Have stayed here on many occasions, the most recent was a father/son getaway. We both enjoyed our stay, walking distance to the parliament building, old town Plaka, National Museum. Hotel itself is in pretty good location, certainly has all the conveniences. It makes an excellent overall impression, staff was helpful. In other words - very reasonable and comfortable place to stay in downtown Athens. Overall the place is kept very clean. Going back to Athens we would definitely stay at the Hotel Rio again.

The first room we were given was separated from the other, the shower was gross, no safe, and the door didn't function correctly. We asked to be changed and we were moved to another room. It was with the other rooms and the shower was a little better. Overall the room is unpleasant to be in but the staff is nice enough. The metro ride to the Acropolis isn't far. I wouldn't say walking distance by any means though.

This hotel is in very poor shape. The rooms are not maintained and the door to the second room we were moved to would not stay locked. Do not book this hotel, there are many other good hotels in the immediate area which were in much better shape. We had to cancel our stay and were able to find a room in another hotel just down the street.

The hotel was in a descent part of town, within 1 block of a metro station. The hotel was clean which is the most important quality for me but it had no natural light. Open a window and see a wall. The continental breakfast was limited but good and the staff was helpful. I'd recommend it for short travel stops. I wouldn't return only because I like a window to see outside and I'm more familiar with the other hotels now. There are others that are reasonably priced that offer a bit more in convenience and comfort.

We stayed at the Hotel Rio for five nights .The location is perfect. You are 5 to 10 minutes walking from everything. The location of the hotel was ideal for exploring Athens and was close to all major sites of interest. Near many shops and restaurants. The staff is warm and friendly. Nice breakfast room. If you are considering staying in Athens, this is the place to stay.

We were on business last week in Athens . We checked online on Internet and chose to stay at the Hotel Rio Athens. The hotel was beautiful, the staff was extremely helpful, and the buffet breakfast was lovely. They had internet access. The metro is just in the corner. It is located downtown and very close to the exhibition centre. Recommend it for business trips. We will stay there again on a regular basis

Good Points: Great location, very quiet and delightful hotel, delicious breakfast, clean rooms, multilingual stuff, friendly service, excellent cafe and restaurant with greek and italian dishes, Travel Agency with tickets to the greek islands and worldwide. Car parking. General comments: The Hotel Rio Athens is a delightful hotel, well situated for a jaunt to the old town Plaka or the Acropolis (metro station METAXOURGHIO). The indoor/outdoor cafe - restaurant is excellent and the included buffet breakfast is delicious. Service is fast cheerful and friendly and all of the desk personnel while we were there spoke English, Italian, French, German and Spanish very well. Will look forward to staying there again and again.
