This was a mixed experience. The hotel signs were worn, not very thrilling when these are your first impression and the hotels near by look nice.. I look for an efficient front of house and a positive welcome in a hotel. The lady proprieter was exhausted and confused when she opened the door. She was however happy for me to arrive early, which I was grateful for. The room was ready. The main entrance led into a foyer with office on the right which was wide open and gave a first impression of dissarray. She kindly started telling me abou the eating houses and directions, but I really just wanted to get my key and settle into my room first. The decor was old fashioned and hall, stairs and corridors didnt smell very fresh. The room was clean and mainly okay, but mattresses fairly old, and a bit too soft for me. I was aware of springs, so felt more clean and comfortable sleeping on top of the double duvet, with it wrapped over me at night. Drinks making equipment standard, ok. Nice view of outdoor swimming pool, which I didnt use due to time factor and poor weather. Spa pool was charged for use at £5 for half an hour, too much in my view, and from my room view spa water looked unclean. I saw people cleaning main pool which was heated to 28 degrees C. Hotel mainly quiet, though could hear people talking in next room and going to loo! TV worked, Bathroom clean, nice and hot with good shower. Fan in bathroom very noisy, needs fixing.Breakfast was a bit of a fiasco. Cheap brand cereals in plastic stay fresh boxes. The bran flakes or fruit and fibre, was an inch deep of end of box crumbs. Cheap orange juice only, no fruit or alternative juice. We were given a rack of white toast with no offer of brown. It was put on table before the cooked food. The first morning we were given a list to choose cooked food but very little choice, not even mushrooms. Tinned tomoatoes served, not fresh. Margerine, not butter, no healthy alternative spread offered. However, really beautifully do

This is the first time we have stayed in a B&B in nearly 20yrs. The room was nice and the en suite was beautiful, newly refinished. The owners have worked hard to make it a welcoming place. The breakfast was good and plenty of it. The day we came to check out didn't go well for us. Our car broke down.! Nigel and Maxine bent over backwards to help us. Offered a freindly mechanic to come look at the car.(on a sunday!) We decided to travel home by train which nigel found the times table on his PC, drove us to the station an waited to make sure all was ok. They kept our car in their car park and kept an eye on it. They were so helpful an freindly in our distress... Lovely people..

Nigel and his family are absolutely superb hosts and cannot be faulted in anyway a very entertaining stay at a very traditional British resort hotel ,not 5 star luxury but outstanding value for money and hugely gratifying experience

nice hotel with excelent service. But we find the bathroom small, and the room looks a bit old.But overall experience is nice.. ...good food and family friendly. The swimming pool is nice :)

Nigel and Maxine were very helpful and made sure that our stay was comfortable. The breakfast was lovely, lots to choose from. Room was superb, recently refurbished and was lovely! The Swimming pool was brilliant, especially with the foam sides and bottom. All their hard work is certainly paying off :)

AWESOMEAs my first holiday with my boyfriend it was so relaxed. Being younger we weren't sure what to expect from a family run hotel but Nigel and Maxine were really fun and reasonable. The pool was fantastic and easy to get in and out of especially for the ladies. The bar was friendly and on our last night most of the guests went down and we had a karaoke night which was a real laugh. The room was cool on the hot days we had and the bathroom was gorgeous with really good showers. It really was worth the money and Nigel and Maxine made our stay wonderful. We are definatly going back next year.

Richwood HotelThe male owner was good in regards to customer service but some of the other staff were rude and unhelpful, upon leaving I asked if they could fill an empty plastic bottle with tap water as it was hot and I had a long journey, they said no and walked off without even saying goodbye, this was one of several instances of rudeness. All the TV equipment needed tinkering with before it would work. There was no vegetarian breakfast and the toast was cold and the cereal unappetising, having said that the room was clean and comfortable but I wouldn't stay here again.

Excellent place to stay for very reasonable priceVery nice, quiet hotel. Excellent, spacious room. I had the feeling, I was the very first guest in the room. Everything new and clean. Bathroom seemed to be brand new decorated. Definitely recommended as the best place to stay for short and long break.

richwood hotel week awaymaxine and nigel are wonderful hosts - the whole hotel experience was managed very well, and the welcome was great. They made us feel special! Lovely room, lovely hotel, and the swimming pool and decking is the icing on the cake. the walk down to the harbour was not too bad, with plenty to see and do when we got there.Great value day tickets on the buses which went all round the bay.

Spring holiday Pleasant hotel under going refurbishment. Our room was basic but clean and warm( the weather was chilly). The bed was very comfortable ! Breakfast nicely cooked although a bit of a panic in starting. Given plenty of useful information on the area from the owner. She was very welcoming.

This place is llike faulty towers. We had workmen entering the room without knocking to fix a shower, whilst we were in bed. The kettle had an electrical fault. The owner wasn't expecting our arrival nor had she a clue on the price we had confirmed at booking. The games room was in an appalling condition and the noise of other guests was very audiable. The domestics failed to knock before entering and a request for and iron and an ironing board took several hours. This trip was made for a funeral so the lack of professionalism made the occassion all the more harder. It was appaulling. Had the trip been for any other reason i would have sought other accommadation, but situation as it was i was occupied with other things.

Good hotel for the money made excellent by the great family who run it. We had a lovely warm and friendly welcome and Nigel, the owner, went out of his way to help us dry off our very wet bike gear and made our stay very memorable!
