Our group just returned from one week in Morocco. We stayed only one night in the mountains since one of our travel partners was pregnant and not able to do much hiking. Imlil is an easily accessible gateway to the mountains. It is only 1 1/2 hours from Marrakech. Houssine, the owner of the guest house arranged our transport from the city for 100 Euros return. Houssine's home is newly built on the main road leading up from the village. The highlight of the house is the rooftop terrace with fantastic views in to the valley. We spent a majority of our time lounging on the day beds. The two bedrooms are cozy. They each have one double bed and a single bed so you can sleep a total of 6 people between the two rooms. There is one central sitting room. He kindly allowed us to use his internet which is located in the smaller sitting area. Houssine is trained as a mountain guide when he worked at the big and expensive Kasbah. He actually holds a national certification that allows him to be a proper guide in Morocco. So you can hire him to be a guide for around 30 Euros per day. We chose not to do this since we were there for less than a full day. His wife will make dinner on request which was very yummy. We chose this option because it is a bit of a walk from the village which we thought we might not feel like doing after a big meal and at the end of the day. Overall, this is a sure bet! I highly recommend staying at this guest house.
