The location is superb, the service lousy, and price ridiculous for what they offer you. The 5* are Brazilian, which means very little. In Europe this would be 3* at best. But, as is the case with many hotels in Brazil, renovations start only when things are broken, and when people complain. Or they sell it, and let others do it, which will probably happen. The Othon chain has been surpassed by so many (often foreign) hotel professionals, that they hardly count. The Othon 'palace' has become the outlet for package tours, where most people are out of their room most of the day. Avoid it, when you can. There are so much better hotels at half the price.

My experience was wonderful, the location of the hotel and theor personel were excellent.

Fantastic location and breakfast at the poolside on the 25th floor, looking over the entire Copacabana Bay and beyond, simply breathtaking. The reception area leaves alot to be desired. It was like an airport waiting area. For an enormous hotel, I was dismayed to find only three cramped ill-lit cubicles for internet access. Only one of these, at the time, was capable of actually accessing the internet - and you had to pay another 20 dollars for an hour of this privilege. The bedroom's walk in shower was really dangerous. The floor pan didn't drain properly so that, even with the tiny rubber mat down, both myself then my wife nearly slipped over trying to exit and there are no handles on the walls to save yourself.

Perfect location but the rooms are very dated and rooms lack suitable desk to work from, as this was a working trip, this would have been very useful.

It was a great experience for me to stay at this hotel. The hotel is marvelous and has a great view of the copacabana beach. The staff was perfect and i had no problem with my reservation. On my next trip, i will choose this hotel again.

We went to a convention. During the free time we enjoyed a magnificent view from the room, and also walked on the beach. Breakfast is excellent, as well as the bar where you can grab something to eat, but they are missing an everyday restaurant. But I general it was a satisfying experience

The rooms are somewhat dated, and both rooms I had did not have locks on the sliding doors. The furnishings vary in age. That said, the staff was courteous and prompt. I was upgraded at no cost to a better room, and there seemed to be a pervasive spirit among the employees toward providing guests with a positive experience. The breakfast buffet was great, and the room service was outstanding. All factors considered, the hotel is a good value, and the room views of Copacabana and Sugerloaf are classic.

We got upgraded to a better room than we paid for --the higher floor are renovated. The staff is super-professional and friendly. Most speak good Spanish and English. Breakfast bar is fantastic. The restaurant on the 30th floor is top class. The only down side was that there didn't seem to be an air-condition --or else we just couldn't find it. It didn't matter as the winter (our summer) was pretty cool and breezy

The hotel was fine. Good location and staff very friendly and helpful. However, They failed to communicate that my room came with an upgraded breakfast on the top floor overlooking the city. So we ate in the cafeteria style breakfast on the lower floor. On the last day the person checking the list for breakfast told us we were eating in the wrong area. Also free Internet can be had in lobby and just in front of hotel. It does not belong to the hotel (which costs) but is provided by the city.

It was a comfortable hotel, and very well localized. Dinning services at top floor (30) and food were both perfect.
