks as a result of the hurricane taking most of the sand out to sea. All in service and Viking cooking school are great...

My wife and I went to get away for a week and had a fabulous stay. The staff is constantly looking for ways to make you comfortable whether in their great on site restaurants, at the pool, or when checking you into your room. One day I was just standing by the pool enjoying the sun and waiting for my wife and a gentleman from the staff came up with towels and asked if he could set me up somewhere. That kind of unprompted service was everywhere. In terms of the room, it was very nice. I'd read some reviews saying the rooms could be more updated but we were very happy with the room (and we had the standard room). Very nice bathroom and the bed was terrific. I'd read plenty fo reviews complaining about hard beds throughout the cancun/playa region and Ritz had great beds. All of the rooms also have great views of the ocean & pool. The pool was not a super elaborate complex, but they had a couple large pools that were nice and plenty adequate for what we were looking for. Plus it's the Ritz, not Club Med or some kids water park. Because it's the Ritz the staff also periodically walked around with chilled and scented hand towels, fresh cantaloupe squares to snack on, or frozen juice pops made from fresh fruit. Very fun. The beach wasn't very big between the hotel and the ocean but that's the case throughout the region post- Hurricane WIlma. The beach was fine though. The restaurants were also outstanding. The breakfast buffet is not cheap but is well worth it to fill you up. We also had a great meal at the Club Grill which is an outstanding 5-star restaurant. Overal we HIGHLY recommend the Ritz.

This hotel is by far the best hotel in Cancun. They had great restaurants and it was inexpensive compared to other top notch hotels in the U.S. Also, we really liked SPA in the hotel. We got massages and they were the best massage ever! One thing that we did not liked was the high price of using wireless internet ($25).

"We stayed here for a conference. Our first night's dinner buffet was poolside complete with lobster tails fresh off the grill! It was some of the best lobster we'd ever had. The decor is almost beautiful enough to compete with the view. The service from the staff is world class. I heard the staff service training program has won numerous awards. Our room was gorgeous and the rooms are tended 4 times a day. If you can afford it, stay here at least once in your life!"

"Our stay was the height of luxury. Spacious rooms, great view, fabulous dinners, outstanding service. Be sure to make reservations at ""Casitas', dinner on the beach! It was a great experience, Very romantic. The Club Grille was probably one of the best meals we have ever had. Make reservations for a beach palapos or cabana before you arrive. They fill up fast, and it's a great way to get out of the sun and still enjoy the beach. Tennis on the property was a plus. No need to ever leave the property.Looking forward to returning asap!"

We atyed at the Ritz in cancun with my wife and my son (2). Since the hurricane lastyear tourism is down right now so we got a great deal and the hotel was essentially empty. There were several other couples with their young children so it was perfect for us. The staff are excellent and very attentive. Restaurants need improvement and are expensive!
