not up to my standards

had stayed here before in winter and had specifically chosen it for this stay in july because they had a lounge and outdoor terrace on the 14th floor. however when we got there we found out that the rise bar as it is called is no longer open. the hotel rooms are beautiful but it is a very long cab ride to most anywhere in the city.

We loved our view of the Statue of Liberty and the telescope in the room! The view of NY Harbor was fabulous. My 10 year old loved the telescope in the room. The neighborhood was quiet and only a short walk of a couple blocks to various subway lines.

The view of New York harbor was amazing and the entire staff was very helpful, from the valet, front desk, to maid service. I would gladly return. The hotel was worth every penny.

Beautiful hotel with a warm, friendly staff. Carlos, the concierge, was exceedingly gracious and pleasant to our 6-year old son. Other members of the staff were very friendly and helpful, as well. Close proximity to the Statue of Liberty and the Financial District with a view overlooking the harbor. A bit of a walk to the nearest subway station; however, the weather was lovely while we were there so the walk was pleasant. The bed and the pillows were too soft for my liking.

Everything from booking with Orbitz to check out was perfect - except that upon arrival they were unable to offer us a harbour view room, for which we paid a premium. We were put in a city view room - 1005. The following morning we were moved to a beautiful harbour view room 1015. It would be appreciated if the premium paid to yourselves for the first night was creditted back to my credit card. Many thanks Mike Fuller

The view, the bed was soft and compy. The room service was excellent. Windows were dirty, but a note in the room said cleaning would begin the following week. I really loved staying there. Priceline made it more affordable. Excellent views and great service.

First-off, I booked the executive harbor view suite...which is way more than we typically spend on a hotel room but it was our wedding anniversary and I wanted to surprise my wife with something out of the ordinary...well, upon check-in we find that online travel website upgraded our room to the Liberty Suite which was double the cost of the room that I booked! The room had two bathrooms. It was enormous. The room was completely unreal with a picturesque view of New York Harbor and Lady Liberty herself. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. We had a blast and enjoyed every minute of the stay. The staff was beyond helpful and coutrteous...the whole experience made any past hotel experience and will MAKE any future hotel stay pale in comparison.

doormen, bell staff, and front desk staff are excellent. You may every arrival special. Sorry the rise bar is closed. The downstairs bar is just ok. Rooms are fabulous, large and clean. The beds are awesome. Bathroom is great.

Million dollar view! Outstanding views of NY Harbor and a friendly and accommodating staff.

Wonderful accommodations! We were upgraded to a Harbor view without our knowing until we went to our room. Staff was excellent, very helpful and eager to please. 3 night getaway felt like 6 nights because of comfort and great service. Dining at hotel was better than expected and the concierge gave us great recommendations when we ventured out. Highly recommend this hotel, especially for a couples weekend!

Nice hotel, but inconsistencies in cab and limousine fares. Markkup on desserts and fruits for room service is crazy.

The service was as you would expect...after all...you're at the Ritz. Extremely nice and helpful personel. The city can be a little hectic. While some may feel the distance to shops and restaurants a disadvantage, we liked the feeling of peace we felt at the Battery. Tranquility in Manhattan...not an easy find.

"We stayed there with our three teenage children, my sister, husband and mother in-law from 7/29 thru 8/1/06. This is a wonderful hotel. Their staff is just the best! They are so friendly and courteous. I've stayed at other diamond/five star rated hotels and I must say the service received from this location is SUPERB! You must go!! The staff really makes your stay very enjoyable and treats you like royalty...One of the BEST in Manhattan! "

"Although the way downtown location may deter you from staying here, do it anyway! I had trouble finding it, but this hotel is wonderful. The decor is elegant and tasteful...the staff is very personal and attentive. I felt special. The room was perfect...down to every detail. The bathroom was huge with a nice shower and the bed was deliciously plush & soft. I know of the hotel's policy to I stayed over Easter weekend and they went all out decorating impeccably. A 50 ft. chocolate egg in the lobby, and tons of free fresh gourmet candy everywhere. It was hot. "
