“Take me back...This place is fantastic!” Riad Dar Najat chilling out on the top deck More photos My time in Marrakech and Dar Najat has been one of the best weeks ever. The Riad surpassed my expectations - it is simply stunning. There is so much to look at and the decor makes you feel like youre staying in the poshest of hotels but with the comfort of your own home. The location is also perfect, with the square only a 5 minute walk away. The rooms remained spotless, with the ladies coming in to tidy up and change the sheets on a daily basis (but only if youre not in the room!). I must admit, i appreciated getting into a nice tucked bed everynight. The Riad is also maintained daily to its usual fantastic standard - the staff really do take pride in this place. The food is fantastic - really fantastic. Their cous cous is most definately worth trying, and im convinced they also do the best tagines in the city. The lemon chicken tagine was AMAZING!! I also looked forward to the breakfast everyday. Such a selection of food, it really sets you up for the day. However the most positive aspect about the Riad is the staff. If the Riad was rented as a private villa, it would no doubt be a beautiful place to stay - but the staff have really made my time here something i will always remember. I was often sat on the terrace alone with my puzzle book and the staff would come over and chat with me. They are all extremely approachable and easy to have a laugh and giggle with. I enjoyed my conversations with them and felt really welcomed. They are so helpful, and often left the Riad (without us knowing) to buy things for us that werent in the Riad. They also walked with us to show us directions and key spots and organised all our transfers and trips during our stay. I think we are already planning to come back early next year (when i hope it will be abit cooler) and will definately stay at Dar Najat again. This place makes an already amazing place even more amazing. I love it, take me back!

A wonderfully welcoming place! We had a very warm welcome as soon as we arrived at Dar Najat from Olivier and his team. Olivier was great in giving us tips on restaurants, cafés and bars to go to - all of which were fabulous. He made booking for us and helped us get orientated in the city. Olivier arranged trips to the Atlas mountains and a trip to Essaouira for us. The Riad is in a quiet street about 5 minutes walk from the Djemma al-Fna and offers a peaceful haven from the madness and chaos of Marrakech. The terrace where we had breakfast was full of plants which added to the feeling of calm. The rooms are beautifully decorated with lots of Moroccan art and lamps. The Riad has a very authentic feel about it. But its the people that make it so special. You are treated as part of the family rather than just a guest. I'll definitely be going back to pay Olivier and Souad a visit next time I'm back in Marrackech.

It's like having a house to stay in Marrakech! This is not just a place to stay. I was treated like a princess. I felt like being in a friend's house. I need to return soon. I miss my chair on the terrace. I miss my breakfast late in the morning under the warm soon of Marrakech. I miss the wonderful music. I miss them all!

I recently (Jan 4-6) traveled to Marrakech for a long weekend. After reviewing the feedback on many Riads I chose Dar Najat. Upon contacting the property directly I was put in touch with Oliver, the owner. Oliver took my reservation and also my flight details. After receiving those he confirmed the room and also arranged for pick up from the airport. Upon arriving I was welcomed by Oliver who helped me learn a bit about the area and took an interest in what I wanted to see and do while in Morocco. I relied on Oliver during my entire stay to arrange excursions and book reservations at restaurants. On my first day, Oliver arranged a driver to take me all around Marrakech and show me the Medina and outside the Medina. My first night at the riad was surprisingly quiet... It is situated right in the medina only a few minute walk from the city square but the inside of the riad is absolutely quiet at night for sleeping. I am an early riser and was on roof of the riad for sunrise on the following morning. I was met by Oliver who was getting some work done early in the morning. Oliver made sure I had fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee (you must drink both of these while in Morocco... the orange juice is so fresh and the coffee is the strongest I have had in a while). Oliver had already arranged for a car to pick me up and drive an hour and a half to hike in the Atlas mountains. The driver was very competent and was able to travel on a riad that had significant obstacles (3 rivers with rocks flowing across the road). Once arriving at the mountains the driver found me a hiking guide and ensured that my trek was safe. That evening, after a long day of hiking, Oliver had arranged a dinner for me at a local restaurant. The dinner was traditional Moroccan food and the entertainment was spectacular (two bands playing traditional instruments and a belly dancer). On my final full day in Marrakech, Oliver arranged a four-wheeling expedition with a guide who was a friend of Oliver's. I had a great time four-wheeling through small villages in the foothills of the Atlas mountains. This was finished off with a dinner at a restaurant in the foothills which was very beautiful. That evening I had coffee in the city square with Oliver and his dog. Oliver is the most gracious of hosts and ensures that you get the most out of your trip. He personally takes the time to arrange anything you need and made my first trip to the continent of Africa a very enjoyable time. When I return, I plan on staying at Oliver's riad, Dar Najat, for the service and personal attention to detail. If and when you travel to Morocco, I highly recommend staying in a riad rather than a hotel. I travel 100% of the time around the world and stay in hotels all the time. A riad is the best way to get connected to the city and local people.
